THE FACE OF EVIL SAYS DOLLA WAS A CRIP AND HE KILLED HIM OVER A GIRL AND SELF DEFENCE?

The man who killed Dolla, Aubrey Berry, is saying it was self-defense and that Dolls was a hardcore Crip that tried to kill him. Berry just got a degree from the renowned Clark Atlanta University, no criminal record and a perfect credit score. But he had to pull the damn trigger, he should have thought about the consequences....Duh?

The family of slain rap artist Dolla (real name: Roderick Anthony Burton) responded to claims by the accused killer’s lawyer that the shooting was done in self-defense, and that Dolla was a gang member. Aubrey Louis Berry allegedly shot and killed Dolla at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles on Monday. He was arrested later that day and charged Wednesday with two counts of assault with a firearm and one count of murder and is being held on $5 million bail; he has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail.

“There are three victims in this case, none of which is Aubrey Berry,” the Burton family’s spokesperson, Dennis Byron, said Friday (May 22) in a statement, adding to MTV News that the family was upset by the claim. “His claim of self-defense is very colorful but the fact is that he traveled from Atlanta with a loaded firearm — for which he didn’t possess a carry permit for in the state of California — and then he assassinates Mr. Burton and attempts to shoot his cousin Will and his friend DJ Shabazz. Dolla was doing what he normally does, and that is to come to town and record in the studio and visit his family. He has been a recording artist for many years and being a member of any gang is as far-fetched as Mr. Berry’s claim of self-defense. Mr. Price is attempting to argue his client’s case in the media but the courtroom is where this matter will be dealt with.”

On Thursday, Berry lawyer, Howard K. Price, told MTV News that his client had been victimized and threatened by Dolla over a previous incident at an Atlanta nightclub.

“If somebody has a reasonable perception that he is in danger of bodily injury or death, he has a right to defend himself,” Price said. “He felt his life was in danger because of the previous altercation and what this guy [Burton] is reputed to be, which is [a member of] the Crips [street gang] and the way he conducted himself … and the way his crew approached him when they left the restaurant and followed him to the parking lot.”

WTF? KID ROCK BREAKS NYC SMOKING LAWS AND GIVES TRL A SMOKING SEND-OFF!

KID ROCK broke New York's strict smoking ban while bidding farewell to MTV music show TRL on Sunday night (16Nov08) - by striding into the Times Square studio smoking a cigar. Rock was one of a host of music's biggest stars who turned out for the final show - hosted by Carson Daly and Damien Fahey.

And he was determined to steal the show, by drinking beer and puffing on a cigar. Rock said, "I used to come here and they would say, 'Hey, man, you've got to put the cigar out'. Well, guess what? It's over; I ain't putting the cigar out."

OMG! RAPPER BUMP J HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR ROBBING A CHICAGO BANK OF $100,000 !!

Rapper BUMP J. has been arrested for allegedly stealing $100,000 from a Chicago bank in 2007. The rapper, real name Terrance Boykin, was detained by federal officials in Carbondale, Illinois and taken into custody following a routine traffic stop earlier this week. If you don't know Bump J, he is called the "Chief of Chicago." This cat is so talented that he got greedy and stupid!

He is accused of robbing a Chase Bank branch at gunpoint in January 2007 with a male accomplice. Boykin and the unnamed pal are alleged to have entered the financial institution and announced the robbery before taking more than $100,000.

No one was injured in the heist, which was captured on surveillance cameras. Boykin is indicted on one count of bank robbery and of violation of federal firearms statues. He is being held without bond at the Carbondale Police Department, awaiting extradition to Chicago. The other man who allegedly participated in the robbery remains at large

BREAKING NEWS: RAPPER DA BRAT SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON!!!

There goes my girl! It's tough in Georgia. Rapper DA BRAT has been sentenced to three years in prison for striking a waitress with a rum bottle at a nightclub last year (07). A Superior Court Judge ruled on Friday (22Aug08) the hip-hop hitmaker - real name Shawntae Harris - will also serve seven years probation and 200 hours of community service for the incident in addition to her jail time. Harris, 34, was involved in the altercation at a Halloween party at Studio 72 nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia, on 31 October 2007.

The pair were reported by police to have gotten into an altercation prior to the assault - resulting in the victim's hospitalisation and permanent facial scarring. Harris entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault in the case. According to reports, the rapper pleaded to her weeping family as she was led out of the courtroom, saying: "I love y'all." Harris was previously convicted in 2000 for misdemeanor reckless conduct. We hear she will only serve 12 months out of it.

I know both the victim and Shawntae well. The victim was an Atlanta Falcon cheerleader and her face was really messed up. We all have a lesson to learn about this. All our female rappers are sending bad messages to our girls!!! Ladies! Ladies, can you all be like Queen Latifah and be a role model?

YOUNG JEEZY ARRESTED IN ATL FOR DUI ???

I am hearing that police arrested my boy Young Jeezy around 2:30 AM this morning for DUI, speeding, reckless driving, no tags, driving with an open container and no proof of insurance. He was released this morning on bail. He'll be back in court on July 17. Slow down...............
UPDATE: The drinks were the passengers and the tags fell off after they left a carwash and I created HIPHOSSIP! Truedat baby! I discovered this kid when he was hawking the demos and white t-shirts out of the car.

Snoop Dogg Wife DUI Arrest: Shante Broadus Arrested for DUI!

Here’s a mugshot from reality TV star Shante Broadus' (Snoop Dogg's wifey) weekend arrest for DUI. Fullerton Police Lt. Craig Brower says officers stopped Snoop’s wife, thirty-two, driving under the influence at approximately 12:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Shante was arrested, cited, and given a date to appear in court.

I know I have been busy all last weekend at the MMVA'S but Shante from this to that up there???

NO CANADA FOR HIM: Rapper Numskull charged with 12 Felonies!

BREAKING NEWS: TMZ is reporting that Rapper Numskull is living up to every bit of his name. Garrick Demond Husbands who is known as Numskull, and is one half of the of the rap group the Luniz, has been charged with twelve felony counts. According to Alameda County Superior Court documents, Garrick was charged with twelve counts of felony assault, that include shocking charges of sodomy, corporal injury and possession of a firearm. Currently details on how this situation unfolded are slim, and so far no one in Numskull's camp is talking.

What we do know, is that things definitely don't look like they are going to get any better for the one time multi-platinum artist, whose group became famous with the hit, "I Got 5 on It." He may still have a chance to have five on it ... in prison! Here are the court documents!

MUST BE NICE: Ne-YO ordered to perform a concert as community service?

R&B star Ne-Yo plead guilty to driving without a license and no contest to a reckless driving charge yesterday in Georgia. The Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter was sentenced to 24 hours of community service and ordered to perform a concert for the local Boys & Girls Club.

Ne-Yo was also fined $1,000 and will be required to take a defensive driving class. Ne-Yo was taken to jail on February 19th after he was pulled over in a 55 mph zone after being clocked at 105 mph in his 06′ Range Rover. He is on tour here tonight with Alicia Keys in Vancouver and they head to Toronto on Thursday. Tune in to him on the JJ and Melanie show Thursday morning the 5th of June 2008. Atlanta’s Rapper T.I.’s community service becomes MTV series.

Rodney Ho of the AJC reports: BET a couple of years ago filmed a popular series focused on rapper Lil Kim before she went to prison for perjury and conspiracy with the classy title “Countdown to Lockdown.”

Now MTV is doing a similar “Countdown to Lockdown” with Atlanta’s T.I., according to Variety magazine. Currently, the rap star is doing 1,000 hours of community service before he enters prison next year for possessing firearms as a convicted felon and possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers.

MTV, which has already gotten footage of T.I. leaving house arrest earlier this year, plans to film some of his community service this summer and the release of his next album this fall. The network expects to air the show next year.

“Hopefully the mistakes I’ve made will be a lesson to today’s youth and they won’t go down that same path,” T.I. told Variety.

ONLY IN AMERICA: British born Rapper Slick Rick won't be deported!

New York Gov. David Paterson has granted British-born rapper "Slick Rick" a full and unconditional pardon for attempted murder and weapons convictions to help him avoid deportation. The rapper, whose real name is Ricky Walters, served six years of a possible 10-year sentence after pleading guilty in 1991 to two counts of attempted murder and eight weapons offenses for shooting his cousin and an innocent bystander. It helps too when the "Governator" is BLACK! Don't ever let me hear you shooting all over the place Rick!

SHE WAS A RAPE VICTIM: Juror quits R.Kelly trial after one day!

A rape victim assigned to the jury in R. KELLY's child pornography trial has quit after just one day of work after learning her boss wouldn't pay her for the time she spent in court. Juror 68 asked to be excused shortly after opening statements were made in the case in Chicago, Illinois. She told the court and her fellow jurors that judging Kelly would leave her homeless - because a loss of earnings would cause her to fall short on mortgage payments.The unnamed woman, who told Judge Vincent Gaughan she would be able to put her own sexual experience behind her and offer fair judgment in the Kelly trial last week (ends16May08), has been replaced. Nah!!! I think she quit because she couldn't bear it anymore after seeing that darn video!

DONT I KNOW: Whitney's clean! Charges dropped in Hawaii!

In this picture, mmmm.....not sure. That was when she invited me to the set of their Bravo reality show in Atlanta in 2004. Today, Misdemeanour drug possession charges against WHITNEY HOUSTON have been dropped by a Hawaiian judge, following a substance abuse assessment of the star. Houston, 44, was suspected of possessing marijuana while travelling through a Hawaiian airport in 2000 with ex-husband Bobby Brown.

The pop superstar allegedly disposed of less than half an ounce (28 grams) of the drug and three partially smoked marijuana cigarettes, before boarding a United Airlines flight from Keahole-Kona airport to San Francisco, California. The assessment, submitted in February 2008 by a New Jersey substance abuse counselor, stated Houston does not require treatment for substance abuse. She is now cleared of all charges.

Rumours of drug abuse have surrounded the star since her marriage to R&B singer Brown, and she spent time in rehabilitation facilities in 2004 and 2005. Houston's record label bosses maintain she has been clean of all illegal substances since her most recent stint three years ago.

Uncle Murda Arrested At LAX Airport For Fake ID!!

Does Uncle Murda ever learn? It's like talking to a wall when I advise this rapper! According to a report from TMZ.com, the rapper (real name: Leonard Grant) was pulled aside by airport security for having a suspicious looking ID. Police then showed up, took Murda into custody, cited him and he was released. He is set to appear in court June 4. Law enforcement told TMZ that the rapper spent $500 for the fake ID.

DMX denies drug charges!

LATEST: Rapper DMX has denied animal cruelty and drug possession charges. The star - real name Earl Simmons - was arrested and charged with seven misdemeanour counts of cruelty at his Arizona home on 9 May (08). Police took five pit bull puppies into care, and discovered a cache of weapons and drugs - which resulted in further charges.

On Thursday (15May08), Simmons was due before Maricopa County Superior Court, but turned up one hour late. He pleaded innocent to the charges and was arraigned to appear on 2 July (08). In 2005, Simmons was sentenced to ten extra days in prison because he was almost two hours late to court, after being sentenced to 70 days in jail for violating the terms of his probation.

FAST AND FURIOUS: DMX caught speeding on highway with this vintage car?

Let's face it, DMX is one of our close pals on this blog. Maybe even like family! WE LIKE DMX! So what is this story about him speeding? We all do speed every now and then but I have my reservations about this story when I saw it last night. Our Fox affiliate in DC sent us these pictures coming from the sister station in Arizona that Rapper DMX was arrested at his Cave Creek home by DPS officers on Tuesday. Earl Simmons, aka DMX, is charged with racing on a highway, reckless driving, endangerment and driving on a suspended license. There is something already wrong with this story! "arrested at his home????" Now how many of us are arrested at our homes after speeding on the highway. WAS DMX targeted like the cops do every hip-hop artist?
