OPINION: Why I won't be celebrating #MothersDay with Nigerians today--@KemiOlunloyo

After living outside this country for over 35 years, I returned to so many cultures that I have not accepted and one of those is the HATE culture. I grew up in a society where discrimination will not be tolerated. I do not hate anyone because of their sex, race, sexual orientation, nationality, creed, colour, religion and more. type my name and the word GAY and you will see that I have been one of the more vocal voices in the fight for gays in Nigeria. We have a culture of hate and a law that has programmed Nigerians to HATE.

Now comes a post on #HNNEducation encouraging parents to get kids to blog as my won KJ is an award winning blogger while in Canada. I woke up this Mother's Day in Nigeria and some parts of the world to see a lot of comments praising my kid. Bose Akinrimade described my son as "Baby Gay"!

This is not the first time Bose Akinrimade will post weird vicious things on my page. I always expose these kinds and aim to teach them a lesson in hate. The last person that insulted my son was banned a year ago on my page. That person called my son a monkey looking child.

Just last week, a mother killed her 4 y/o son in America because she thought he was acting gay. That story hurt me as a mother and Journalist. How do you feel when some kids feel if you call them gay? Not all my children share my homosexual views especially one of my adult children. You need to apologize to my family My son read this comment and was deeply hurt that anyone could write such a thing on my fanpage. KJ is the ADMIN on this page and has been working with me since 6 as we launched HipHossip together in 2007 in Canada.

Nigerians continue to display ignorance and they wonder why I keep to myself while I visit Nigeria. many fans say that I have not been seen at events and they want to meet the face behind the newspage. With comments like this, I never have interest in meeting anyone.

I am very hurt today. I celebrate Mother's day in May with my children and I am glad I still have that option as I don't feel that today is worth a day to celebrate with some of these fans.

KJ AND HIPHOSSIP COVERED WEDAY 2010

Founded by Craig and Marc Kielburger, Free The Children’s We Day is more than just one day of celebration and inspiration. It’s a one-of-a-kind event and part of an innovative year-long program created to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change in the world.

We Day is a day-long event with speakers and performers that kicks off a year-long program of action called We Schools in Action. The program helps students develop and implement one local and one global project to help youth who do not have access to basics like food, clean water and education. The goal is to encourage young people to take local and global action throughout the year.

KJ THE KID REPORTER was the only kid media present and also one of the 6 media outlets privileged to cover the red carpet interviews alongside media greats like The Canadian Press, MuchMusic, MTV Canada, Aux TV and CTV. He was also interviewed by MuchMusic. KJ got to interview musicians "Down with Webster", K'naan, the cast of MTV's Buried Life, Olympic skier Alexander Bilodeu, Ghanaian singer Rocky Dawuni, the Kielburgers Craig and Marc who founded WeDay, young singing phenomenom Greyson Chance and also Jacob Hoggard of Hedley.

Several dignitaries and speakers include Rev Jesse Jackson, Former US VP Al Gore, Former British first lady Cherie Blair, Spiritual leader Deepak Chopra and more. The event lasted from September to November 2010 in three Canadian cities Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Enjoy KJ's pics.
