I called Canada's Queen of R&B Deborah Cox while she was pregnant back in Miami on November 26th 2009 and we discussed everything from the new album "The Promise" to the upcoming baby girl which she delivered in February and the new venture with she and husband having their own record label now. Her music is # 1 requested material in Nigeria right now for break up, weddings and more. I did this interview for Radio Nigeria and also HipHossip too. She has been nominated for Best R&B recording for this Sunday's Juno awards in Vancouver. The Junos are Canada's GRAMMY awards!!! Good luck on the Junos. I thing she'll be the WINNER on Sunday.

ALL CANADIAN: NEW MUSIC BY ANJULIE--BOOM EP.

Born to immigrant parents from Guyana and raised in Toronto, the now Los Angeles-based 26 year old Anjulie is an intriguing, authentic new voice on the pop landscape. With melodic gifts, vocal prowess and sophistication, she announces herself as a true original on her debut Boom EP and forthcoming self-titled album for Hear Music.

Co-written with her producer and collaborator Jon Levine (of Canadian R&B hit makers the Philosopher Kings), Anjulie sets intensely personal stories about her life, loves, obsessions and heartbreaks to a glittering genre-blending mix of pop, hip-hop, rock and world rhythms she heard growing up.

The slinky opening track, "Boom," works a dark, Nancy Sinatra-esque '60s vibe, while the sweet pop sophistication of "Love Songs" and "Day Will Soon Come" exhibit her personal and musical confessions come to life. Much like her contemporaries Nelly Furtado, Corinne Bailey Rae and Lily Allen, Anjulie is ready to carve out her own essential place in popular music with this versatile, confident, eclectic introduction.

ALL CANADIAN: OUR GIRL CELINE DION IS ILL! SEVERAL CONCERTS CANCELLED!

CELINE DION has been forced to postpone a string of shows on the North American leg of her world tour due to a persistent respiratory virus. The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker pulled out of performances in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois and Indianapolis, Indiana earlier this month (Nov08). And now she has been ordered by doctors to scrap further concerts in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Kansas City and St Louis, Missouri; Salt Lake City, Utah; San Jose, California; Omaha, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado.

Dion is recuperating from a recurrent infection that has been further complicated by inflamed vocal cords, according to a statement released by concert promoter AEG Live. The firm adds: "Her physician has instructed her to refrain from singing in order to completely recover." The singer, who is currently on her Taking Chances world tour, has already rescheduled the dates for December (08), January and February (09).

ALL CANADIAN: Deborah Cox Shows Off Her Baby Bump in New Video.

Multi-platinum recording artist Deborah Cox shows off her pregnant belly in her new video for "Beautiful U R" , the massive hit on Canadian radio already, after only a few weeks. BEAUTIFUL U.R. is #15 Billboard Hot 100 Chart , #4 Most Played in Ontario , #25 Hot Digital Songs Chart, #4 Hot AC, #7 CHR, and jumped from #122 to #28 this week on the Main AC Chart. This is a SMASH!

Cox, 37, is nearly seven months pregnant in the video for the tune, which is about "empowerment and love," says Eric Alper, Cox's spokesman. Cox and husband Lascelles Stephens, 44, are expecting their third child in February. Preceding that, Cox's fourth album, The Promise, was released on Nov. 11.

The Grammy winner says on her Web site, "This is a great season in my life," and tells fans of her eclectic R&B and Broadway style that they can catch her on tour this spring.

The Toronto native, who cut her first record in 1995, adds, "I could not be more blessed and I cannot wait to see everyone when I'm promoting the album this fall and out on tour."

Cox, who starred in the blockbuster Broadway musical Aida in 2004, has also partnered with Broadway In South Africa, a non-profit. "It is a really great charity organization which mentors and teaches children in orphanages and townships in South Africa," she says. "You can check out the Web site and donate whatever you can to this great organization."

BUBLE 'CURLS UP AND CRIES' OVER BLUNT SPLIT.

Canadian singer MICHAEL BUBLE is still pining for his actress ex EMILY BLUNT two months after they split. The Home hitmaker parted ways with the Devil Wears Prada star in July (08) after three years together, citing their hectic work schedules for the break-up. Buble admits the love split hit him hard and he is still struggling to nurse his broken heart. He tells Entertainment Tonight Canada, "I'll go home and I'll curl up in a ball and I'll cry. I'm not kidding. I'll just cry."

The couple parted on good terms, and Buble insists he has only praise for the actress: "Emily was a substantial person and amazing still. Top girl. Top class. "In my business it's tough to go out with another artist because you're never together. You're lucky if you can see the person once every two to three months, and with Em, she was on her movies and I was doing my thing so it made it more difficult."

But Buble is now looking to the future and has a strong idea of the qualities he looks for in a potential partner. He adds, "I don't want a pushover. I want a strong human being that doesn't put up with my BS (bulls**t). It turns me on actually."

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: CANADIAN ARTIST EMPIRE ISIS

Empire Isis is a dynamic artist I met at the Toronto Independent Music awards. Before that, I checked out this Canadian talented beauty out on the net then I was in touch with Jon Asher, the music Publicist and we planned to do an interview at the TIMA awards. Meeting her was such a pleasure as you will see in that interview video. She's just filled with tons of humility.

Although she and her gorgeous brother/Manager Awane are half Morrocans, She is Canada's fastest growing Urban Star and has been recognized as a true Indie success story in a time of musical turmoil and downsizing. Her album "Sounds of Trumpets" dropped digitally last month. You can listen to snippets at her MySpace page.

She had just come back from Morroco the day before after a big gig. Check out the 100,000 crowd! Half British half Moroccan but raised by a Ugandan stepfather who adopted her - Empire ISIS, grew up in different places such as: Canada, the UK and Morocco. At the age 16, ISIS set off for South and Central America. However, it was only until she went to the rolling hills of Jamaica that she truly found herself. Her music speaks for itself and Isis says, “I want to inspire people to follow their dreams, to do what they’re here on earth for”.

What amazes me about her is her humility. At least this is what I see as she reminds me of DJ Toomp who has produced all these songs we know and nobody really knows him that well. Toomp always likes to be in the background. This is a lady whose music is used in TV shows and we don't know her face until now. Isis shocked me as they called her on stage as the WINNER of the Best Out of Province Artist and she WON'T come on stage as if she were shy or something but it was just being humble. That is what I saw. This woman fascinates me. Her voice even fascinates me more. You should hear it.

Touring internationally and being nominated 10 times for different awards (her latest win at the Underground Music Awards for Best International Artist in New York City), ISIS played in front of 15 thousand plus people at the 2008 irie Jamboree in New York City last August 2008 where she shared the stage with Reggae Icon’s Sizzla Kolonji, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Tarrus Riley & Cocoa Tea and many more.
