This is a story that is kinda shocking to me in the industry. I cannot get a word out of anyone and I have not been able to reach DY's Publicist Lisa Persaud either. Toronto Police is reporting the superstar rapper and singer DY MISSING! What do you mean missing? I have seen him a few times at MuchMusic nut never met him personally. I spoke to his Publicist about features in the past and KJ and I love his music. I sure hope TPS (Toronto Police Service) and Mexican authorities work together if in fact he went to Mexico.

This dude is HIGHLY talented and I will keep him in my prayers. With all the drama going on in Mexico these days, so many Canadians and Americans have been killed, missing and such. The standard of the cops over there is questionable as you can see entire police departments have been killed in the cartel war as well. Much Music's Re Hot blog reports that "DY was last seen middle of August at his video shoot says Matt Attfield, DMD Promotions national publicist, who also said that he is unsure who the last person was to see DY but that he was seen at the video shoot for “That’s My Spot” on August 8th about a week before he was scheduled to go to Mexico.

The last Tweet from his account was on September 8th when he said, “Happy birthday to my favourite voice on the radio @jjisjeni. All the best!” That was him wishing Flow 93.5FM Toronto personality Jeni McKenzie a Happy Birthday. This story is as bizarre as it could get. My calls to several industry people were mixed while some could not be reached. Some are speculating a "publicity stunt" but why and for what? It's almost 3 months and his family is very worried. DY as you know is on the same CP record label as Danny Fernandez and Belly among others. CP Records CEO Tony Sal speaks for all in them in his press release statement:

“DY is such a great young talent. All of the artists and staff at CP Records have him and his family in our prayers.”

THE FACE OF EVIL SAYS DOLLA WAS A CRIP AND HE KILLED HIM OVER A GIRL AND SELF DEFENCE?

The man who killed Dolla, Aubrey Berry, is saying it was self-defense and that Dolls was a hardcore Crip that tried to kill him. Berry just got a degree from the renowned Clark Atlanta University, no criminal record and a perfect credit score. But he had to pull the damn trigger, he should have thought about the consequences....Duh?

The family of slain rap artist Dolla (real name: Roderick Anthony Burton) responded to claims by the accused killer’s lawyer that the shooting was done in self-defense, and that Dolla was a gang member. Aubrey Louis Berry allegedly shot and killed Dolla at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles on Monday. He was arrested later that day and charged Wednesday with two counts of assault with a firearm and one count of murder and is being held on $5 million bail; he has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail.

“There are three victims in this case, none of which is Aubrey Berry,” the Burton family’s spokesperson, Dennis Byron, said Friday (May 22) in a statement, adding to MTV News that the family was upset by the claim. “His claim of self-defense is very colorful but the fact is that he traveled from Atlanta with a loaded firearm — for which he didn’t possess a carry permit for in the state of California — and then he assassinates Mr. Burton and attempts to shoot his cousin Will and his friend DJ Shabazz. Dolla was doing what he normally does, and that is to come to town and record in the studio and visit his family. He has been a recording artist for many years and being a member of any gang is as far-fetched as Mr. Berry’s claim of self-defense. Mr. Price is attempting to argue his client’s case in the media but the courtroom is where this matter will be dealt with.”

On Thursday, Berry lawyer, Howard K. Price, told MTV News that his client had been victimized and threatened by Dolla over a previous incident at an Atlanta nightclub.

“If somebody has a reasonable perception that he is in danger of bodily injury or death, he has a right to defend himself,” Price said. “He felt his life was in danger because of the previous altercation and what this guy [Burton] is reputed to be, which is [a member of] the Crips [street gang] and the way he conducted himself … and the way his crew approached him when they left the restaurant and followed him to the parking lot.”

3 cops injured in shootout at Luciano's home.

Police say three patrolmen were injured during a shootout with a fugitive holed up inside reggae singer Luciano's home.

A police statement says the hourlong standoff ended with the gunman, Andrew Senior, being killed at the Grammy-nominated singer's estate in the capital, Kingston.

Two of the officers were in critical condition after Wednesday's shooting.

Police say the Rastafarian singer, whose real name is Jepther McClymont, was questioned but has not been charged with harboring a fugitive. Senior was a suspect in several killings.

The 44-year-old Luciano is best known for the songs "Lord Give Me Strength" and "It's Me Again, Jah." His 2001 release, "A New Day," earned a Grammy nomination for best reggae album.

Yesterday, I attended the 25th anniversary launch of Toronto crimes toppers at Toronto Police headquarters. Crime Stoppers is a partnership of the public, police and media that provides the community with a proactive program for people to assist the police anonymously to solve crimes and, thereby, to contribute to an improved quality of life. Kedre Browne was the Student of the Year and he received an award for it. Kedre's blog is at bubblz001.blogspot.com One of my goals is to get young adults to get involved. There was a t-shirt design contest and the new shirt was modeled above by the teens.

BRITISH RAPPER DIZZEE RASCAL ARRESTED!!

British rapper DIZZEE RASCAL has been arrested after allegedly becoming embroiled in a road rage incident. The 24-year-old - real name Dylan Mills - was detained on Friday (12Dec08) afternoon in Kent, England, and held overnight after witnesses claimed to have seen him confront another driver armed with a baseball bat.

A police spokesman confirmed the incident: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He was arrested in Orpington (Kent, England) at 3.30pm by officers who were on a routine patrol. The man is in custody at a South London police station."

The 4th Annual Dirty Awards ended abruptly tonight when violence erupted at the Georgia International Congress Center near downtown Atlanta.

The 2008 Dirty Awards presented by Radio One’s HOT 107.9, started off without a hitch tonight as rap stars T.I., Ludacris, Rick Ross, Trina, Rocko and singer Monica, Diamond & Li’l Scrappy, Common, and others walked the red carpet.

My spies tell me T.I. and Shawty Lo showed a unified front backstage before the event. The two rappers even took pictures together.

But problems began during Shawty Lo’s performance when he asserted his ownership of the South. Next thing you know, a chair flew onstage and police rushed forward to restore order.

T.I. promoted non-violence and Peace during his performance. He ended his speech with, “AND YOU KNOW BANKHEAD RUNS THIS!” Just then, Shawty Lo’s crew rushed the stage and fists flew. Attendees jumped on top of tables to avoid small fights that broke out near the stage.

According to sources, the police pepper sprayed bloodied Grand Hustle rapper Alfa Mega in order to subdue him. The thick clouds of mace sent guests running to the exits.

Once again, another urban award fight. This year started with the Ozone awards in Houston when Jim Jones and another rapper got into it and someone's nose was bloodied on tape. Then came the Urban Music awards in London, England last week and now the annual Dirty Awards in Atlanta saluting the "Dirty South" which has now lived to it's name.

BREAKING NEWS: BLOODSHED AT THE URBAN MUSIC AWARDS IN THE U.K! EVEN UNHARMED GUESTS WERE COVERED IN BLOOD, OUTFITS MESSED UP!

Is this the shyt that happens in our stereotyped urban world of music? The first thing I thought about was my sister blogger Sumit's safety at the HipHop Chronicle who was due to cover the whole thing. The AFP is reporting that three people were injured in ugly scenes at a British music awards ceremony, with one person seriously hurt, police said Sunday.

Two others sustained minor injuries at the sixth annual Urban Music Awards at the O2 entertainment complex in southeast London on Saturday night. One person has been arrested.

"We were called at 2211 GMT on the 15th to a disturbance at the O2 Arena site," a spokesman for London's Metropolitan Police told AFP.

"We found three men suffering injuries. Two are not serious injuries, the other one is. They appeared to be stab or slash victims. There has been one arrest."

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said the three casualties had been treated at the scene and taken to hospitals.

Police sources indicated that the most serious casualty may have been stabbed and the other two might have been hit by flying glass.

The show was being held in the indigO2, a 2,350-capacity venue inside the O2 former Millennium Dome landmark.

Leona Lewis, Dizzee Rascal, Duffy and Estelle were among the performers nominated for awards.

Soul singer Mica Paris was to be presented with a lifetime achievement award.

Andre Nevling, 24, said a woman sat at the same table as himself was "covered" in blood.

"Obviously the guy who got stabbed must have run straight past her and she's pretty shaken up," he said.

"I saw blood all over the floor and then I was like, 'Jesus you're covered in it'," he said.

Another eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I didn't see what happened but there were champagne bottles flying and I hid under the table."

Natalie Williams, 32, said: "It's a huge shame that a small group of people have ruined everything for everyone."

WHY DID POLICE TAKE 3 WHOLE MONTHS TO ARREST MOS DEF?

LATEST: Las Vegas authorities have defended the issue of a warrant for the arrest of rapper/actor MOS DEF three months after an alleged attack - insisting they needed time to fully investigate the case before questioning the star. Two warrants were issued for the star, real name Dante Smith, on Tuesday (04Nov08) in connection to a clash with a fashion photographer in August (08). Mos Def faces charges of felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property after photographer Volker Corell claimed the rap star ripped a camera from his neck, smashed it to the ground and then took off with it.

But local police have been under pressure to justify the long delay. Public Information Officer Ramon Denby explains, "The initial report was taken by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority. By the time we arrived, the property, which in this case was a Nikon camera, had been returned. Detectives then took statements from witnesses and spoke to the victim and proceeded to gather the necessary evidence to turn the case over to the District Attorney's office.

"We have to have a certain amount of evidence to present a case to the D.A.'s office, who then makes the determination to move forward. "This was just a standard investigating time." Mos Def is currently touring in Europe and authorities are awaiting his lawyers getting in touch to organise a self surrender upon his return, reports AllHipHop.com.

MAYHEM: KANYE WEST ARRESTED AT LAX AFTER FIGHT WITH PAPPARAZZI!

Police arrested rapper-producer Kanye West on Thursday morning at Los Angeles International Airport on felony vandalism charges after an altercation with two paparazzi, airport police said. The incident, near the airport's Terminal 4, involved the rap star, Don Crowley -- his road manager and body guard -- and a photographer and a cameraman who were taking their photos, airport police said.

The cameras of the paparazzi were damaged in the altercation, police said. West, 31, and Crowley were both arrested on charges of felony vandalism. Initial police reports that said Crowley also had been charged with battery were incorrect, police said. West, a 10-time Grammy winner, and Crowley were in the airport to catch a flight to Honolulu, Hawaii, police said. The pair were outside of passenger security screening when the incident took place. DRAMA: Lily Allen thanks police over friend's "kidnap"

Lily Allen has thanked London police for rescuing a close friend of hers who she said had been kidnapped for ransom. The friend, named only as "Charlie", and another man were allegedly abducted at gunpoint from a sports store in west London and bundled into the back of a car at the start of the month. They were held for a week before Metropolitan Police officers located them at a house in east London.

"Thank you to the Met for getting my friend Charlie back -- we were all terrified and from what I hear you guys did an amazing job," she wrote on her website's blog. Allen, who revealed details of the incident when she hosted the GQ Men Of The Year Awards on Tuesday, said the plan had been to extort money from the victim's family. Police said five men had been charged with offences including conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to blackmail.

THE TACTICAL UNIT???: Ottawa police say they were helping an Ontario Provincial Police guns task force when they raided an Ottawa rapper's home on Friday the 16th August 2008. Police stormed Belly's home in Greely, south of Ottawa, and found no illegal weapons. They did find three pellet guns. "It's crazy, you feel violated when this happens," Belly told CTV Ottawa. "If I was here, it would be different." A surveillance camera outside Belly's home captured the raid by tactical officers and the canine unit. The rap star says police caused about $40,000 damage during their search. Police have not said what information prompted their search. No charges will be laid.

This is the same thing that happened to Producer/Rapper Kamikaze in Toronto. Kama, it's time for the police brutality rally. Now we have Fresh I.E, Kamikaze and Belly all violated! PIRATES LOOT CELEBRITY YACHT!!! DIDDY DOOMED FOR FLOATING VENUES!

JACK NICHOLSON, GIORGIO ARMANI and SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS will have to find a new party boat - after a band of pirates stormed a hot-spot celebrity yacht on Monday (25Aug08). According to reports published on Wednesday (27Aug08), a band of four masked men climbed aboard the luxury yacht - frequented by celebrities vacationing in the Mediterranean - while it was anchored off the French island of Corsica. The robbers led their attack via speedboat, jumping aboard the $36.7 million Tiara wielding handguns and rifles. They ordered guests to empty their pockets before making off with $183,180 in cash and a collection of jewellery and artwork.

The captain of a ship in the French Riviera tells British newspaper The Sun: "Passengers who charter yachts are very wealthy, so pirates could steal several hundred thousand pounds... in a few minutes." The yacht's owner, New York real-estate mogul Jonathan Leitersdorf, was not on board when the attack occurred.

Dumb Ass Hip hop mogul 'Suge' Knight released from Las Vegas jail.

Marion (Suge) Knight has been released from a Las Vegas jail. The founder of bankrupt Death Row Records posted $19,000 bail Wednesday and promised to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Sept. 26 on felony assault and drug charges. Police arrested the hip hop mogul on Wednesday morning after officers say they saw him beat his girlfriend while brandishing a knife in a parking lot near the Las Vegas Strip.

The woman was not stabbed but she was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. Police say Knight had the drugs Ecstasy and hydrocodone when he was arrested. A Clark County Detention Center clerk says records do not indicate when Knight was released.

DID YOU HEAR YUNG BERG ROBBED AND ASSAULTED LAST WEEK?

Rapper YUNG BERG was forced to cancel an appearance this weekend after he was robbed and assaulted at a U.S. nightclub. The hip-hop star - real name Christian Ward - was attacked by a group of men, who fled with his jewellery, at Plan B nightclub in Detroit, Michigan on Friday (22Aug08), reports AllHipHop.com. The men were said to have confronted Ward over remarks he previously made about Detroit rappers.

Ward was left "badly bruised" after the altercation and was forced to cancel his appearance the following day (23Aug08) at the city's Summer Jam festival. The 22-year-old was arrested earlier this month on a series of drug and weapons charges after he got into a dispute with a limo driver in New York.

UPDATE: Days after Kidz In The Hall rapper Naledge (THE LIGHT SKIN ONE) was arrested for allegedly interfering with a police investigation of an altercation inside a Tempe, AZ nightclub, the duo’s manager is coming forward to set the record straight with his take on what really happened at the venue. Naledge (born Jabari Miles Evans) was taken in to police custody early Saturday morning (July 26) shortly after a fight broke out at the Cherry Lounge & Pit, according to Tempe police spokesman Sgt. Steve Carbajal.

Double O from the hip hop group Kidz In The Hall was assaulted by several bouncers early Saturday morning, July 26, while inside a nightclub in Tempe, AZ following a Kidz In The Hall performance. Group member and friend Naledge, who did not witness the assault on Double O, was arrested outside of the club. Naledge's attempt to get medical assistance for Double O was misconstrued as a hinderence to the investigation.

Reports that no injuries were sustained are false as Double O was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries from the excessive force used by club security. On Sunday morning Double O underwent surgery for one of his injuries. He is still in the hospital, but in stable condition. In the last 2 years, Kidz In The Hall have traveled to over 10 countries, have done 200+ shows and never before been involved in any altercation, big or small, with club or concert security, or police officers.

OMG! This is fockin absurd!!! Those kids have never caused trouble. They had so much fun on stage here in Toronto. Did these security types knew who they were? Regardless, everyone should be treated well damn it? I wish him well soon!

JACOB THE JEWELER SUES WYCLEF FROM JAIL!

Jailed New York jeweller JACOB ARABOV's (FAR LEFT)company is suing ex-FUGEES star WYCLEF JEAN over non-payment of bills. Lawyers for Jacob and Company Incorporated claim the hip-hop star owes money for watches and jewellery he bought. In court papers filed in New York on Tuesday (29Jul08), the jewellery firm's bosses claim Wyclef `bought' several items between March 2002 and January 2006 for a total of $765,100 and still owes almost $320,000, despite "repeated demands for payment". A representative for the hitmaker has yet to respond to the allegations. Arabov, aka Jacob The Jeweler, was sentenced to serve over two years behind bars in June (08) for lying to investigators of a multistate drug ring.
