The Roman Catholic Church in Scotland wants Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle to perform for Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Britain later this year, a spokesman said Sunday

Boyle, who was catapulted to global stardom after appearing on a British TV talent show, would be a "great asset" to events planned for Benedict's trip in September, said a spokesman for the Church in Scotland.

He said there were hopes a meeting could be held to discuss the involvement of the Scottish singer at a public mass in Glasgow during the papal visit.

"She certainly would be a great asset to the programme on the day and we hope to be able to discuss the possibility of her participation soon," said the spokesman.

There was no confirmed agreement with the star as yet and no formal invitation or approach had been made, he added.

The leader of the world's Catholics will be in Britain on September 16-19. Besides Glasgow, he will visit London and Coventry, where he will beatify Cardinal John Henry Newman, a 19th century theologian.

Boyle -- a plain, single, unemployed 49-year-old -- was discovered in April last year when she stunned judges on the television show "Britain's Got Talent" with her performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables".

Although she ended runner-up in the competition, footage of her singing became a YouTube hit, with more than 100 million viewings.

Her first album, "I Dreamed a Dream," was the best-selling debut in British chart history and also topped the US charts.

Boyle, from Blackburn in eastern Scotland, has become the focus of enormous media attention since her talent show success, with British tabloid newspapers dubbing her "SuBo".

Rapper releases video directed by Heath Ledger.

An Australian rapper who was a boyhood friend of Heath Ledger has released a music video the star directed shortly before his death.

N'fa Forster-Jones posted the 3 minute, 31 second-clip for his song "Cause An Effect" on his YouTube and MySpace pages on Thursday, along with a video in which he explains how the project came about.

Ledger, the celebrity-shy star of Batman blockbuster, The Dark Night, and the posthumously released The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, shot a handful of videos for low-profile artists he liked. Ledger died aged 28 in New York from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008.

Forster-Jones, who had been friends with Ledger since they were toddlers in the Australian city of Perth, said the video was shot in one day in the garage of Ledger's beachside apartment.

"He gave me a call one morning, as he often did at crazy hours, and he's like, 'N'fa, I've got this idea for a video,'" the rapper says in the online posting.

"He was basically running around directing me each shot," he said. "It was a really cool day."

"Every day I count my blessings that I got to have him direct this piece of art," he said.

The video was first shown at a collection of Ledger's work at the Rome Film Festival earlier this month.

In documents filed at the Family Court of the State of New York, Williams further claims her son - who is currently residing with Dash - is "living with no hot water (sic) or electricity for two months in his bedroom". Williams demands Dash pay $3,600 for their son to go to the city's Hoftstra Basketball Camp and place $10 million in a trust fund. Williams has been fighting Dash for custody since 2003. That's a long time!! Dash - who is expecting his second child with wife Rachel Roy - was unavailable for comment.

I was in college then in the mid-1980s, when the media attacked singer Michael Jackson by fabricating rumors that he wanted to purchase the Elephant Man's bones. Jackson extensively refuted the lies of the media. In 1993, during an interview at his Neverland Ranch, Michael Jackson told Oprah Winfrey that it was, "another stupid story. I love the story of the Elephant Man, he reminds me of me a lot, and I could relate to it, it made me cry because I saw myself in the story, but no I never asked for the... where am I going to put some bones? In a 1989 music video for the song "Leave Me Alone" (from Moonwalker), Jackson could be seen dancing alongside a claymation version of Merrick's bones. This was a piece of sarcastic humor, as other parts of the video dealt with how Jackson was unfairly portrayed by the malicious media. I didn't know we were that malicious in the media?
