Nigerian Supreme Court Affirms the Death Sentence of Rev King #BREAKING UPDATE #HNNCrime
The Supreme Court has affirmed the death sentence passed on the General-Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo (aka Rev. King), by a Lagos High Court in Ikeja for the murder and attempted murder of some members of his church in 2006, Punch reports.
The cleric was sentenced to death by hanging by then trial judge of the Lagos High Court, Justice Olubunmi Oyewole (now Justice of the Court of Appeal) on January 11, 2007.
A five-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Walter Onnoghen, on Friday, dismissed the appeal filed by the cleric against the concurrent judgments of the Lagos High Court in Ikeja and Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, which had both convicted him of the alleged crimes.
The condemned cleric was arraigned before the Lagos High Court in Ikeja on September 26, 2006 on six counts of murder of a member of his church, Ann Uzoh, and attempted murder of five other devotees.
He was said to have poured petrol on the deceased and the five other victims and set them on fire thereafter.
One of the victims, Uzoh, was said to have died on August 2, 2006, 11 days after the incident, as a result of the injuries said to have been sustained from the burnt.
She was said to have been 65 per cent burnt in the fire incident.
Ezeugo had appealed to the Court of Appeal against the judgment of Justice Oyewole.
But the judgment of the Lagos High Court was affirmedd by the Court of Appeal in its verdict delivered on February 1, 2013.
The judgment of the appeal court was further affirmed by the Supreme Court on Friday.
In his opening remarks, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, who read the lead judgment, said, “The fact of this case could have been lifted from a horror film.”
The Justice Amina Augie-led three-man panel of the appeal court, had unanimously dismissed Ezeugo’s appeal, stating that the prosecution had “surely and effectively” proved its case against him at the trial court.
Justice Fatima Akinbami who read the lead judgment had dismissed the appellant’s contention that there were “contradictions and inconsistencies” in the prosecution’s evidence.

My letter is a strong alert for the bread seller turn model. Her management and fans can swallow it with a grain of salt. This story is not new. It reminded me well of the kid discovered on social media who amassed millions of Instagram followers, appeared on CNN and more. He committed suicide when the fame went down. Another model was discovered by Justin Bieber on Instagram and she is dealing with the sudden fame harshly. Sudden fame may not be for everybody. When I heard about Olajumoke, I was disgusted to see how the so call talent scouts treated her. They acted like vultures which they were by swiping her off the streets and throwing her into every photo shoot and endorsement deal. Her husband became a baby sitter of sorts, another child missing from the picture and her mentality been upgraded away from the values that she should have.
The first thing that angered me was the fact that her own modeling agency could take a logo backdrop photo of her and her contract with her looking totally ungroomed. This to me shows how hasty these people are to get the money moving in. They also got her an endorsement deal with Stanbic bank and yet her husband is still telling the media that if she gets rich, "they both own it". Is any money coming in yet? The husband has now become the babysitter and probably the housekeeper because she will be busy with modeling assignments. He does not appear to be happy in these pictures.
I attended the world's most famous modeling school at 18yo (John Robert Powers) and modeled in JC Penny catalogues with top models Iman, Christy Turlington and Cheryl Tiegs back in 1983. I was the youngest. Anyone who remembers that, most of today's Olajumoke fans not even born will know that models have agents and managers. It is not limited to a family member. Orisaguna's husband should be managing her is not the answer but he should know how the money will be shared. He must be involved in all financial dealings, however this is not very common with models. Most have no husbands and children. This fairy tale story is not about luck. People attacking me on social media are simply fascinated with my facts.
Olajumoke is not a role model or icon. Many people were discovered before her. Notice how Nigeria is not celebrating her and it's the Yorubas celebrating her and even attacking me. The fact is that she is a primary school dropout that has not made an effort to learn to read and write English. Stop supporting her illiteracy saying English is not her language. TY Bello not discovering her would have simply left her an illiterate for life. I hear she's now getting ESL classes. Her business dealings are not going to be in Yoruba. Many need to wake up from the streets of hawking. Stop asking how many people I have discovered. Countless in the music industry and the streets of Toronto and Ibadan. That's not the point. My biggest fear is that she may return to the streets again one day and this super fairy tale life will vanish. Then she will despise all hawkers. It will take one bad deal in the industry to end everything. I heard Olajumoke was flown in an airplane the first time to Abuja for a speaking engagement. Such events has to be in English. She's got to know the corporate world but at a slow pace. My points are valid. Nigeria says I'm slamming her and TY Bello. Spare me the rhetoric.

My answers to your question about Olajumoke. I heard about her on the radio when I was hospitalized. Yes she is beautiful. Anyone can transform but she's already being exploited and to prevent that, her husband has to be sharp eyed. She is a mother of two small kids I hear. Your average model has no kids and are single young ladies. I commend the people who discovered her and all the endorsement deals tied to her including Stanbic and others. It may overwhelm here. One thing they have to realize is that she is an ILLITERATE. She cannot read or write in English and it's not her native tongue but she is working in an industry where english will be the language her Publicists and Managers are going to use to seal deals for her. I urge them to get her ESL classes ASAP (English as a Second Language) SO THIS DREAM DOESN'T BECOME A NIGHTMARE! Her husband has already stated that if she becomes rich, they both own it. I hope their marriage stays strong and she gets max time with her kids. I cannot imagine being a supermodel traveling on assignments have time for even family. I see her dropping her management in 2 years just like Wizkid did EME. These things happen. Good Luck to this lovely girl. #NeverStopMovingForward

New Edition singer Bobby Brown and his 2nd wife Alicia Etheredge are expecting their 3rd baby together.
The couple welcomed their 2nd baby, a daughter named Bodhi Jameson Rein Brown, in July. Their firstborn son, Cassius, will be 7 in May.
A source confirmed the pregnancy to the NY Daily News.
Brown, 47, and Etheredge, who doubles as his manager, were married in 2012. Brown’s first wife, singer Whitney Houston, died in a tragic bathtub accident in February 2012.
Their daughter, 22-year old Bobbi Kristina Brown, died seven months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in Roswell, Georgia last year. Bobby looks pregnant himself.

The 7th victim of Michigan UBER Driver shooting rampage wakes up as organs were to be removed! #HNNCrime
The teenager’s body was limp amid the tangle of wires and tubes that were keeping her internal organs alive until they could be harvested.
The 14-year-old girl wouldn’t need them. A bullet allegedly fired by Uber driver Jason Brian Dalton during his bloody rampage across Kalazmazoo, Mich., Saturday night had struck her as she sat in a car in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel.
She was the seventh person to die in the attack, police said around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. Headlines were updated to reflect the new death toll; shoulders sank even lower at the loss of one more life. At Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, the girl’s body was being prepared for the surgery that would remove her organs, Michigan Live reported. The girl’s mother stood at her daughter’s side for what seemed like the last time.
Then she felt her daughter squeeze her hand.
“The only word to describe it is, ‘wow,'” Michigan State Police First Lt. Dale Hinz told Michigan Live. The young victim, who has not been named, went into surgery Sunday morning and is still in critical condition, officials said.
After meeting with the girl’s parents on Sunday, Michigan Republican Gov. Rick Snyder said the teenager is “working hard to stay alive.”
“She’s got all our thoughts and prayers to have a chance to come back,” he told reporters. “So it’s going to be quite a recovery period.”
According to local reports, the girl had stopped at Cracker Barrel with a group of family friends after seeing a show at Western Michigan University’s Miller Auditorium. All four of the women she was with — Mary Lou Nye, 63, of Baroda, Mich., and Mary Jo Nye, 60; Dorothy Brown, 74, and Barbara Hawthorne, 68, all of Battle Creek — were killed when Dalton allegedly fired on their cars.

A video purportedly showing Nigerian security forces attacking pro-Biafran protesters during a demonstration in Abia state is circulating on social media. Activists claimed the video shows members of the police and army surrounding pro-Biafran protesters during a 9 February protest inAba city in which at least 10 demonstrators were allegedly killed.
The footage shows Nigerian soldiers firing teargas at protesters while some demonstrators are beaten with pro-Biafran flags used during the march by men believed to be part of the police . It is not clear from the footage whether security forces also fired live bullets. However, some protesters are seen lying on the floor while others show injuries believed to have been caused by bullets.
Clifford Iroanya, global coordinator of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) group, told IBTimesUK the video allegedly shows "the undeniable massacre of defenceless Biafrans at Aba by President Muhammadu Buhari's murderous agents".
IBTimes UK has contacted the Nigerian army, police and the spokesperson for PresidentMuhammadu Buhari for a comment on the video, but has not received a response at the time of publishing. Amnesty International was also not immediately available for a comment.

Former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Moro was on Monday taken in for questioning, alongside a former Permanent Secretary and a director over N650 million immigration recruitment scandal.
In March 2014, over 6 million applied for 5,000 immigration jobs, following the nationwide advertisement by the Interior Ministry.
A shoddy process coupled with poor logistics led to concurrent stampedes during the simultaneous tests- leading to the death of several job seekers in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Minna.
Abba Moro and the two other suspects were re-invited by the EFCC ahead of their arraignment in court on Tuesday.

About 450 children died of malnutrition in 28 Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in Borno state in 2015, an official has said.
The Executive Director of the Board of the Borno Emergency Management Agency, Sule Mele, disclosed this on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri.
Mr. Mele said the victims were aged between one and five years.
He said more than 209,577 children were screened for various illnesses, including malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and vomiting.
According to him, about 6,444 severe cases of malnutrition were recorded in the camps, 25,511 have mild to moderate symptoms, while 177,622 among them were not malnourished.

PLS do not make up stories about me ATTACKED by Biafran haters!! Anyone that continues this will lose my support as I hate fraud. I clearly posted my head injury pics Jan 7th and told fans I will be hospitalized for over a month. Whoever Hope for Biafra is then posted a false story stating that "on the night of Jan 15th I was attacked by unknown persons". That is simply NOT TRUE! This blog owes me apologies and a retracted story. I was simply trying to end a fight when flying glass hit me and another man who got 16 stitches. Ask questions and don't make it up. My voice as an activist is loud and IPOB has never reached out to me or MASSOB.
Some Biafrans on Twitter even say I'm looking for fame while The Punch Newspapers said Jan that I MAY be the biggest voice IPOB HAS. Nigeria's Senator David Mark reclinches his Senate seat back after run off #HNNPolitics
A former Senate President, David Mark, says he is confident his constituents will vote him back to the Senate for the fifth time.
Mr. Mark is the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Saturday’s rerun senatorial election for Benue South.
He was declared winner of the earlier March 28, 2015, election, but his “victory” was annulled by the Court of Appeal.
Speaking Saturday after casting his vote at Otukpo Town East ward, Mr. Mark said, “Our people have resolved to return me back. They have decided that no external forces can come in between us in Zone C (Benue South)”.
“We call on our supporters to maintain law and order while the election lasts,” he added.
Mr. Mark arrived the polling unit in the company of his friend and former Senator, Tunde Ogbeha, younger brother, Igoche Mark, and other supporters.
When PREMIUM TIMES visited his polling unit at 12.33pm, voters’ apathy was obvious.
The presiding officer, a male corps member, said of the 1275 voters registered in the polling unit, but only about 120 people came out to vote.

Presidential dynasty campaigner Jeb Bush announced that he is suspending his presidential campaign following a disappointing finish in the South Carolina primary.
"The people of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken, and I really respect their decision," Bush said in South Carolina tonight. "So I am suspending my campaign."
And with those few words, an entire era of American political history was over. Bush launched his presidential bid last June in a quest to become the third member of his family in the White House. But throughout his campaign he faced questions about how he was different from the two other presidents named Bush -- his father and brother.
Former President George W. Bush made his first public campaign appearance for Bush in South Carolina on Monday. Tonight he thanked his brother, his father ("the greatest man alive"), his mother who campaigned for him and his wife ("the love of my life").
He also invoked his unwavering focus on policy and character.
"I have stood my ground, refusing to bend to the political winds," Bush said. "We put forward detailed, innovative, conservative plans to address the mounting challenges that we face, because despite what you might have heard, ideas matter, policy matters."
And Bush, who in the waning weeks of his campaign sparred relentlessly with GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, reiterated his belief that the presidency is for the humble.
