NO COMMENT: JD BOOTED FROM UNIVERSAL.

Jermaine Dupri was let go from Universal Music on Thursday. Dupri, who served as president of Island Records Urban Music division, basically collected a paycheck but didn't show up to work for several months. "After [his girlfriend] Janet Jackson's album and tour bombed, he didn't come back to work... he just lost heart," sources told gossip paper Page Six. While executives tried to talk to Dupri about his performance, nothing changed. "He didn't bother to do anything that he was supposed to do, like find artists, release records or actually show up," sources said.

His departure follows shortly after Jackson broke ties with Island Def Jam after her latest album, 'Discipline,' posted disappointing sales of less than 500,000. According to Page Six, "Dupri was widely blamed for Jackson's album flop as he insisted on letting her get her way on song selection and production." A rep for Dupri's boss, Island/Def Jam head L.A. Reid, declined to comment

JERMAINE DUPRI SUES SOME NIGHTCLUB!!

JANET JACKSON's boyfriend JERMAINE DUPRI is taking legal action against a Georgia nightclub and promoter - for allegedly falsely using his name to publicise an event. The music mogul has filed suit against Elite Entertainment Group, LLC owners of the Pure Atlanta nightclub in his hometown of Atlanta - and Binyam Yayine, who was responsible for plugging the venue's weekly events.

Lawyers for Dupri claim the star was approached to host an evening of entertainment, called All Black Affair, on 20 November (08). Dupri's manager, Nick Leo, is said to have turned down the request as the star was abroad at the time. The record executive alleges club bosses went ahead anyway and announced he would be making an appearance at the event and hosting the proceedings.

The papers claim Dupri's manager contacted the organisation and insisted his name be removed from the listings, but bosses failed to do so before the event went ahead, according to AllHipHop.com. Dupri is now suing the owners and promoter for violating his right of publicity, unfair competition, false advertising and unfair and deceptive trade practises under the federal Lanham Trademark Act.

They are also accused of violating the Georgia Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act and Georgia common law. Dupri is seeking a permanent injunction preventing the misappropriation of his name, image and likeness by Elite Entertainment, "all profits received from their unauthorised us of Dupri’s name and image", punitive damages and legal fees. The star's attorneys have also requested that the case be heard by a jury in Fulton County, Georgia.

JD wants to get all his $$ ready for his only daughter Shanaiah above....LOL!
