This chimp's name is Azalea and she gives a bad name to females and chimps in general. We already have Azalea Banks to deal with. Pyongyang zoo is cashing in though in North Korea as this chimp pulls a heavy crowd. The zookeepers throw in a lighter and a pack of cigarettes which she smokes in a day and she lights them up by herself. With regards to health, they told the media she does not inhale. That girl chimp smokes and acts like a gangsta. there are some YouTube videos online. This is ridiculous and I can see memes coming--KOO

Presumpscot River: Giant Snake Skin Found Near Maine River #HNNEnvironment

Westbrook Police have been cautioning residents and looking for a 10-foot snake, dubbed "Wessie," since it was first spotted near a playground in June. Its skin was found around 3 p.m. Saturday. Westbrook Police Officers responded, photographed, collected, and tagged the skin which will be examined in attempts to determine what type of snake shed it and what risks this type of snake poses to public safety.

Until the type of snake is determined and we can assess the safety risk, we caution people who recreate along the Presumpscot River to remain alert, maintain a safe distance from any wildlife, and report any sightings of the snake to the Westbrook Police Department.

Dogs saved from Chinese Dog festival coming to #Canada #HNNVet

Toronto is set to become home to approximately 100 dogs that were saved from certain, brutal deaths at this year’s infamous Yulin dog eating festival in China.

“We’re working with multiple companies right now to try and find a reasonable price to fly those dogs over,” Rebecca Aldworth, executive director at Humane Society International (HSI) Canada told the Toronto Sun. “This is a wonderful ending for these dogs if we can bring them to Canada.”

The plan is to have 100 dogs come to Toronto in September, Aldworth said, adding an adoption process will happen in the fall.

HSI and its partners have saved approximately 174 dogs and some cats from being butchered, who are all now safe in a facility in northeast China.

Municipal Court Judge Michael Cicconetti is known for doling out creative – and occasionally humiliating – punishments to the offenders who set foot in his courtroom in Painesville, Ohio.

If it had been up to Cicconetti, Michael Sutton would have been the latest recipient of his wrath.

“I know what a lot of people would like to do to you,” he said.

Sutton pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges last week after police said he admitted to throwing a puppy out of a sixth-floor window of an apartment complex May 3. Building staff found the dog’s body in a trash compactor and notified police, who tracked down Sutton and arrested him.

The 23-year-old Ohio man told investigators he killed his dog – a lab-pit bull mix named Knox – because the puppy went to the bathroom on his bed, according to Fox affiliate WJW. The station reported that a humane officer called it the worst case of animal cruelty she’d ever investigated.

By the time Sutton stood in front of Cicconetti on Monday, the outspoken judge admitted that he had a distinct idea of how he’d like to see the pet killer pay for his crime, according to video footage published by NBC affiliate WKYC.

“You are just vicious,” he said while Sutton – handcuffed and solemn-looking – stood before him. “You are revolting. You are cruel. You are inhuman, what you did here.”

He added: “Oh, would I like to put you in a Dumpster? Oh, yeah. I would love to do that.”

But Cicconetti noted that he was unable to administer one of his “creative sentences” because Sutton was not a first-time offender.

Nigerian Minister of Agriculture explains why govt is importing grass for livestock #HNNVet

The barrage of comments, criticisms, questions and name-calling on the social media that have trailed the announcement of an intention to import grass to improve the business of production of cattle, sheep and goats in Nigeria is rather incredible. Too many of such comments smacked of hasty, hollow and inappropriate responses that betrayed a lack of understanding of the subject, the enormity of the problem, the benefits embedded in the planned intervention and the urgency of the need to adopt that measure. I want to put some facts in public domain and in the right perspective for the public to know.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has repeatedly announced that he was changing the system of ruminants (cattle, sheep and goats) husbandry in Nigeria, replacing the time-worn method of nomadism and roaming of animals with intensive and better organised system of keeping animals in paddocks and feedlot. I am aware it will take some knowledge of what is wrong in the livestock industry to understand and appreciate what the minister is talking about. He has said the constantly moving animals don’t grow as they should. He has spoken of availability of grasses of low nutritive values. It is not enough for the animals to eat grass. They need to eat grasses of high level of nutrients. This is the crux of the matter.
Animal rearing in Nigeria is far behind the age we live in, and the system warrants an urgent change. If livestock production is to be truly treated as a business, then sound science must be the bedrock, with improvement of the quality of the existing varieties of grass and of the growing conditions. Those will entail the introduction of better varieties and a deliberate enrichment of the soil so the grasses would meet the nutritional needs of the animals for optimum growth and performance. They make production more profitable, increasing the quantity of meat and milk available to the growing populace.

On the social media, everyone appears to be an expert on all subjects. Serious issues are trivialised, and trivial issues inordinately exalted. Even the least informed commentator proffers solutions to problems on the cyberspace having no bearing with reality. Here, however, is one sensible response among a flurry of criticisms and comments from Vanguard newspaper social media site, in response to the write-up that asked that “must we import grass?” The writer noted that: “As an agronomist and soil science expert there is nothing bad in importing grass if they can be cross bred with local breeds to produce better cultivars for local use. What matters is the cost- benefit to the value chain in livestock production.”

The huge rat was found dead just feet away from a popular playground for children in London.

Gas engineer Tony Smith, 46, spotted the animal while working at a block of flats in the middle of London – and held it up for the camera to see.

Of course, its size is distorted by how close it is to lens – but it’s still a sizeable creature.

Smith said that the rat, which was found near where children play in Hackney Downs, London, was by far the largest he’d ever seen.

Tony, from Dagenham, said: “This is the largest rat I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

"Our friends at FWC have asked us to pass this along to residents in the area of Embers Parkway, between Burnt Store Rd. and El Dorado Blvd., in NW Cape Coral. A group of eight (8) large, healthy coyotes have been identified as living in the area shown on the map. While not usually aggressive or dangerous towards people, coyotes have been known to occasionally get into garbage, and attack small pets. The department wrote on their Facebook page : Cape Coral Police Department Well, technically, we could put a persistent alert up all over the city. Coyotes are just about everywhere and we have seen them as far south as Chiquita Boulevard near Beach Parkway. Like alligators and burrowing owls, coyotes are a natural part of our habitat here in Cape Coral. This particular pack was identified by FWC, who asked us to pass along the info.

An American Doctor KILLED another Lion in good faith? #HNNVet

The Zimbabwean hunting guide accused of conducting an illegal hunt for a wealthy American doctor claims his client didn’t break any laws — and instead acted in “good faith” when he killed a lion with a bow and arrow several months ago.

Landowner Headman Sibanda, who is operator of Nyala Safaris, told The Associated Press on Monday that Jan Casmir Seski, of Murrysville, Pa., had all the necessary paperwork in place to hunt on his property outside Hwange National Park.

The Pittsburgh gynecology oncologist is accused of illegally tracking and killing a lion in April without the proper permit and on land where the sport was outlawed. I personally don't like images like this killing elephants and other animals.

The brother of Cecil, the lion killed in Zimbabwe by an American hunter last month, is not dead, a researcher monitoring the pride told Reuters, contradicting media reports that Jericho had been killed.

“He looks alive and well to me as far as I can tell,” said Brent Stapelkamp, field researcher for the Hwange Lion Research Project which is monitoring the lion with a GPS tag.

A group called the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force posted on its Facebook page that Jericho had been killed at 4 p.m. on Saturday, a report picked up by some Western news media that was rapidly spread on Twitter. I've been overwhelmed as a LEO with my birthday being this week seeing lions abused left and right. What a week! #RIP Cecil the Lion!

The Gator is still on the RUN and kids are still indoors.

Two young kids in Goose Creek, South Carolina, are captivated by their unusual new neighbor: a 10-foot alligator.

The alligator first took up residence in Sonya Gilreath's bushes Thursday morning, she told ABC News today.

"It didn't look very big to me," she said, adding that it seemed like it could have been a baby alligator.

This monstrous one-ton crocodile that terrorized an Ugandan village has been caught after a four-day hunt, according to Ugandan wildlife officials.

Authorities estimate the reptile is about 80-years-old and believe it’s responsible for killing a local resident as well as mauling several other people, a Uganda Wildlife Authority officer told The New Vision.

Wildlife officials used meat on a stick to bait the crocodile and catch it. #HNNAfrica is told it’ll be transferred by truck to Murchison Falls National Park in Lolim, Uganda.
