#HNNPersonality J.Japheth @Omojuwa Speaks with #HNNAfrica as MY PERSON OF THE YEAR 2013
![]() |
| @Omojuwa |
What drives your Activism?
I wouldn't call it activism as much as I would call it just being myself. There is nothing unique about demanding for one's right all the time. It becomes activism when one is often found in a situation where most people would rather be oppressed than stand for their rights. I am driven by my inability to watch anyone step on my rights without consequences. Sometimes I go beyond my personal rights to collective rights, the rights I share with my constituents and immediate society. It is a quest for justice.
Will you delve into elective Nigerian Politics soon?It depends on what soon is but what is certain is that I will not delve into politics until I achieve my personal goals outside of my desires for change in Nigeria. There is time for everything and I just don't feel I have the resources I need for a political career in Nigeria. I believe in the potential of politics to make change happen and I will take on that challenge when there is a balance between my resources and the Nigerian political space.
2013 has been very eventful so far. How do you assess the #OurNass event?
It was organised to be in Nigeria, 24 hours to the protest folks from other parts of Nigeria requested to take part. It could have been better but it was another opportunity to let the Baboon know that the Monkey is not unaware of all the injustice going on and one day soon the chicken will come home to roost.
How does your family support you?
My family supports me by keeping away from my business. No one is telling me to stop and to be careful in such a way as to scare you. That is understandable because they know when telling me to be careful won't make a difference anyway. I'd always take the risks that belong on my path. My family prays for me and they are my major cheerleaders.
How do you view me Kemi Omolololu-Olunloyo?KOO is an exceptional woman. It takes a lot of grit and self-belief to do the things she does. She stands out without a doubt.
This guy is about the truth and for that I chose him as #HNNAfrica's Person Of The Year 2013. Congrats!!

#HNNShowBiz #RIP to James Avery, Will Smith's DAD on Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
| James Avery aka Uncle Phil |
65 years, the age you begin retirement and collect your SSA checks. Not so when I heard the sad news of James Avery passing away yesterday. He was the dad of Will Smith and Alfonso Ribiero in the show "Fresh prince of Bel Air"
Sources close to the actor tell TMZ he died in an L.A. hospital last night. Avery had recently undergone surgery for an undisclosed illness and took a turn for the worse late yesterday.
And we're told his wife, Barbara, had been at his bedside but left for a short period of time to get something to eat. When she came back, she learned he had just died.
