RADIOHEAD'S THOM YORKE SAY MAJOR RECORD LABELS WILL FOLD WITHIN MONTHS!

http://cearensesinternacionais.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/thom-yorke.jpg

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is warning the music industry is on the brink of collapse, insisting young musicians should resist signing record deals because the major labels will "completely fold" within months.

The British rockers broke away from their longtime label, EMI, in 2007 and went on to embrace the new digital era with the release their seventh album, In Rainbows, which they offered up over the internet and allowed fans to choose the price. Yorke has now issued a warning to upcoming artists, urging them not to sign traditional record deals because they would be tying themselves to "the sinking ship."

In an interview for a new high school textbook called The Rax Active Citizen Toolkit, which aims to inspire youngsters to become more politically literate, Yorke claims the music industry is on the verge of a major crisis and could collapse completely within "months".

He says, "It will be only a matter of time - months rather than years - before the music business establishment completely folds. (It will be) no great loss to the world."

BREAKARAMA: KINGS OF LEON ARE TAKING A SIX MONTH BREAK TOO.

http://sheenabarnett.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/kings-of-leon.jpg
First Miley Cyrus, then Tiger Woods, now Kings Of Leon are taking a six-month break from music to indulge their favorite hobbies - the rockers have plans for camping holidays and fishing trips. The Grammy-nominated band has finished putting together songs for its upcoming fifth studio album, and the musicians are treating themselves to a hiatus until they need to begin promotional work for the new record next summer (10).

And the bandmembers have already got exciting ideas for their big break. Nathan Followill tells Britain's Q magazine, "We're going to take six months off now. I'm going to sit on my couch and cry tears of joy sitting in my pants with a tub of chocolate chip cookie ice cream. Then it's on to the golf course, a bit of fishing and some camping in the wild. Cooking your own meat under the stars, that's the way to reconnect with something real after a year of immigration lines at the airport."His cousin Matthew adds, "I second that. Camping in Montana, with some fishing."

GUNS N' ROSES 'PLAN STADIUM WORLD TOUR.'

Reformed rockers GUNS N' ROSES are reportedly planning a stadium world tour this summer (09) to promote their comeback album CHINESE DEMOCRACY. The long-awaited disc was released in November (08), a full 15 years after frontman Axl Rose began work on it.
Despite a huge amount of hype, the disc failed to top the U.S. charts and has been considered by critics to be a flop - with many blaming Rose for refusing to appear publicly to promote it.

Last month (Feb09), Rose revealed he had a longterm plan to promote the album - and the band's manager Irving Azoff now hints a tour is in the works. He says, "Axl has been basically quiet, keeping out of the limelight for almost 15 years. People think they know him but they only really only know what has been said about him by questionable people.

He is a good guy and often misunderstood - he is a professional who has worked very hard to build and maintain a high creative standard for Guns N' Roses, which I support. We have some exciting things in the works this year for GNR, I'm looking forward to it."

KAISER CHIEFS DENY RONSON PUBLICITY STUNT.

British rockers KAISER CHIEFS have denied using superproducer MARK RONSON in a bid to boost their profile. The I Predict A Riot hitmakers made the unusual choice of hiring the Grammy-winner to work on their latest album, Off With Their Heads. And the move promoted speculation that the band were seeking to use Ronson's international fame as a publicity stunt. But frontman Ricky Wilson insists the group decided on working with Ronson because he was the only producer to ask them.

Wilson says,

"Mark asked to do the album, you know? He was the only person who did, so because he asked, he got the job. "We realised it was bound to be of interest to people, but we didn't do it as some PR stunt. "If there's a guy who you get on with, he likes going to the pub and he's winning Grammys for records he's made plus he's asking you if he can produce your next record, you'd be daft not to take him up on his offer."
