DEJA VU? KANYE WEST ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY SMASHING A PHOTOG'S FACE JUST HOURS AGO IN THE U.K.....BUT HE'S BEEN CLEARED!

Gillian Sheldon at TMZ just updated HipHossip in an e-mail that Kanye West will not be charged with assaulting a photographer -- in an alleged incident that went down just hours ago in the UK.

West was arrested at a hotel in Gateshead, England early this morning after allegedly getting into a tussle with a photog on his way out of the Tup Tup nightclub in Newcastle.

After a short investigation, West was released from police custody without charges.

FYI -- The person alleging the assault made the same claim against a famous British soccer player around a month ago -- but the charges unfounded in that case as well.

UPDATE: TMZ just spoke with the photog -- who claims Kanye did, in fact, smash his face in around 2AM London time.

According to the snapper, it all went down when Kanye was leaving the club with 4 girls, upset that he was being captured on film. After getting angry, Kanye allegedly got violent -- shoving the camera into the snappers face, causing a cut on his nose.

LANCE BASS PONDERS LAUNCHING GAY DANCE SHOW.

Former *N SYNC star LANCE BASS has hinted he'd love to launch his own version of hit U.S. show DANCING WITH THE STARS - featuring gay couples. The openly gay star will appear in the forthcoming season of the hit show, teaming up with professional dancer Lacey Schwimmer. And although Bass doesn't believe the current run would be the right platform for a same-sex couple to appear on, he'd love to see a similar program just for homosexuals. He tells E! Online,

"I think it would be so silly that it would just overshadow everything else going on. It would just be like making fun of something. But if it was another show with all guys dancing and all girls dancing, that's a different story. I think that's sexy. I should pitch that."

Meanwhile, BASS has been inspired to adopt a child in light of California's gay marriage ruling. The 29-year-old star is eager to settle down since state authorities lifted the ban on same-sex marriage in May (08). And he admits he dreams of meeting the right man to start a family. He says,

"I think everyone dreams of that nice romantic wedding. And I love kids. I want to adopt and I want to have my own."

British singers Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse may have had their differences in the past but they are now willing to put those behind them by working together on a new track. Doherty had been released from jail last week after serving just 29 days of his 14-week sentence for violating his probation, and he revealed that his band mate Mick Whitnall has been hard at work on collaboration with Winehouse.

"Mick and Amy have a great relationship. They have been working on material while I was in prison," Contactmusic quoted Doherty as saying. "When I came out I went straight to the recording studio. I just want to get music going," he said. Further Doherty believes that he can stay clean by immersing himself in music. "It's great news really because we've (Babyshambles) been told we will be doing a third album. That will keep me busy and hopefully out of trouble," he added.
