CANADA: HERE COMES MY INTERVIEW WITH SHAWTY LO!!

He spoke to me on July 1st Canada day, our Independence day last month and we talked about everything that has to be addressed. Shawty Lo is a very independent, vibrant hip-hop artist with his album "Units in the City." He talked about his own label Asylum records and even reflected on D4L his former record label pals. We talked about the "Foolish remix" and I demanded Shawty to sing me part of "Dey Know" and I swooned on the phone line. He goes..... "sing it to you....?" We talked about his controversial appearance at Hot 107.9FM's annual birthday bash which is an annual radio station concert gig. This was the one where T.I supposedly dissed him and the beef began. Shawty does not sound like a beef monger to me. He used and still performs in the parking lot of a neighborhood supermarket called Super Giant in Bankhead. This community service has bought out community members of all ages and even leaders as Shawty takes care of everyone in Bankhead. I can safely compare Bankhead to Regents Park. Many are underprivileged and trying to succeed everyday while seeing drug dealing, shootings and other crimes in the hood. The supermarket gig has now become a commercial center where people can get FREE diabetic testing, kids get face painting, free snacks and more. He said he himself is diabetic and wanted to give back to the community on staying healthy. I agree he is a POSITIVE role model for the young ones.

He says he wants to get into ventures too. Clothing lines, drinks, movies, sitcoms and any other ventures out there related to the hip-hop culture. He also says JAY-Z (Shawn Carter) is his IDOL and his dream collaboration partner! He also says he has not worked with Producer Jermaine Dupri yet when I asked him about collaborations and music production. The BIG question was about T.I (Clifford Harris) and Shawty stated that he is the KING, PERIOD! Need I say more he says if T.I feels like he's a King, then he's one but NOT his KING! "I'm a leader not a follower" he said. Shawty wants you to know that!!!



He was nominated for 5 OZONE awards and the awards were given out last week in Houston, Texas. He won the BEST BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST!
