The domestic violence, the kids, her murdered husband and now the Juno nomination. Kim Davis has really come a long way. The lovely 28-year old who scored a Juno nomination earlier this year spoke to the Toronto Sun's Michele Mandel yesterday about her life and how she wants to encourage others to follow her positive steps in moving on with your life. We all learn many things in life.

"The background singer and mother of two young children was estranged from her husband Mohamed Hussein. The Scarborough high school sweethearts had married young and then grown apart, but they remained close friends.

Davis thought she’d found new love with local hip hop artist Clinton “Mikey G” Gordon. “The first six months were great and then it was just hell,” she recalls. “But it turned into a very violent domestically abusive relationship.”

DMX IN JAIL AGAIN!!!

Rapper DMX has been arrested in Arizona, according to a new report. The star was taken into custody after allegedly violating the terms of his probation by using illegal drugs - and now his lawyer has issued a public plea for help to TV drug counsellor Dr. Drew Pinsky. DMX's attorney Gary Jenkins tells TMZ.com, "He's been battling addictio n for some time and he's in need of treatment. We're hoping that maybe Dr. Drew might be able to help him.

He's a talented man. We're praying for him." DMX spent time in jail last year (09) on charges of drug possession, an imal cruelty and theft, stemming from various arrests in 2008. After his release last May (09) he was sentenced to 18 months probation for verbally threatening a guard during his stint in prison.

Lil Wayne has begun his one-year prison sentence today (March 8) for gun crimes.

Originally due to start his sentence last month, Wayne's incarceration was postponed initially so he could have emergency dental surgery, then delayed because of a courthouse fire.

The rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, is serving the jail-term stemming from an incident in 2007 in New York, where police officers found a handgun on his tourbus.

Lil Wayne said little in the courtroom, reports the New York Post. Asked by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon if he wanted to speak, the rapper simply shook his head and said "No". He has now been taken to New York's main jail complex, Rikers Island, where he will serve his year-long sentence (though he could be let out after eight months for good behaviour).

The rapper's lawyer Stacey Richman said he plans to continue making music in jail.

Nobody has died but my heart goes out to the lovely Toya, Reginae and all his sons. The message is clear, lets do it for the kids, leave the guns alone!

WEIRD: BEYONCE OPENS COSMETOLOGY CENTER IN DRUG REHAB.

The president of Brooklyn has declared Beyonce an official Brooklynite.

Borough President Marty Markowitz said Beyonce is a Brooklynite by marriage and by moxie. Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, is from Brooklyn.

The superstar visited the New York City borough Friday for the opening of the Beyonce Cosmetology Center at a residential substance abuse treatment centre.

The Phoenix House offers programs for residents in carpentry, building maintenance, computer technology and culinary arts.

Beyonce said she thought it also should have more programs geared toward women. She said her mother's Houston salon helped so many people feel good about themselves and better their lives.

Beyonce first spent time at Phoenix House when preparing for the role of Etta James in the 2008 film, "Cadillac Records."

SFTC: LATE TORONTO RAPPER "SCRILLA" REMEMBERED IN CANADA'S NATIONAL POST.

I thank Megan O'Toole of the National Post for featuring my client Matthew David Modeste's Story in the National Post. Matthew aka Rapper Scrilla died of the H1N1 flu complicating his diabetes on December 14th 2009.

Matthew's organs were donated to 4 people and he saved lives....Rest in Peace... Listen to one of his songs here. This was my fave! The full story in the post is here. What a tragedy! Keminications pledges to keep Scrilla's memory alive. His new album just came out and will be available soon to the public. His family is wonderful and they all miss him deeply!

SFTC: THE JUNO AWARDS NOMINEES ANNOUNCED. (CANADA'S GRAMMYS)

The 2010 Juno Award nominees were announced on Wednesday morning, and while several familiar faces are up for awards, it was those honoured in more obscure categories who were really celebrating.

For mega-selling artists and multiple nominees like Michael Bublé and Justin Bieber, a Juno nomination is a nice surprise, icing on the cake. It’s not as if their fans will stop buying their albums if the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences fails to recognize them. But for musicians not sitting atop the iTunes charts, a nomination has a more pronounced impact. A nod from the Junos, or better yet a win, can go a long way towards securing grants, getting more tour dates, and may even make the difference between music being a side project or a full-time job.

National Post favourite (and honorary Mountie) Michael Bublé led all musicians with six nominations, including Album and Artist of the Year. Veteran rockers Billy Talent are up for four Junos, including Album and Group of the Year, which ties them with country singer-songwriter Johnny Reid and Toronto rapper Drake, who has yet to release an album. Earning three Juno nominations were Metric, The Tragically Hip, K’Naan, Classified, Diana Krall, and teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, who is up for Album of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

JUNO Week takes place April 12-18, 2010, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, culminating in the live broadcast of THE 2010 JUNO AWARDS, Sunday, April 18 on CTV. Below are the winners KJ and I predict at HipHossip and pictures to prove it. LOL!

NEW YORK - Rap star Lil Wayne has left fans and fellow artists with a video blitz as he braces for as much as a year behind bars at the height of his career.

The rapper was expected to begin his New York City jail term Tuesday after pleading guilty in October in a 2007 gun case.

"He's been approaching this as professionally as he does everything else," his lawyer, Stacey Richman, said Monday.

The multiplatinum-selling rapper, one of the genre's biggest names in recent years, certainly has been preparing for a professional absence. He said in a video clip sent Monday to MTV News that he shot footage for seven music videos with various artists in one night this weekend.

Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He admitted having a loaded gun on his tour bus when it was stopped in Manhattan in July 2007.

His plea deal calls for him to serve his sentence in city jails, rather than state prison. Officials have declined to discuss where he'll be held among the roughly 13,000 inmates in the city's jails.

Lil Wayne was initially due to be sentenced and start his term last month, but the date was pushed back so he could have surgery on his gem-encrusted teeth.

With good behaviour, he could end up spending only about eight months behind bars.

Born Dwayne Carter, he has been a rapper since his teens and one of the genre's most prolific, ubiquitous and profitable figures in recent years. His "Tha Carter III" was the best-selling album of 2008.

His latest album, "Rebirth," was released this month.

After the lackluster fall 2009 season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which was overstuffed with 16 celebrities and pseudo-celebrities, ABC went back to the drawing board and came up with a trimmed-down list of 11 for spring 2010.

And they have a few actual stars in their midst. Vixen and “Baywatch” vet Pamela Anderson (left) is as close to A List as DWTS has gotten, though in more of a wink-and-nod way. Kate Gosselin is tabloid catnip and will be closely watched. Bad girl actress Shannen Doherty is not exactly A list but far more interesting than, say, “90210″ alum Ian Ziering. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was one of the first people on the moon, is a genuine legend and a great pickup as the token “old

ESPN correspondent Erin Andrews, who was recently a victim of a stalker and deeply traumatized by leaked nude photos of her taken by said stalker, is our biggest Atlanta connection. I’m not sure if she still lives here.

Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger adds a bit of faux glitz and certainly has dancing experience.

Two athletes are included: Evan Lysacek, gold-medal winning figure skater, and NFL player Chad Ochocinco. I don’t follow football but reports say he’s quite a character. There’s also a hottie soap star I’ve never heard of Aiden Turner.

And ABC added more eye candy while mining an obvious synergistic tie-in: Jake Pavelka, the recent “Bachelor” and studly pilot.

Actress Niecy Nash, who hosts Style’s “Clean House” and is part of Comedy Central’s “Reno 911!” rounds out the cast.

During a recent interview, Trina opened up about the lost phone.

"I lost my phone and I had some pictures of me that I don’t want the world to see,” Trina said in an interview. “And I’m thinking, if it ever comes out, I’m devastated, but I mean, it’s not sex tape pictures but still, I don’t want you to see them, they’re not for you. But losing a phone and all this stuff happens.” She continued “but it’s a wake up call…I just feel like, what’s personal is personal. I don’t feel like, as an artist, like I need to do anything to expose myself. I don’t need to put out a nude photo for press…I don’t need a sex tape of me and my, my significant other to be worldwide, for the world to see.”

My take is that the scumbag trying to extort her for $100,000 should be arrested by the cops. Trina should not tolerate it. I REFUSE to post the videos of the naked pictures and all these alleged STD rashes with Kenyon Martin etc. We love Trina too much at HipHossip for that shyt!
