BBC breaks the news that Fiona Woolf has announced that she is resigning as head of an inquiry into historic child sex abuse.

Victims' groups had told Home Office officials the inquiry would be a "dead duck" if she remained chairwoman after revelations about her social links to ex-Home Secretary Lord Brittan.

Mrs Woolf said she had realised that if she did not command the victims' confident "then I need to get out of the way".

The Toronto Police Service has asked MMVAs wristband line-up members to disassemble their tents. As rain is in the forecast for tonight, MuchMusic has decided that for the comfort and safety of our viewers we will hand out the wristbands today, Friday June 11, 2010 at 6 p.m. ET, right after today's broadcast of MuchOnDemand.

This wristband giveaway replaces the wristband giveaway scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Fans who have already received a queue number from MuchMusic will receive their wristband beginning at 6 p.m. ET today. Fans who do not currently have a number will not receive a wristband. Because of the popularity of the MMVAs all wristbands have already been accounted for.

SAD NEWS: Flint, Michigan rapper MC Breed dies at 37.

The legendary Michigan rapper known as MC Breed has died at the age of 37.
According to Detroit news. Influential Flint rapper MC Breed, who was one of the first Midwest rappers to emerge onto the national hip-hop scene, has died, his manager has confirmed to The Detroit News. Breed was 37.

Breed, who scored a hit with his 1991 lo-fi classic "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'" and later collaborated with a young Tupac Shakur, was found dead on Saturday at a friend's home in Ypsilanti, according to Darryl Morris, Breed's manager. No further details were available as of press time. You will remember I did a story on him earlier this year on 3 women who help send him to jail for 5 months over not paying $200,000 in child support.

Breed, whose given name was Eric Breed, had recently been wrestling with health issues and was admitted to a hospital in his adopted home of Atlanta in September after suffering from kidney failure, according to reports. The rapper was put on life support, according to reports, and had only 30 percent functionality of his kidneys. Plans were put in place to throw a benefit concert for the rapper to raise money for his medical bills, but they were put on hold when his condition seemed to improve.

Breed's biggest hit was "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'," from his 1991 debut album, "MC Breed & D.F.C." The song sampled Zapp's "More Bounce to the Ounce" and the Ohio Players' "Funky Worm" and found Breed not only bragging about his hometown of Flint but also stating his goals for the highest office in the land. "If I was the President, then I would state facts," he rapped, "you leave it up to me, I'll paint the White House black."

Breed bolstered his cred when he collaborated with Shakur on "Gotta Get Mine," the lead single from his third album, 1993's "The New Breed." The song came just as Shakur was just starting to earn his bad-boy-of-rap reputation, and it reached No. 6 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.

Over the course of his nearly 20-year career, Breed also worked with Too $hort, the D.O.C., Warren G and more. While never achieving full-fledged mainstream success, Breed was respected in hip-hop circles for his work ethic and his lucid, scratchy-voiced flow.

He recorded 13 albums, and released an album a year between 1991 and 2001. His final album, "The New Prescription," was released in 2004.

Detroit rapper Trick Trick says he looked up to MC Breed.

"I salute him for everything he did," Trick said Saturday. "It was good to see him break out of Flint. It gave a lot of us hope, like, 'We can do this, too.'"

Breed's career cooled considerably in recent years, and he spent eight months in prison for a parole violation that was a result of unpaid child support. In April, a Flint judge sentenced him to 60 days in jail as a result of owing more than $200,000 in unpaid child support to three different women.

New Program: Where are they when we need them?

A huge swath of northwest Toronto has been evacuated following a six-alarm fire early Sunday morning. Anyone in the area bounded by Sheppard in the north, 401 in the south, Dufferin in the east and Keele in the west should leave immediately. If you have friends or relatives there, officers are advising that you stay away and try to contact them by phone. TTC buses were on hand to cart anxious residents away from the smoky scene. Evacuees are being taken to the Yorkdale Mall.

Dozens of explosions at a north-end Toronto propane facility near Wilson Ave. and Keele St. shook a wide area of the city. It started just before 4 a.m. I heard the first one 3.50am on Sunday and police have evacuated us in the area. They are saying that we have to leave because the other 2 tanks are sitting on the railway tracks and may explode flattening homes. If you woke up, you will see the windows of the bank, supermarket and YOUR car blown out!

People that were let back in their homes to get emergency stuff went to the computers loading footage on YouTube, Facebook and MySpace! The authorities are appalled because people should be running for their lives! LOL! KJ will have audio reports later.

OK everybody! This is it! I'm always the bearer of bad news! I live on Wilson Street between Jane and Keele. I heard the explosion thinking it was another weekend gunshot. Then I thought it was some crazy thunder as you know Toronto thunders sound different from the rest of the world. I swear I was updating the sites and it shook me off my seat at 3.50am. Blogging may be temporarily suspended. Keep checking. I will try to do some mobile blogging. Our shelter is Yorkdale mall for now and I have the laptop. This is a WiFi hot spot in front of the Apple store. For those of you that don't know, This is Toronto's biggest mall and it's obviously CLOSED TODAY. One of my sons work in the movie theater in there and I just told him we are living there right now.

Update 11.30am: We are going to be evacuated to York University. That will be a wifi spot as it's a college. I'm gonna camp next to their Dept of Engineering. LOL! AT LEAST EVERYONE'S ALIVE!

BREAKING NEWS: Did Jail guards contribute to Sean Levert's death?

Gillian Sheldon Executive Producer at TMZ is telling me there is developing breaking news regarding Sean Levert's death! TMZ has learned that singer Sean Levert was physically restrained by jail guards right before he died.

Staff at the Cuyahoga County Jail tells us Levert was "out of control" and "hallucinating," forcing them to place him in a restraining chair, because he was a danger to himself. The jail's warden Kevin McDonough says Levert was cooperative and "went willingly" when jail staff bound his wrists and shackled his feet.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner tells us Levert's body showed no signs of physical trauma, nor do they suspect foul play. They are currently awaiting toxicology results -- those will take four to six weeks to come back.

Sean reportedly suffered from high blood pressure. In a statement issued yesterday, the Levert family says "There is no song that can capture the loss that we have in our hearts."

AMY WINEHOUSE 'OFFERED £500,000 ($1 million) TO PLAY FOR HOLLYWOOD STARS.

AMY WINEHOUSE has been invited to sing at a party thrown by Hollywood royalty GEORGE CLOONEY and JULIA ROBERTS. The BACK TO BLACK songstress will reportedly be paid £500,000 to serenade the A-list stars present at an event hosted by Giorgio Armani. The May 2008 event is set to take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume reports Contactmusic.

A source said that Amy was shocked by the request, adding "she hasn't really taken it in - and keeps saying that her life is getting more surreal by the second". Shocked? She won 5 Grammys! Go for it girl! They added that Armani is hoping the party will provide the perfect opportunity to chat to the soul singer about working on future projects together. Recently, Amy picked up £500,000 for showing off her vocal talents at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week.
