Rapper Lil Wayne accused of copyright infringement for sampling!

Lawyers for rapper Lil Wayne are seeking more time to turn over documents in response to a lawsuit that accuses the award-winning recording artist of copyright infringement.

A federal lawsuit filed in May claims Lil Wayne didn't have permission to sample a song by singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel. The suit says Lil Wayne's record label, Cash Money Records, tried but failed to negotiate a licence to use Swanepoel's song "Once" before millions of people downloaded the rapper's song "I Feel Like Dying."

A court filing Tuesday by Lil Wayne's attorneys asks a judge in New Orleans to extend a Friday deadline for turning over documents requested by lawyers for the company that published Swanepoel's song.

CHRISTIAN MILIAN SUES OVER DIP IT LOW CONTROVERSY.

Pop star CHRISTINA MILIAN is suing the producer behind her 2003 hit DIP IT LOW, claiming he lied about a sample he used for the track. Milian alleges Poli Paul, who wrote the smash, assured her "there were no samples whatsoever" in Dip It Low, but the singer has since spent a fortune in legal costs, defending herself in a plagiarism lawsuit. Thomas Turino, Larry Crook and Dan Dickey sued Milian, claiming a portion of her song was illegally lifted from their 1983 track La Sirena.

In legal documents filed in Los Angeles on Thursday (07Aug08) and obtained by TMZ.com - Milian claims Poli Paul looped a 12-second sample of La Sirena into Dip It Low after hearing the track in a record store. Her lawyer, Ed McPherson, wants Paul and his associate, Spencer Cowlings Entertainment, to pay the $300,000 Milian has already spent defending herself in the case, and punitive damages.

MARY J. BLIGE SUED IN SONG ROW!

R&B star MARY J. BLIGE has been accused of stealing songs from a California hip-hop label in a new lawsuit filed on Wednesday (06Aug08). Drama Family Entertainment bosses claim Blige's hit single Work That was taken from their catalogue of songs. It is alleged they hired producer Theron Feemster to record hits for their own artists - but instead he gave tracks to Blige.

The production company and record label executives claim Feemster's song Pull 1 Rough, created during his time with Drama Family, very closely resembles Blige's single from her 2007 album Growing Pains - featured in an Apple iPod commercial. The company's lawyer Brian Caplan adds, "The music is identical." The singer's bosses at Interscope Geffen - which has also been named in the suit - have refused to comment, insisting they never discuss pending litigation.Lawyers for Blige and Feemster did not return calls for comment.

SUED: Pharrell's 'Frontin' Wrote and Composed By Peter and David Currin, But Never Accredited!

Peter and David Currin were completely shocked when they heard the song 'Frontin' on the radio in the late part of 2004, because it was a song they had penned in 1993. Through a third party access connected with P. Diddy, Pharrell obtained the song and made a direct cover in 2003. The song was released to international crowds.and became an instant hit.

Peter and David have since filed suit (U.S. District Court of Connecticut # 3:07CV01069 RNC) against Pharrell Williams and The Neptunes and are awaiting decisions. The case is not only in the CT court, it is also at the justice department in Washington, D.C. Peter and David are hoping for an amicable resolution and of course accreditation for their original song.

Rapper Flo Rida Accused Of Song Jacking "Don't Know How To Act"

Florida rapper Flo Rida who's been making digital waves has been accused of song jacking according to a letter from one of the representatives for the Memphis based rap music group Stockholdaz. The song in question is the newly released song by Flo Rida "Don't Know How To Act" featuring Yung Joc which is called "Don't Know How 2 Act" by the Stockholdaz which was originally released in late 2006 produced by Memphis bred, now Atlanta based, producer Drumma Boy.
