Erin Burnett: CNN Host Presses Ben Carson on Trump's Claim That Clinton Can Only Win by Cheating. Spencer Bolesta of Conservative news today wrote on his Facebook page:

"CNN’s Erin Burnett grilled Dr. Ben Carson on claims made by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump that a Hillary Clinton win in Pennsylvania would involve cheating.

Trump made his comment during a rally Friday night in the Keystone State. Burnett seemed focused on getting Carson’s reaction to the statement moments later on CNN.

“He’s obviously referring to some of the well-known irregularities that occurred around the Philadelphia area in the last presidential election,” Carson said, steering the conversation toward the topics of voter fraud and voter I.D. laws.

But the CNN host did not seem interested, circling back to Trump’s use of the word “cheat.”

“Probably it would be a much better thing to concentrate on how to make sure there is no voter fraud,” the former presidential candidate and Trump supporter said.

Burnett pointed to poll numbers showing Clinton in the lead in Pennsylvania, and noted that the large margin “isn’t something that any voter fraud could explain away.”

“I guess I’m really just trying to understand, do you think he went too far when he said that she would cheat?” Burnett asked, trying to elicit the response she was looking for from Carson.

“I would have said it in a different way,” he replied."

During a commercial break on Wednesday night, in between segments of the CNN Republican debate, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager told reporters gathered in her Brooklyn headquarters that the Republican Party frontrunner, Donald Trump, had been demonstrating more of the “sexism” he’s shown “the whole time he’s been in the race.”

On the campaign trail, Clinton has characterized Trump’s comments about women as “outrageous” and “offensive.” But the remark from her manager, Robby Mook, amounted to a more explicit characterization of Trump as sexist.

Mook, standing near the front of a conference room in the campaign’s 11th floor offices, took questions for about three minutes from political reporters invited to watch the second GOP debate with Clinton aides on Wednesday night.

Responding to a question about Trump’s effect on Clinton, Mook said, “The bigger issue is how damaging he has become to the Republican Party. He has completely driven them to the right,” he said. “I think you saw more insult, more bluster, more sexism tonight.”

So, if he is wise, he will slow down. President Muhammadu Buhari, as an army general, has fought more battles than him and has an understanding of things. The PDP was never dead. We were only given a bloodied nose, not a technical knockout. So, this is an opportunity to start regrouping and getting ready for 2019. I want to salute the dexterity and perfect political manoeuvres for which the PDP is well known. People like Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande in Osun have always been local champions. Now, they have come to the national level of politics and they are now learning the tricks that all that glitters is not gold. I congratulate Saraki and Ekweremadu. They understand what Nigeria is all about.”

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday maintained that he deserves the votes of Nigerians as his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has done well in many sectors in the last four years.

Dr. Jonathan was answering questions on an African Independent Television (AIT) programme, Kaakaki.

Stressing that PDP still has the most formidable structure among the political parties, he said he was not worried about the possible outcome of the forthcoming presidential electon.

He said: “I believe Nigerians should vote for me and I want Nigerians to vote for me because we have done well. Sometimes, as a government, we are busy working and we don’t advertise what we have done.”

“Sometimes, it appears not much (is done). Nigeria is a very big country…If you assess what we have done in a number of areas, we have done quite well and I believe that if Nigeria is linking up to where we were before and what we have done over these four years of government, they will want us to continue to make sure we at least complete some of the ongoing programmes.”

“We believe that in several areas, we have tried and we are working very well and if encouraged in the next four years, at least Nigeria will be able to stabilise in various sectors.”

The President however admitted that it will be tougher to win the election now than it was in 2011.

He said: “In 2011 there were four strong parties. The PDP was strong, the ACN was strong, the CPC was strong and the ANPP was strong. So we had four strong political parties presidents sharing the votes of Nigeria. Yes I agree with you it was easier in 2011 but PDP is still the dominant party.

“In 2011 we had three presidential candidates against the PDP it was easier. But if these three have come together no matter how strong, in politics coming together also has a cost. As a second term president, globally in 70 per cent of the cases it is most challenging for the President to secure a second term than first term.”

He noted that people from the PDP that gave the opposition the strength it currently enjoys, adding that if the PDP elements were to leave the opposition, they would crumble.

He said: “Even the opposition will tell you if they are realistic. Who has strengthened the opposition? Are the not the PDP elements? If you remove the PDP elements from the opposition, they will just crumble like a pack of cards.”

“Why are people aggressive towards the PDP to the extent that even the presidential convoy is stoned? Why do you show that aggression? If you are comfortable, you will not do that.” he said

Jonathan maintained that the increasing victory against the insurgents close to the election period was not political as the military had just started receiving about 65 per cent of the required equipment to fight the insurgents.

Borno State Government has declared Monday as a work-free day for the presidential campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari.

This announcement was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Jidda, which was made available to journalists in Maiduguri on Sunday.

Jidda said the gesture was to enable residents of the state to welcome Buhari to the state for his campaign rally.

The statement read, “The Borno State Government has declared Monday as a work free day.

“The declaration is to enable the people of the state to welcome the APC presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, who will arrive Maiduguri on a campaign visit on Monday.”

Jidda called on APC party supporters to come out en mass to welcome the guests.

The SSG added, “Governor Kashim Shettima has enjoined all Borno residents to come out en mass and line up the streets to welcome the Peoples’ General.”

Meanwhile preparations have been finalised to give the presidential candidate a glorious reception in Borno State. 

A visit to Ramat Square, which will hold the campaign rally, on Sunday afternoon by our correspondent showed that a massive podium was already in place.
