WHY DID COLDPLAY TURN DOWN GLEE ?

CHRIS MARTIN and his COLDPLAY bandmates regret snubbing GLEE creator RYAN MURPHY's offer to showcase their music on his hit musical TV show. Before Murphy planned his all-Madonna episode, which aired in the U.S. last week (20Apr10), he approached Coldplay with a view to showcasing the British band's music - but the Yellow hitmakers turned him down. But now the show's a big hit, the bandmates have big regrets about not allowing Murphy access to their back catalogue.

He reveals to E! News that Coldplay told him, "We were wrong." The brains behind Glee has moved on now and is currently considering ep isodes dedicated to Britney Spears and Courtney Love, as well as another show featuring Madonna's hits. And his cast have ideas for musical tributes too - actor Kevin McHale w ants a show dedicated to the music of Cher.

WHAT THE.......CHRIS MARTIN OF COLDPLAY PLANS TO RETIRE NEXT YEAR?

Chris Martin is planning to retire next year. The Coldplay frontman doesn't want to become an ageing rock star and is keen to quit music before he feels too old. He said:
"I'm 31 now and I don't think bands should keep going past 33. "So we're trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we'll just go for it in every sense. I don't believe in time off. "We've still got our own hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we've got to make the most of that."
The 'Clocks' singer - whose last album 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' topped the album charts in 36 countries - claims his band have only had such a successful year because their rivals have taken a break. He added: "The reason we're the biggest band in the world at the moment is because the others are on holiday. That's how you get your breaks. That's how the understudy gets his opportunity. "While U2 and Green Day are away, we've gotten to make the most of it.

Hey Chris, remember you told me earlier this year at Wakestock that you read HipHossip daily? Don't gimme that "we still have our own hair" thing. Gwyneth needs to throw your azz out the door to get playing in the band till you become stone......mmmm.....Rolling stone like senior citizen. LOL! Meanwhile check out Chris and Jay-Z below doing that song "Lost."

CHRIS MARTIN: 'THE BEST BANDS ARE ON HOLIDAY.'

Humble COLDPLAY star CHRIS MARTIN insists his band is the best on the world because U2 and GREEN DAY are on vacation. The British singer/songwriter admits his group will slip down the list of great bands once U2 and Green Day return with new albums in 2009. Martin says, "The reason we're the biggest band in the world at the moment is because the others are on holiday. That's how you get your breaks. That's how the understudy gets his opportunity. "While U2 and Green Day are away, we've gotten to make the most of it."

Can we just tell Chris that this humility is making some of us devils! Coldplay is GOOD, regardless of who's on vacation.

HOTPLAY: DUFFY SETS HER HAIR ON FIRE AT COLDPLAY CONCERT!

http://www.virginmedia.com/images/duffy-gal.jpg
Welsh soul star DUFFY almost went up in flames last week when she accidentally set her hair alight backstage at a COLDPLAY concert. The Mercy singer recently supported the British rockers at a gig in Cleveland, Ohio - but found herself in a potentially life-threatening situation when her blonde locks caught fire from a candle in her dressing room.

She says,
"I was in the dressing room and I had music on and candles alight."The venue was a huge stadium, like a big sports centre. The dressing rooms had big white lights, no mirrors and lockers all along. They were super cool but you wouldn't want to spend three hours in there. So I was giving it a little bit of razzle dazzle. I had dimmed the lights then I lit this candle and it started melting a bit. I thought, 'S**t!' and started blowing it out. I got a cloth to wipe it up and bent down, not realising it was still lit. Then the entire left side of my hair went up in flames."
But her cringe-worthy situation soon got worse when she realised Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was on his way to visit her. She recalls,
"At that moment, Chris was walking down the corridor to say, 'Hi'. I hadn't met him before and the place stank of burning hair. "Somebody came in and said, 'Is someone cooking chicken?' I had black crumbs of hair all down me so I had to give it a chop and pin it back. It was really bad and properly embarrassing. Chris could smell it, you couldn't avoid smelling it. Can you imagine if I had gone up in flames? Nightmare. I honestly saw my life flash before my eyes."
Sorry! I am laughing so bad but it's not funny. I even went to burn some of KJ's hair that was just trimmed just to smell the feeling!! Ouch! That was no "Coldplay." No offense, but I wonder if blonde hair smells like tough black hair as in the race and color? Poor Duffy!

MARTIN TURNS TO McCULLOCH FOR SONGWRITING HELP.

COLDPLAY's CHRIS MARTIN has found a secret songwriting mentor in ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN star IAN McCULLOCH - and often texts the KILLING MOON singer when he's run out of ideas. McCulloch reveals Martin quizzes him about songwriting techniques and even steals Echo & The Bunnymen samples for Coldplay hits.

He says, "When Coldplay was doing their second album I walked into the studio in Liverpool, where they recorded it, and Chris said, 'Hey Mac! We're sampling The Cutter intro, but we're having some difficulty making it not sound like the Bunnymen. I said, 'Just f**king use it.' "I think Chris is great. We text each other, like, 'Hello Mac-o! How do you write lyrics that are good?' I say, 'Either you've got it or you haven't. Do some crosswords, watch pornography.'"

COLDPLAY: 'WE'RE NOT POPULAR ENOUGH FOR A RESIDENCY'

COLDPLAY have turned down the chance to follow in PRINCE's footsteps and perform a residency in London, because frontman CHRIS MARTIN is convinced they aren't popular enough. The Purple Fraud hitmaker sold out 21 dates at London's O2 arena last year (07), and Coldplay have been touted to take over and entertain the capital's music fans over a series of nights.

But despite their millions of album sales, singer Martin believes a residency would be a flop. He says, "He (Prince) sold out 21 nights. I don't think we could. You can't do that unless you've got impeccable facial hair. With my facial hair we could probably sell out five nights."

CHRIS NEEDS TO GET OFF THAT SHYT AND COME PERFORM IT HERE IN TORONTO. THAT LIVING LA VIDA SONG IS THE 7AM SONG NOW ON FLOW FM AND IT'S HOT!
