#BREAKING UPDATE NEW @NBCNews Camera man in Dr Nancy Snyderman's team tests positive for #Ebola in #Liberia

Sad news as we hear that the FIRST ever media professional has caught the Ebola Virus on location while working. The cameraman whose name is being held per request of the family only just started at NBC News two days ago and was to be Dr Nancy Snyderman's second cameraman in Liberia. Now all of them will be flown privately back to the United States into quarantine and treatment. Snyderman is with three other NBC News employees on assignment in Monrovia, reporting on the Ebola outbreak.

The freelancer came down with symptoms on Wednesday, feeling tired and achy. As part of a routine temperature check, he discovered he was running a slight fever. He immediately quarantined himself and sought medical advice. On Thursday morning, the 33 year-old American went to a Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) treatment center to be tested for the virus. The positive result came back just under 12 hours later.

I interviewed the sister-in-law of Patrick Sawyer in Monovia the index patient in Nigeria and the situation was becoming dire with bodies laying all over the streets and no pick up with people all upset.

The cameraman, who also is a writer, is the fourth American to have contracted Ebola in Liberia. He has been working in Liberia on various projects for the past three years. Below is NBC President Deborah Turness's memo to all NBC staff.

All:
As you know, Dr. Nancy Snyderman and our news team are in Liberia covering the Ebola outbreak. One of the members of their crew is an American freelance cameraman who has worked in Liberia for the past three years and has recently been covering the epidemic for US media outlets. On Tuesday he began working with our team. Today, he tested positive for Ebola.
We are doing everything we can to get him the best care possible. He will be flown back to the United States for treatment at a medical center that is equipped to handle Ebola patients. We are consulting with the CDC, Medicins Sans Frontieres and others. And we are working with Dr. Nancy on the ground in Liberia.
We are also taking all possible measures to protect our employees and the general public. The rest of the crew, including Dr. Nancy, are being closely monitored and show no symptoms or warning signs. However, in an abundance of caution, we will fly them back on a private charter flight and then they will place themselves under quarantine in the United States for 21 days – which is at the most conservative end of the spectrum of medical guidance.
We know you share our concern for our colleagues and we will continue to keep you up to date and informed. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or David Verdi with any questions.

METERAMA: SIMON GETS royal PARKING PRIVILEDGE!

Music mogul SIMON COWELL, the British artist-and-repertoire ("A&R") executive and television personality/producer, best known as a judge on such TV shows as Pop Idol, The X Factor, American Idol and Britain's Got Talent has been awarded a privilege only usually awarded to members of the British royal family and eminent politicians - he can now park his car wherever he likes.

The Britain's Got Talent Judge is reported to have insisted on having a parking space for his $400,000 Rolls Royce outside every theatre holding auditions for the reality TV show, as he doesn't want to be mobbed by fans. According to British newspaper The Sun, officials in Birmingham, England agreed to dig up concrete bollards to let him park on the pavement outside one theatre, and when the show went to the Hackney Empire, East London, Cowell was given special permission to use the Mayor's spot.

A source tells The Sun, "He hates walking anywhere and the idea if being mobbed fills him with fear. So we contacted all the relevant councils and asked them if they could make a special dispensation. "It wasn't always easy as only the (British royal) Queen (Elizabeth II) and senior members of the royal family get to park wherever they like."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TORONTO, CANADA...One day prior to trial date African-American tourist attacked by the Toronto police outside his hotel by Toronto police and falsely charged with assault may lose his lawyer due to lack of additional legal funds. Jason Bogle, Jason Bogle Law Office (www.bogleslawoffice.com), had been the counsel on record, but informed Mr. Allen on Nov. 16th he may no longer proceed due to outstanding legal fees (although Mr. Allen had already paid a significant portion of the fees).

October 16, 2006, at approximately 1:40 pm after checking out of the Econolodge Hotel (335 Jarvis Street) and while in the process of hailing a taxi, Black Americans Tonye Allen and his fiancee, Ann Brown, were assaulted by several Downtown Toronto policemen from the 51st division. Mr. Allen, who did not resist, was beaten and pepper sprayed several times while handcuffed and in police custody. Ms. Brown was choked, shoved, and threatened with arrest as well.
Mr. Allen was never told why he was being detained. The arresting police refused to tell Ms. Brown where they were taking Mr. Allen. After locating the correct police station, Ms. Brown spoke with a "Det. Moyer," who said he "hadn't decided" what he was going to charge Mr. Allen with. Ultimately, Mr. Allen was charged with assault of two policemen and resisting arrest, times two. After Ms. Brown posted cash bail of $1,000, Mr. Allen's passport was taken by "Det. Moyer." Mr. Allen was unarmed. He had never been arrested. He had no criminal history. He has no history of drug/alcohol abuse.

Mr. Allen and Ms. Brown are seeking publicity and legal references to help fight these false charges. Mr. Allen is a photojournalist who works professionally under the name "TRILOBITE." His work has appeared in: Essence, Vibe, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, LA Weekly , and The Source Magazine. He has worked for Sony Music, PolyGram Records, Def Jam Records, and Interscope Records, among others.

Ms. Brown is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Essence, Black Enterprise, Upscale Magazine, The Source , and various other publications.
