Meet this Cyclist who MISSED both flights #MH370 and #MH17 and taking a Malaysian @MAS flight today.

Cyclist escapes death TWICE after switching off both doomed MH17 AND missing MH370 at the last minute. Maarten de Jonge, 29, at the last minute changed his mind and decided to fly out of Amsterdam Sunday instead of Thursday.

The cyclist had been scheduled to travel aboard the flight that vanished without a trace over Indian Ocean in March. He still plans to take a Malaysia Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday

At a news conference at Schiphol airport, Malaysia Airlines' European chief Huib Gorter said that of the passengers that have been identified there were:
• 154 Dutch nationals
• 27 Australians
• 23 Malaysians
• 11 Indonesians
• Six Britons
• Four Germans
• Four Belgians
• Three from the Philippines
• One Canadian
• All 15 of the crew were Malaysian

A Facebook page has been flooded with tributes to a man believed to have been a passenger on the plane which crashed in Ukraine today killing 295 people.

Dutch passenger Cor Pan posted a picture of a Malaysian Airlines plane of the social networking site earlier today.

He shared the picture with the eerie caption: "This is what it looks like in case it goes down".
He was referring to Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which disappeared on March 8 during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing without a trace.

Cindy Visscher wrote: "Dear Cor rest in peace".

While Saul Jonk added: "Goosebumps .... rest in peace COR. unimaginable".

Rest in Peace Cor.  last video he posted was #DearLord and last status before that was Mind your step. He's with the Lord now. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends and everyone on the plane.

#MH17 (Photos) Why did the New York Times POST a PICTURE of a wreckage victim? #HNNAfrica

Reporters arriving at the scene near the town of Grabovo described dozens of lifeless bodies, mostly intact, in a wheat field with purple flowers, with pieces of the plane scattered across a road lined with fire engines and emergency vehicles. One passenger in a black sweater lay on her back, with blood streaming down her face and her left arm raised.

Breaking news, of course, moves quickly. Real-time reporting tools speed it along. News organizations have developed, in fairly short order, standards for navigating this newfound swiftness. We know to verify facts before publishing them. We know to source on-the-ground images to combat hoaxes. We know that getting it first is not as important as getting it right. The press criticism show On the Media recently published a guide to breaking news. It included nine points, one of which was this: "In the immediate aftermath, news outlets will get it wrong."

This is true. It's true when it comes to reporting. It's also true, though, when it comes to ethics—when it comes to the question of what readers actually need to know and see about unfolding tragedies. The bomb, exploding? The corpse, mutilated? The people falling from the towers? There is a fine line, always, between journalism and sensationalism. And the higher the speed, in general, the higher the stakes.

The New York Times have since replaced the image with that of the wreckage and made corrections to the information rushed as the story broke.

#MH17 #Video President @BarackObama reacts to Jet crash but had no idea it was #SHOT DOWN!

President Obama was at an event when the news came in. It was apparent that he had not being briefed that this plane was shot down. Lawmakers in Washington are now MAD as hell as they are now finding out that Russia may have made a huge mistake here if they actually shot that plane down in this ongoing conflict. The casualties are huge!!

On March 7th 2014, a creepy date I deemed 3/7 leading to ZERO #MH370 and now the mathematical way I think was to rush to the wires to see if that flight had to do with the number 17 and YES It was. 7/17/2014 has a flight #MH17. Washinngton Times has some early interviews and writes: Sen. John McCain said Thursday afternoon that he wasn’t ready to conclude that the Malaysia Airlines crash came as a result of an attack — but he did make clear that trouble was on the way for Russian separatists if suggestions of a purposeful shoot-down proved true.

“To leap to conclusions could be very embarrassing and really inappropriate until we have more information,” Mr. McCain said during an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, just a little while after hearing reports that the plane carrying 295 passengers could have been shot from the sky over eastern Ukraine by Russian separatists.

Mr. McCain said his Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committee has fielded other reports of suspected separatist aggressions that turned out to be untrue, Politico reported.

So he’s trying to keep a steady head with this recent act, and withhold conclusions, Politico said.

“But if it is the result of either separatist or Russian actions mistakenly believing this was a Ukrainian war plane, I think there’s going to be hell to pay and there should be,” the Arizona Republican said, Politico reported.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Anton Gerashenko said through an adviser that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 17 was headed to Amsterdam from Kuala Lumpur when it was hit by a Buk launcher missile.

Mr. McCain said of the incident that “it has the earmarks of a tragic mistake made by someone who had the capability to just shoot down an aircraft, and we know at least from the last couple of weeks that that could be Russian or separatist Russian capability,” Politico reported.
