BERLIN —A German man who scanned the QR code on a bottle of Heinz ketchup said the code leads to a porn site.
Daniel Korell wrote to the Pittsburgh-based company on Facebook, saying he scanned the code on a bottle of Heinz Hot Ketchup expecting to be taken to a label design contest but was instead taken to a porn site.
According to foodproductiondaily.com, Heinz apologized to Korell, saying the company's ownership of the website expired after the contest ended in 2014.
He was also offered a free custom-designed bottle.
"Even if the bottle was a leftover, it's still in lots of households," Korell said in a comment to UPI.
Heinz told Korell it would accept "suggestions for the implementation of future campaigns."
