A commission source told Tribune Online that Akpabio was arrested on Friday afternoon and was still under interrogation at the official closing hour.
There was, however, according to the source, the possibility of the former governor being granted an administrative bail on Friday night with travel documents to be seized from him.
Akpabio, who is the Senate Minority Leader, has been under investigation by the commission following a petition alleging that he stole billions of naira while at the helms of affairs.
