Senator Ted Cruz says Obama is using #Veterans as Pawns in #GovernmentShutdown.

A crowd pushed through barriers at the WWII Memorial on the National Mall today to protest the memorial's closing because of the government shutdown.

Sen. Ted Cruz (below) was among those who gathered. Cruz said President Barack Obama is using veterans as pawns in the shutdown.

Protesters say closing the memorial is unfair because people died for the freedom to visit public spaces.
