ADAM LAMBERT ALLEGEDLY BEATS UP PHOTOG!

Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert is accused of simple battery on a photographer on Miami Beach.

A police report says 38-year-old Victor Eras was taking pictures of the singer Thursday when Lambert started running toward him "in an aggressive manner." Eras claims Lambert grabbed his back pack and wrestled him to the ground. The photographer did not suffer any injuries. He declined

to comment to The Associated Press on Friday.

No arrests were made. A police spokesman says there will not be an investigation. The state attorney's office will review the report and decide if any charges will be filed. TMZ first reported the alleged attack.

Lambert's publicist did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

AFRICAN MUSIC BEEF: WHY IS GHANA ANGRY WITH BET OVER THE INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY PRESENTATION?

Peace FM in Ghana says they were all excited when P-Square, Kojo Antwi and M.I got nominated for the BET 2010 International Act of the Year award, but it is almost embarrassing for the music industry outside of the U.S. that BET did not present the award during the event.

The African music industry is huge, generating millions of dollars annually, but yet at an awards show dedicated to black music, any artist based on the continent is lumped into one category of International Artist.

It is almost disrespectfully to have only one category that Sade, Dizzee Rascal, P-Square, Estelle, K’naan, Kojo Antwi and M-I can be recognized for. As successful, important and meaningful that each of these nominees are, why shouldn’t they be nominated for Best Hip-Hop Artist, Best R’n’B Artist, Best Album of the year, (for example), along side the likes of Drake, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, Trey Songz?

Are they not respected as artists of their own particular genres rather than simply international artists? It is time that African artists, (in particular), start to earn the respect that they deserve on the world stage. Would Jay-Z be nominated for Best International Artist at the MTV Base Africa awards?

UK based rapper, song writer and record producer Dizzee Rascal, who is of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent, won the accolade of Best International Act of the Year. Our congratulations go out to Dizzee who is popular, and respected by many US rappers.

The African music industry is obviously still developing but we hope to be respected at all major global award ceremonies in the near future, as we know it is well deserved. But in the mean time, top African artists also need to support their own award ceremonies.

Former Sony Music boss TOMMY MOTTOLA threatened to pull artists out of the Live Aid line-up if HALL & OATES weren't part of the U.S. telecast. The music mogul had a furious TransAtlantic row with promoter Harvey Goldsmith on the eve of the historic charity concert in 1985 after realisin g his charttopping duo would not be part of the segment of Live Aid televised in the U.S. But, by then, Goldsmith and organisers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure were so convinced they had the greatest line-up ever on two stages in London and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, they called Mottola's bluff.

Goldsmith recalls, "We had a huge row with Tommy Mottola, who threatened to pull Mick Jagger and this one and that one and the other one because he came to realise that Hall & Oates weren't going to be on the American TV special. "Bob and I just put the phone down and said, 'Thanks very much. See you later and if you want to pull them, pull them.'" The legendary promoter admits he knew the show, which celebrates its 25th anniversary today (13Jul10), would be a big fundraiser, but he had no idea how big.

He tells CelebrityAccess.com, "Bob and I said to each other, 'I think w e are going to raise about five million (pounds),' which we were very proud of at that point. Little did we know we were going to raise 140 million (pounds)."

SFTC: WHO THE HELL REALLY OWNS DRAKE'S BEST I EVER HAD BEAT?

Hip-hop star Drake has become embroiled in a lawsuit over his song Best I Ever Had - two producers are squabbling over royalty payments from the track.

New York-based DJ Absolut, real name Shaune Muir, has filed suit claiming he is owed royalties because a beat he created was allegedly used in the 2009 hit without his permission.

Muir alleges he handed his composition to Kia Shine in 2008 after the rapper/producer agreed to give him 20 per cent of any royalty payments made from the beat's use, but he had no idea the music had allegedly been used in Drake's song until he heard it on the radio.

The legal papers, obtained by the New York Daily News, claim Shine has earned $1 million from Best I Ever Had after secretly agreeing a deal to receive a 25 per cent stake of the track's copyright.

Muir's legal representatives filed a breach of contract lawsuit at Queens Supreme Court last week after reportedly failing to get in contact with Shine, real name Nakia Coleman.

Muir's lawyer, Brian Levy, says, "Kia Shine needs to uphold his end of the agreement. It wasn't my client's desire to resort to legal action to get him to do it. We've reached out to him, but he has not chosen to respond." Drake has previously publicly denied Shine had anything to do with Best I Ever Had.

Amazing how these things happen a week before an album drops! SMH.

RAPPER PITBULL CANCELS CONCERT DUE TO IMMIGRATION PROTEST.

Rapper Pitbull has shown his disgust at Arizona's controversial new immigration law by cancelling an upcoming concert in the state. The Cuban American star, real name Armando Perez, has joined a host of celebrities who have protested the new bill, which requires police to determine if people are in the country illegally and calls for state residents to carry identification papers with them at all times. And Pitbull has chosen to show his solidarity to U.S. immigrants by scrapping his Phoenix show altogether.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "I am cancelling my concert in Phoenix on May 31... How is the country we enjoy and love bcuz (because) of its human rights, freedom, opportunity and that has been built by immigrants, now start 2 (sic) deny them?? ...It is contradicting 2 everything the USA stands 4 (sic)." Fellow hip-hop stars Cypress Hill have also pulled out of planned gigs in Arizona as a result of the immigration law.

The Phoenix show isn't the only Pitbull concert that is in the headlines - Muslim protesters in Malaysia took to the streets of the capital Kuala Lumpur on Friday (14May10) to campaign against his scheduled appearance at a dance music festival in the notoriously conservative country on Saturday (15May10). Critics cited his style of performance and lyrical content as causes for concern.

Former American Idol contestant Stephanie Edwards was arrested on Monday in Savannah, Ga., after allegedly getting into a girl fight.

According to authorities, the season 6 Idol finalist (she came in 11th in 2007) was taken into custody after Edwards had a physical altercation with Laquilla White in the middle of a street.

Edwards, 22, told officers that she had been constantly harassed by White, and finally went to the woman's home, where the confrontation turned physical. Each suffered minor injuries, but declined to go to the hospital.

Both women were arrested on a misdemeanor charge of fighting in public and booked at Chatham County Detention Center. They were released on $1300 bail.

DAMON DASH TELLS MAGAZINE THAT KANYE AND JAY-Z HAD A FEUD OVER BLING!!!

A representative for KANYE WEST has blasted DAMON DASH's allegations the STRONGER rapper sparked a feud with JAY-Z after the BIG PIMPIN' hitmaker refused to lend him a diamond chain. Dash maintains the hip-hop stars' alleged rivalry began at a 2003 concert in Chicago, Illinois, where the then-up-and-coming West - who had been signed to Dash and Jay-Z's label Roc-A-Fella Records - reportedly demanded the rap icon "knight" him with a chain.

But according to Dash, Jay-Z's former business partner, the star refused to lend him the jewellery - and West has "hated" his boss and labelmate ever since. Dash tells the December (08) issue of U.S. magazine Complex,

"This n**ger (West) was like, 'Wow, (Jay-Z) ain't going to give me this chain. I had to take off my chain and give it to him, and I was heated. I had the real canary diamonds. That s**t cost $40,000. I told Kanye, 'Yo, you got to give that back when we get off this stage!'"

However, a spokesperson for West, who continues to work closely with Jay-Z, has dismissed Dash's claims, telling the New York Daily News the report is "ridiculous and totally false".
Dash and Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, founded Roc-A-Fella Records with pal Kareem 'Biggs' Burke in 1996, but the trio parted ways in late 2004, with Jay-Z retaining the label name under his deal with Def Jam Records.
