The Rapper got into big problems with the law many times and the final straw was a huge weapons charge stemming from some guns he amassed in a sting. Many fans I spoke to connected the case to the death of his Personal Assistant and felt he had to protect himself. No excuse! T.I was a convicted felon which prevents him from owning a gun. Those were heavy machinery and T.I was not going hunting in the woods according to the ATF. He plead guilty and struck a deal with the U.S Feds to go to jail for a year and perform 1000 hours of community service.

He later blamed fear for the safety of his family and his own life for his arrest on illegal weapons charges last year. T.I. - real name Clifford Harris - was arrested while allegedly attempting to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers just hours before he was set to take the stage at the U.S. BET Hip Hop Awards October 2007.

Then came Mark Winne of Channel 2 in Atlanta, T.I's hometown who approached him for the Crime Stoppers public service announcement.
