Remembering Toronto Rapper Michael "Meyend Tricks" George FIVE Years Later.

It was FIVE years ago that someone gunned down Michael George in front of his girlfriend's house. We cannot forget and will NOT forget. Nobody gets away with murder. If you have info about this 7/29/07 murder in Toronto, I need you to call Detective Dan Nielsen at Toronto Police Homicide Squad. The number is 416-808-7400 and it you wish to remain anonymous, pls call 1800222TIPS.

Above is the the 2010 press conference I hosted for his family to speak out. Atlanta R&B singer Tim Campbell was in town that week to attend the Toronto Independent Music awards and was a nominee just like Mike won in BEST RAP category in 2007. He was killed days before the awards were handed out. His family launched his final album at this newser.

This is my fave song on that album. Simply called "MOM" and his mom ended up laying a verse on the final remixed version. This song with reduce you to tears. His sister's voice is also in it. Rest in Peace Michael--MsKemi @HipHossip

REMEMBERING RAPPER MICHAEL GEORGE ON MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND AS IT APPROACHES. LISTEN TO THAT SONG HE SANG FOR HIS MOM BEFORE HE WAS MURDERED.

The rapper that wrote and sang this song was MURDERED! July 29th 2007 when I arrived in Canada. He won the Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Rap. Michael George had DREAMS. He did not get to open a twitter or Facebook account. His last album was given out free to the public by his father. Someone in Toronto opened fire on him outside his girlfriends house. No motive, arrest or nothing.

There is not one day I don't remember this young man. The song was remixed after his death with his sister and mothers voice.  You will cry!! I am crying now and every time I hear it. In 2010 I held an appeal news conference for his family so that we keep Michael's face and name in the news. If you know who killed Rapper Meyend Tricks (Michael George) pls call Detective Dan Nielsen at the Toronto Police Homicide Squad at 416-808-7400. Pls read the links below.

R.I.P Michael and thanks for this song you gave your mother and the rest of us for Mother's Day 2012--MsKemi @HipHossip on Twitter

RAPPER MICHAEL "MEYEND TRICKS" GEORGE REMEMBERED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS ON ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH.

TODAY MARKS 3 YEARS TORONTO LOST A REMARKABLE YOUNG MAN! PLS REMEMBER MICHAEL GEORGE TODAY...

Edwardson George is a big man. And he’s been able to maintain his stature despite the murder of his son Michael, 25, shot dead July 29, 2007, at Wilcox Creek Pathway co-op near Sheppard Ave. and Morningside Ave.

He says there isn’t a moment of any day he isn’t thinking about his boy.

“Very, very hard for me,” George said Friday during a plea for people who know anything to call Crime Stoppers. “He was not only my son, he was my buddy.

“Michael had two names for me: Dad and Pops,” he said.

When Michael, a rapper who went by the stage name Meyend Tricks and whose album 4 Ever was released by his family during the plea, wanted his father to be a buddy, he called him Pops.

“But when he needed me as a dad, he’d just say, ‘Dad, can I speak to you?’” George said.

“Getting up every day has been very, very difficult,” he said. “I have to make sure the rest of the family is okay.

“It hurts,” George said. “I wake up every day and I’m not myself. I’m not 100% because I don’t have him with me and I cannot speak to him, and I cannot call him when I need to talk to him about certain things that we normally talk about.”

The music was supposed to be the young man’s future, but has instead become his legacy.

It’s available on his Facebook page for free.

The night he died, Michael had dropped off his friend in Ajax after a party and then returned to his girlfriend’s townhouse in the co-op.

When he pulled in at 3:30 a.m., he was ambushed by a gunman who opened fire before he could get out of the car.

Toronto homicide Det.-Sgt. Steve Ryan said in 2007 that the assassin apparently lay in wait and the killing didn’t appear random but it was unknown why the young man was targeted.

“I just want the person or persons who perpetrated this crime to be caught,” George said. “They can’t go around doing things like this, hurt so many families, hurt so many people. We want justice, justice for Michael.”

Atlanta R&B artist Tim Campbell also a TIMA nominee came to show support for the George family.

Michael's uncle carries his Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Rap. An award he never lived to see.

Michael's mom Scherry and sister Sarah

Michael’s mom Scherry called for anyone who knows anything to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.

She also challenged the pervasive gang culture mantra of not snitching.

“Man up and be a snitch,” Scherry said.

Const. Scott Mills said while Crime Stoppers points detectives in the right direction, homicide officers need witnesses.

“We can’t solve the case unless we have a witness that gives us the information,” he said. “But if you know who it is and are too scared to come forward, call 1-800-222-TIPS,” or go online at www.222tips.com, or text TOR and send a message to CRIMES.

“I never thought I would be in this position,” George said. “I know what Michael is like. For this to happen to Michael, it tells me they don’t care, people don’t care.

“I miss him dearly, I miss him every second of the day, 365, 24 hours a day,” he said.
