Jeni McKenzie is probably the BEST radio personality I know in Canada, not just Toronto, the whole of Canada. As most of you may know, she is the leading on air Radio personality that promotes Canadian Artists the most. In fact Jeni was HipHossip's Radio Woman of the year in 2008. She launched her website www.jjisjeni.com . Knowing the Jeni I know, this website is not even about herself. It's about what else? CANADIAN artists and the rest of us. What cool humility?

The humble Jeni has put together a collage of videos featuring artists like Johnny Roxx, Kim Davis, featured Producers, and even beats from them. She has the "On the go" blog coming soon and also a "Green Tip" blog. Jeni is a earth friendly guru too. You can get all your recycling tips here and more. She dishes this out from her show on FLOW 93.5FM. Jeni Jeni Jeni, still the nicest human being in the music industry had all her peeps come out and show her love. It was packed with Canadian urban music superstars like Rochester, Kim Davis, Drake, Johnny Roxx, Lindo P and more.

UNNECESSARY CONTROVERSY: FLOW 93.5FM'S JENI WAS DEFINITELY MISHEARD!

Roughly two weeks ago, the Juno award nominations were announced. These are the Grammys for Canada. The day after that, there was a major barage of e-mails sent to me here at the HipHossip office. The roughly 10 e-mails complained that when Jeni, FLOW 93.5FM mid-day personality announced the rap Juno nominations, she referred to one of the nominees ignorantly. The nominee category in question is the coveted rap recording of the year.

When Jeni announced the nominees, she said the name of the artist and album. For example, Kardinal Offishall, Not 4 Sale.......but when she got to Regent Park's rap group, Point Blank, e-mailers claim she said......"Point Blank.....some album." What Jeni said was "Point Blank....SAME album." This album is self titled and it was a complete misunderstanding.!!

This devastated Jeni McKenzie that she called me here almost in tears if not already. She was on the air that day too. Jeni is one of a few radio personalities in Toronto that actually promote Canadian artists. I placed a call to Wayne Williams, Program Director of FLOW 93.5FM who spoke with me in detail after the program logs were pulled. The shows are logged as in RECORDED and one can go back and listen to the audios.

Jeni e-mailed me.....

"I am disappointed that anyone would think I would ever go on the air and diss someone who has put their heart and soul into an album! I know how hard this business is and I was proud of EACH of the nominees!" Luckily we have the ability to pull up my live breaks from our logger to prove that I never said anything like that.

For all the readers that complained, it was not any form of hating on Point Blank. I spoke to their Manager about it as well and she wasn't aware of the broadcast as she was not listening at the time. Here at HipHossip, I like to always dissect the controversy out there and set the record straight. Yes I am a pro-Flow and pro-Z listener but the fact remains that there are still haters in the city trying to start something. This is Toronto, where you see the world in one place. 10,000 accents, everyone's an immigrant and the way I say "same" might sound like "some" to others.

Jeni McKenzie is radio personality on Toronto's Flow 93.5FM and arrived on Toronto radio from the Bahamas just over a year ago and has surely made her mark here. I spoke candidly with her in a 10 minute phone interview and look forward to meeting her in person 2009. A single mom of a teenage son, she spoke to Hiphossip about what she wants to give Torontonian radio listeners on her five hours on-air everyday.

Jeni has consistently been vibrant every day with a voice that uplifts us all no matter how bad our day may be going and then she has the mid-day mix with Jason Chambers which could literarily get us doing the lotto 649 "Happy Dance." Living most of her life in the Bahamas, JENI comes to FLOW 93.5 with 12-16 years broadcasting experience under her grass skirt! Born in Halifax and raised in Toronto, JENI moved to the Bahamas in 1991 and began her radio career, doing Middays as JJ at 100JAMZ. She has won many awards during her radio career including Best Host and Favorite Radio Personality 3 years in a row.

You can find everything from Soca to Jazz to R&B/Hip Hop in her IPOD, but her love for Reggae music is evident in her hosting duties as she has hosted countless Reggae shows including several shows for the Marley family. Excited to be back in Toronto, and to be a part of the FLOW family, JENI looks forward to bringing the same vibes, passion and energy that she is known for to her FLOW listeners during the mid-day.
