Jennifer Hudson, will be starring in an hour-long primetime Christmas special this holiday season. ABC has announced that Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home For Christmas will air on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 8PM ET/PT. The show will feature Hudson singing popular holiday songs such as “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night,” but will also follow her throughout her hometown of Chicago. Hudson will take us to see places that evoke special childhood memories and locations that have influenced her musically.

The one-hour Jennifer Hudson Christmas Special, which will take place in Hudson’s hometown of Chicago, will follow the star as she “relives her childhood Christmases with musical performances shot on location at the small neighborhood church where she brought the congregation to its feet week after week; the music academy where she studied; and other Chicago sites,” ABC said in a press release.

Hudson will also visit with family and “childhood friends and others whose influences have been instrumental in her rise from humble beginnings to Hollywood stardom.” “I am thrilled that Jennifer chose ABC to be the home for her very first holiday special,” said Vicki Dummer, senior vice president, Alternative Series, Specials and Late-Night, ABC Entertainment Group. “I can’t wait to hear her take on Christmas classics as we discover what she loves about her hometown of Chicago.”It was somber as she also lost her mom, brother and nephew in the process.

SOUTH AFRICAN ACTORS DON'T WANT J-HUD IN MANDELA FILM.

South African actors want to stop Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson from playing Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in a new film on the ex-wife of the nation's first black president, reports said Monday.

The Creative Workers Union of South Africa said using foreign actors to tell the country's stories undermined efforts to develop the national film industry.

"It can't happen that we want to develop our own Hollywood and yet bring in imports," the union's president Mabutho Sithole said in The Citizen newspaper.

"This decision must be reversed, it must be stopped now," union secretary general Oupa Lebogo said in The Times. "If the matter doesn't come up for discussion, we will push for a moratorium to be placed on the film." Read the rest...

Five months after boyfriend David Otunga proposed to Jennifer Hudson on her 27th birthday, she returned the gesture with a surprise of her own: a proposal on Otunga's birthday.

The Grammy-winning singer did it last month with style, presenting Otunga – a Harvard-educated-lawyer-turned-pro-wrestler – with a personally designed Neil Lane engagement ring rocking out at 5 carats.

"Jennifer wanted to give him something really special when she asked David to marry her," says Lane, who worked with Hudson for months to design the ring. "It was very sentimental and romantic. ... They are really in love."

She said: "I want my dogs to be in my wedding.

I am so serious." Jennifer also hinted her dress could be "the most untraditional thing" about the day, adding: "Everybody comes down the aisle in a white gown. Maybe I'll give it a twist." The Oscar-winning actress has lots of experience of marriage ceremonies because of her previous job as a wedding singer.

Jennifer Hudson's Brother-In-Law Indicted for Triple Murder!

William Balfour, the man charged with the murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew, was formally indicted on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion on Tuesday. Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Julia, was listed as a person of interest early in the investigation and was arrested earlier this month for the triple murder of the Academy Award-winner's family.

The bodies of Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, and brother Jason Hudson, 29, were discovered last October in their Chicago residence. Hudson's 7-year-old nephew Julian King was found three days later in an SUV.

Balfour is being held without bond on a parole violation at Illinois' Stateville Correctional Center.

In related news, Hudson is scheduled to make her first public appearance since the tragic murders. The singer/actress has been tapped to pay tribute to Neil Diamond at February's MusiCares Person of the Year gala.

JENNIFER HUDSON CANCELS VIDEO SHOOT!!

JENNIFER HUDSON has cancelled the shoot for her new video - just days after she announced she was ready to go back to work following the murder of three members of her family. The Oscar-winning actress/singer was due to start shooting the promo for her latest single, If It Isn't Love, in October (08) but was forced to scrap the plans and return to her native Chicago, Illinois after her mother, brother and nephew were killed.

Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson were found shot dead at their home in the city. Hudson's nephew Julian King, seven, was found dead three days later. The star's estranged brother-in-law has been charged with all three murders. Earlier this week, Hudson announced she would begin filming the postponed project next week (beg15Dec08), but has now reportedly put the plans on hold once again, after deciding she is not yet ready to face work.

A source tells Usweekly.com, "The video was set up before the tragedy and she felt like she should finish what she started, but she's realised that she's not ready to go back to work. It's too early." A representative for Hudson has confirmed the shoot will not be taking place, but insisted that plans to start filming next week were never finalised, saying: "The video shoot was never confirmed."

R.I.P to her family. That kinda tragedy takes a long time to heal.

WILLIAM BALFOUR ARRESTED FOR HUDSON MURDERS!

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew, Chicago police are expected to charge Hudson's sister's estranged husband, William Balfour, with the three homicides.

According to a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department, the 27-year-old Balfour, who has been in custody since the October 24 slayings on a parole violation, was transferred to Chicago police custody on Monday (December 1), after being served with an arrest warrant.

Balfour was later transported to the Wentworth area, where he will be held pending approval of the charges by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

During a closed hearing last month, investigators presented evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon used in the murders; he was scheduled for another parole violation hearing on Wednesday.

And the property billionaire has revealed a devastated Hudson took up his kind offer, and is currently residing in New York's Trump International Hotel & Tower free of charge, along with relatives. Trump tells People.com, "She's a great girl. And we're protecting them well.
They are very safe."

The main suspect in the case, William Balfour, who was married to the Oscar winner's sister Julia, is still being quizzed by officers over the slayings. He lost a bid for freedom on Monday (10Nov08) after the Illinois Parole Board found "probable cause" for him to remain behind bars until next month (Dec08).

The man questioned in connection with the shooting deaths of
Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew will remain
in custody for a parole violation, authorities said Monday.

William Balfour, 27, was first detained for questioning on Oct. 24, the
day that Hudson’s mother and brother were found shot to death. Authorities
later said they were holding Balfour for an unspecified parole violation.

At a parole hearing Monday, testimony included one witness who said she
had seen Balfour with a gun.

Another hearing for Balfour was scheduled for Dec. 3.

No one has been charged in connection with the slayings.

Balfour is the estranged husband of the singer’s sister, Julia Hudson,
and the stepfather of 7-year-old Julian King, one of the victims.

Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found
shot to death in their South Side Chicago home. The body of 7-year-old Julian
was found three days later in an abandoned SUV on Chicago’s West Side. Police
later found a handgun near the vehicle.

According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Balfour spent nearly
seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing
a stolen vehicle. He was free on parole at the time of the shootings.

Hudson won a best supporting actress Oscar for her portrayal of Effie in
the film version of the Broadway musical “Dreamgirls.” She competed on the
third season of “American Idol” in 2004, making it to the top seven contestants
before being eliminated from the contest.

OPRAH WINFREY is helping JENNIFER HUDSON mourn the loss of her mother, brother and young nephew by hiding the actress out at her luxury Chicago, Illinois apartment. Hudson dashed back to her home city on 24 October (08) after learning her mum Darnell and brother Jason had been found shot dead at the family's home on Chicago's south side. Her sister Julia's son Julian, seven, was abducted from the scene and found dead in an abandoned SUV across town just three days later.

The devastated Dreamgirls Oscar winner has stayed in the city since, under the watchful eye of Winfrey. A source tells America's Star magazine, "Jennifer has been staying at Oprah's East Lake Shore Drive condo. There's plenty of privacy and security there."

Oprah is the one to be with these days. Everyone has this security with her. Just ask Obama.

Hundreds of mourners streamed into a private funeral service for Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's slain mother, brother and nephew Monday at a South Side church.

Small blue tickets that read "Hudson Family Funeral" were needed to enter the massive Apostolic Church of God, but that didn't deter crowds of onlookers who gathered outside.

Police directed traffic around the building, keeping passers-by across the street from its large front parking lot and away from those attending the services for Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, Jason Hudson, 29, and Julian King, 7.

A PUBLIC MEMORIAL NOW SET UP FOR THE HUDSON FAMILY.......

A public memorial service has now for Jennifer Hudson's slain mother, brother and nephew is planned for Sunday at the South Side Chicago church where the Oscar-winner grew up singing. "The Hudson family welcomes anyone who wishes to attend and pay their respects to these three beloved members of the Chicago community," reads a statement from Hudson's rep.

Neither the singer-actress nor her sister, Julia, the mother of slain 7-year-old Julian King, are expected to attend the public observance. The service will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4526 S. Greenwood in Chicago. The memorial will be preceded by the private service.

HUDSON FAMILY TO BE LAID TO REST ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 3RD 2008.

TMZ is reporting that a memorial service for the Hudson family will be for invited guests only and, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the newly created Hudson-King Foundation.

No word on a public memorial. It's a shame they want all that privacy! The public has been there for them but then I don't have the say. R.I.P
