LATEST: Bosses of Dr. Pepper are to make good on their promise to give every American a free can of soda upon the release of GUNS N' ROSES long-awaited CHINESE DEMOCRACY album. Company officials refused to believe the rockers would release their new album in 2008, and offered to hand out cans of Dr. Pepper if Chinese Democracy ever hit record store shelves. The group announced the album would hit stores in November (08) earlier this month (Oct08) - and now the doubting soda bosses have agreed to pass out the Pepper.

COLDPLAY: 'WE'RE NOT POPULAR ENOUGH FOR A RESIDENCY'
COLDPLAY have turned down the chance to follow in PRINCE's footsteps and perform a residency in London, because frontman CHRIS MARTIN is convinced they aren't popular enough. The Purple Fraud hitmaker sold out 21 dates at London's O2 arena last year (07), and Coldplay have been touted to take over and entertain the capital's music fans over a series of nights. But despite their millions of album sales, singer Martin believes a residency would be a flop. He says, "He (Prince) sold out 21 nights. I don't think we could. You can't do that unless you've got impeccable facial hair. With my facial hair we could probably sell out five nights."
CHRIS NEEDS TO GET OFF THAT SHYT AND COME PERFORM IT HERE IN TORONTO. THAT LIVING LA VIDA SONG IS THE 7AM SONG NOW ON FLOW FM AND IT'S HOT!

ARCTIC MONKEYS PICK UP THE BILL AT PUB OPENING
British rockers Arctic Monkeys were left with a massive $18,500 (£10,000) bar bill when a licensing blunder meant they were forced to give away free booze at the opening of their new pub. Drummer Matt Helders, 22, and ex-bassist Andy Nicholson, 22, who left the band two years ago, had been preparing for months for the opening of The Bowery in the band's home city of Sheffield, England.
But the celebrations went wrong at the last minute when a delay in obtaining a licence for the bar meant the event had to be switched to a private party. And to avoid getting in trouble with the law, the Mardy Bum hitmakers had to dish out free champagne, wine, beer and cocktails to party-goers. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Star Sunday that the musicians were upset about the glitch, adding:
"It had been a highly-trumpeted launch and people were coming from all over to be a part of it. Everyone obviously had a really great night but it wasn't quite the start Andy and the others had hoped it would be."

OASIS DEBUT NEW ALBUM ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK
British rockers OASIS debuted their forthcoming album in New York on Friday (12Sep08), by hiring street musicians to perform brand new tracks on the city's subway. Bandmembers Liam and Noel Gallagher handed 30 local musical groups the sheet music for their new LP and paid them to take to the streets. You know Noel and his PR skills!
All the musicians - ranging from hip-hop to classical - were paid $100 per person The band is currently taking a break while guitarist Noel Gallagher recovers from a bizarre fan attack onstage in Toronto, Canada last week (7Sep08). They were forced to cancel a gig in Manhattan on Friday, because of Gallagher's injuries.
Those injuries again? Can Noel just leave it to the street musicians at this point!

"I literally collapsed when he got out a floor later. He's delicious, he still looks really good." She adds of their second meeting, "I thought: 'He's never going to remember me,' so I just say: 'Hi, I'm Eva, nice to meet you,' and he says: 'Oh, I think we met in Paris.' "I screamed: 'Oh my God, you remember me?' The whole facade falls and I was a complete geek."Jagger is a producer on Mendes' new movie The Women.

"That fortune cookie actually worked. Woke up to 19 text messages. Man City have been bought out by an Arab prince! Rock the f**kin’ Casbah! IRON MAIDEN WITHDRAW NAME FROM VODAFONE AWARDS!!
A statement released by their publicist on Thursday (07Aug08) reads: "Iron Maiden today advised that they do not wish to be featured in this year's Vodafone Live Music Awards category for Best Live Return. "Although nominated in this year's category for Best Live Return following their triumphant recent show at Twickenham Stadium, they felt that since they have always toured regularly throughout their careers it would not be at all appropriate for them to be included for an award for a Best Live Return." The awards will take place at London's Brixton Academy on 18 September (08).

ROSE WRITING HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY!
GUNS N' ROSES star AXL ROSE has started work on his autobiography, according to his close friend SEBASTIAN BACH. Bach insists the singer has got the project well underway and fans will be in for a treat if Rose, a well known perfectionist, ever manages to finish the tome. The former Skidrow star says, "I was saying to Axl one day, 'I'm going to write a book.' He was like, 'Cool. How many pages you got?' I go, 'I've got six pages.'
He starts laughing and goes, 'Yeah, I started my book a while back. I'm up to 12,000 words at this point.'" "He's very prolific. He's just not motivated by fame at all. He's had enough of it. He gets excited by making music, by putting on a concert. Making albums, he loves doing it." Rose has spent the last 13 years working on the latest Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy, which is now said to be nearing release in 2008.

FOO FIGHTERS' HAWKINS 'NERVOUS' ABOUT WILSON TRACK.
"He's a drummer. He grew up on the beach and Gregg always said that we had somewhat similar voices, kinda rough, not exactly Pavarotti, a bit scratchy." And Hawkins admits that his Foo Fighters bandmate Dave Grohl has given his blessing to the collaboration. He adds, "He loved it, thought it was totally beautiful, but I don't think he's ever heard Pacific Ocean Blue. It's hard to sit him down to actually listen to something. "He's as busy as f**k, always got something going on with his family and all that stuff." Wilson, a drummer like Hawkins, drowned in 1983 and has long been regarded as an under appreciated member of the influential band.

GUNS N' ROSES HIT BACK AT INTERNET LEAKS.
Rockers GUNS N' ROSES have moved to halt a series of internet leaks which threatened to disrupt the launch of their new album CHINESE DEMOCRACY. The Mr Brownstone hitmakers threatened legal action against a U.S. website which posted several of the LP's new songs online on Wednesday (18Jun08). Six songs were reportedly leaked from the record and several appeared on Antiquiet.com, according to Blabbermouth.net. And the move prompted the band to issue a cease and desist letter to the site, ordering all of the links to the tracks be removed.
A statement from Antiquiet.com confirms the new music has now been taken down. It reads, "The player has been at least temporarily removed, because it basically broke the entire internet. Also, we got a call from Guns N' Roses." The group have been working on the album since 1995 and it is now said to be finally nearing release.
Now these rock bros are doing what they have to do. After some idiot leaked the whole of L'il Wayne's CD, people still went to buy it and a million copies too. Let's defeat the pirates!
