CELEBRATING 25 YEARS AS A PHARMACIST: #MSKEMI RELAUNCHES @HEALTHREPORTS

My Pharmacy career May 5th 1988 grad
Celebrate with me: 25 years ago, I became a Pharmacist and graduated May 5th 1988 from North America's 1ST #Pharmacy school The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. I practiced Pharmacy in America, Nigeria and Canada. I was awarded a volunteer of the year award by Governor Parris Glendening of the State of Maryland for my extensive community work getting rid of drugs off the streets of Baltimore, Maryland at the time when everyone was fleeing the city.

I educated people, I went to schools, communities. Drugs killed Baltimore and we TOOK THE STREETS BACK. WE did it! Baltimore Believe campaign with work with ordinary community members like me saved this city. A lot died in the struggle, including the entire Dawson family whose house was firebombed by a drug Kingpin.

Special thanks to President Bill Clinton who awarded me an Alien of Exceptional Ability Permanent Resident visa in the United States of America, Congressman Elijah Cummings, Senator Barbara Mikulski and Former President of the NCAAP Kweisi Mfume who sponsored it. Also BET networks for having me be their Expert Guest on the November 1996 show Drugs Undercover. I also thank the Baltimore City schools Suprintendent and staff who approved my drug education video for use in schools. "Yes you can raise a child drug free" was featured on so many TV channels in the 90's including PBS.

In 2006, I was honored by the Faculty of Pharmacy at the oldest University in Nigeria. Just like I went to the oldest Pharmacy school in North America, University of Ibadan hosted me and I was featured in Famasi magazine.

Contrary to some lies out there that I lost my licence in Georgia, USA. That is not even true. Hating, vicious characters I helped Toronto Police lock up their murderous associates made that up by even photoshopping a screenshot of my license. I did not renew any of my US licenses when I left the US for good in 2006. There was no need to.

I am NOT retired. I suffered a workplace injury at Krogers Pharmacy in Atlanta in 2005 and I became partially disabled unable to stand more than 3 hours anymore. I worked for Loblaws in Canada and the last thing I received  was a letter from the Corporate office describing me as a "Phenomenal and Unforgettable woman." Loblaws is the largest retailer in Canada. I left Loblaws in 2010 after my injury complications from the USA developed. I resumed my living as a Journalist>>>Sitting down on the job.

After Pharmacy, I went on to pursue Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations as I moonlighted in the Pharmacy to pay my tuition.

I made a difference where it needed to be. In Toronto, I did the same for guns. Yes I spoke out and ruffled feathers but I care less. Do what is right whatever community you live in.

Congrats to all my classmates as well, Sue Ruane, Catherine, Deb, Soodabeh Jaffari, and more wherever you are.

I will be reviving my Pharmacy twitter handle @HealthReports

BREAKING NEWS: LIL WAYNE PLACED IN INDUCED COMA AFTER MORE SEIZURES.

Rapper Lil Wayne is reportedly fighting for life at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a second series of seizures in a week. The hitmaker has been placed in an induced coma, and he has been listed in critical condition.

Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., was initially hospitalised in Los Angeles on Tuesday night after suffering multiple seizures. He was released on Wednesday but taken back to the medical centre hours later after a bodyguard found him lying unconscious in his room.

Weezy is now said to be in INTENSIVE CARE! Please pray for Wayne. He came from nowhere to become what he became. I addressed one issue with him and it was about the codeine cough syrup. I went after Dwayne because of what Pimp C went thru .

#MsKemi in my Pharmacist days
As some of you know, this year marks 30 years I began working in a Pharmacy. I was a registered Pharmacist in the US before I retired in 2010. Promethazine with Codeine (Phenergan with Codeine) is what Dwayne reportedly drank and abused.

He even sang about it and it disturbed me because of hypoxia which ultimately killed Pimp C who often drank Tussionex, another powerful narcotic cough syrup. It is a condition that cuts oxygen totally from the brain. These cough syrups are designed for people who actually have bad coughs. When absent, the drugs go to the pleasure centers of the brain, causing euphoria that may be uncontrollable and ultimately turn into seizures!

Reginae and Sarah's son (2 of Weezy's kids)

Wayne cannot leave us now. NEVER! He has 4 kids for several women. The children are doing so well and he has cared for each of them. of family. I am Reginae's friend on Facebook and get access to such great family pictures like these.

His career is in top shape. He is the big name in Young Money who I'm trying to bring to Nigeria. Pls put Wayne and the family in prayers. Meanwhile question have risen on who tweeted on his handle when he was reportedly in the ICU in a coma?

I cannot reach Baby, MackMaine, Drake, Nicki or anyone as a matter of fact and their lips in Drake's camp and even Nicki's camp are sealed! Sarah Cunningham, Young Money's PR lady did admit that Weezy in fact did have a seizure. Kia Selby, Wayne's personal publicist says there were no induced comas as reported by TMZ.

Pls continue to pray for Weezy. Prescription abuse has killed many celebrities and it's time we pinpoint this issue and put a stop to it--MsKemi @HipHossip on twitter Time in Nigeria is 3am Saturday 3/16/13

LIL WAYNE SUFFERS SEIZURES THIS PAST WEEK AGAIN AFTER SHOOTING MUSIC VIDEOS.

Lil Wayne and daughter Reginae in the younger days

Lil Wayne suffered seizures again this week. Pls pray for his health as this hard working rapper is about to launch a new album. Weezy is badly wanted in Africa now and we are just waiting for the right time to bring Young Money here.

Sources close to the rapper tell us, Wayne suffered the seizures Tuesday night after shooting a music video in L.A. and was subsequently taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital. Weezy was released several hours later, early Wednesday morning. We're told he's doing much better now.

It's not the rapper's first encounter with seizures either -- TMZ broke the story ... Wayne suffered two seizures on board separate airplanes last October.

Lil Wayne later acknowledged he'd been prescribed seizure medication by his doc.

Weezy's rep declined to comment.

MISSY ELIOTT DIAGNOSED WITH THYROID DISEASE.

Rap star Missy Elliott says she has Graves disease, a thyroid problem that caused her hair to fall out and shut down her nervous system. But the condition is rarely life-threatening, and the 39-year-old Grammy winner is exercising regularly under medical supervision.“My nervous system shut down, you know,” Elliott said in an episode of the VH1 show “Behind the Music” airing June 29 on the cable network.“Your skin is dry, your hair falls out, you wake up, your eyes feel like they’ve got rocks in them,” she said.Graves disease cannot be cured, but its symptoms can be handled with treatment, according to medical organization the Mayo Clinic.

Elliott, who is known for the hit songs “Get Ur Freak On“ and “Work It,” was diagnosed with Graves disease in 2008 but kept her condition private, her publicist Anne Kristoff told Reuters on Thursday. She said Elliott “pretty much exercises every day, so she’s committed to her health.”Patients with Graves disease have a thyroid gland that overproduces the hormone thyroxine, which increases the metabolic rate and can affect a person’s appearance and energy level.Elliott gained fame in the 1990s and won four Grammys, but has not released an album since 2005’s “The Cookbook.” She is working on an album tentatively titled “Block Party,” with producer and rapper Timbaland.

50 CENT SIGNS UP AS BONE MARROW DONOR TO HELP SICK BROADWAY STAR.

Rap superstar 50 CENT is encouraging fans to follow in his footsteps and register as bone marrow donors after he was moved by the plight of young Broadway star and leukaemia sufferer SHANNON TAVAREZ. The 11-year-old actress, who played the young Nala in hit musical The L ion King, was diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia in April (10) and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant to survive.

Alicia Keys and Rihanna have already issued a plea to their devotees to help find a suitable donor for Tavarez and now 50 Cent and his G-Unit bandmate Tony Yayo have thrown their support behind the cause. The rappers recently registered with DKMS, the world's largest marrow donor centre, after hearing about little Tavarez. And the In Da Club hitmaker admits he was inspired to make a change aft er realising how close in age Tavarez is to his own son, Marquise.

50 Cent says, "My son is just a couple years older than Shannon and I can't imagine if his life was needlessly cut short when there is someone out there that could save him. "Shannon's chances of finding a matching donor are slim because she's African American and Dominican and minorities are underrepresented in the national registry. "Everyone, regardless of their race or ethnicity deserves a fair chance at life. Registering to become a bone marrow donor starts with a cheek swab but it's more than that. It's a commitment to save a life."

RAPPER BUCKSHOT OF BLACKMOON HOSPITALISED!

http://media.prefixmag.com/site_media/uploads/images/artists/b/buckshot/500x333_buckshot.jpg

BLACK MOON rapper BUCKSHOT has been hospitalised after suffering a series of seizures.
The Brooklyn-based hip-hop star was forced to seek emergency medical treatment after returning from a tour in Europe. He is currently in a stable condition in hospital.

No other details about the rapper's medical condition were available. Buckshot's hospitalisation means the rap trio has been forced to reschedule a reunion concert in New York which was due to take place yesterday on Friday (26Sep08).

A statement from the star's Duck Down Records music label reads,

"While of course we are disappointed to have to reschedule a sold out show, obviously nothing takes precedent over Buckshot's health. If he could walk out of that hospital on his own right now I know he would have been on that stage. He was truly looking forward to this night."
The show has been rearranged for 11 November (08) and disappointed fans have been offered refunds.

Disappointed fans when the artist had a seizure? What kind of priorities do people have these days? I like those lab experiment videos of his. We wish Buckshot a speedy recovery.

REWIND: NELLY'S THOUGHTS ON HIS LATE SISTER AND HOW SISTERS FOCKED HER CHANCES UP!

"You get on brothers about doing certain things, but then when the brother comes to do something helpful for the community, you knock him for the bad s-t that he did. Example: Spelman. I come down there to teach people about leukemia and help benefit and try to help save lives and try to find a donor for my sister. Yet unstill, instead of doing that and help and teaching our community about a bigger issue as far as healthcare, you want to have a three hour conversation about a f-king video. Now, where are our priorities in it? Why didn't you take that same three hours and educate brothers and sisters up on leukemia and what I came down there for? Now the same fight you are fighting in 2005, are you fighting that today? Because I don't have my sister today! No, I don't have her today! But are fighting that same battle?"

– Rapper Nelly talking about the backlash he received from his 'Tip Drill' music video in 2005 from Spelman College students during an interview with Sirius Satellite Radio end of August 2008.

Nelly's sister Jackie was my friend and I was still living in ATL when all this happened. That shyt really pissed me off! Does anyone remember what Jackie went thru with that Leukemia? Rihanna goes out of her way to get some white lady a donor, music women packed TV days ago to raise money for cancer awareness? Was this too late for my dear beloved friend Jackie? The women at Spelman did not want Nelly to use the venue because of some message in a video! Makes no sense! Stories below........originally reported in 2007.

A leukemia patient in dire need of a bone marrow transplant reportedly has found a donor after Grammy-winning singer Rihanna publicized her case. Rihanna is the in-star and she can also get more albums sold too. I really commend her humanitarian work but is it all the time a celebrity helps in getting a bone marrow donor for a desperate patient?

A certain friend of mine died in the quest for looking for the right marrow for years, yet her brother was the celebrity who was championing her cause! The venues.......imagine ordinary venues would not even let him use their spot to get blacks and other minorities to come out and donate blood. Other blacks prevented him from using their spot. Now Rihanna helps a white woman get a donor in less than 2 weeks. Does that send a race message on how we blacks sometimes don't focus on the right things?

Nelly was disrespectful to women in his tip drill video.......yadadadayada, so they didn't want him on their campus! To you ladies of Spelman College in Atlanta, Jackie was even one of you. She even attended there as a current student before her illness got worse. I was in the process of securing a huge Atlanta megachurch to volunteer their premises for a donation day when Jackie passed away. A city full of blacks wasted after this family searched forever for a donor! My friend Jackie is Jackie Donahue, sister to Rapper Nelly........R.I.P

FANTASIA TELLS U.S WOMEN'S MAGAZINE SISTER 2 SISTER SHE HAD A THROAT TUMOR!!!

I read this somewhere last week but then checked on the source and below are portions of her interview with Jamie Foster-Brown the Editor.

Jamie: You are a helluva performer. That energy on that stage is just unbelievable. So we miss you with that. Now, getting back to the Color Purple. They were saying you had absences. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to work, but because your vocal cords kept shutting down or something? Tell me about that.

Fantasia: The tumor that was on my throat would make me very tired. And you know me, I’m a hard worker. I came out of the box working hard. I kept telling them that I’m getting very tired. It was like I couldn’t get enough sleep. And sometimes onstage, I could taste blood. I had braces on, so [I thought] maybe I’m biting my lip or I’m biting something in my gums or something. But I would taste blood every now and then. And what would happen was they would send me to the hospitals and they would say, “Well, she’s dehydrated; that’s what’s making her tired.” They would put IVs in me.

But it just wasn’t enough. I kept saying, “I’m drinking water; it can’t be that, something else must be wrong.” And so after the Color Purple, after doing Clive Davis’s party, I had to do “I’m Here” that night and I remember waking up and I told my manager, I said, “Something is wrong. I’m so tired.” And I’m an Energizer bunny, so I know something ain’t right. I went to one of the best doctors in LA. He checked me out, he says, “Well, first of all, you have the flu and you have a sinus infection.” And he said, “But if you don’t mind, can I put a camera down your throat?” And so I let him look down my throat and I had a cyst, he said at first.

He let me see it and I remember busting out crying and crying ’cause my vocal is my everything. I’ve been singing ever since I was a little baby and I’ve never experienced anything like that before. And in The Color Purple I play so many different ages from 14 to 30-something, so I was busting blood vessels. And so my mother came out and we all were just like, okay, we’re going to pray our way through this. I went into surgery and he came out and told my mother it was a tumor. It was a tumor. WILL.I.AM'S KNUCKLE RAP.

BLACK EYED PEAS rapper WILL.I.AM has a scar on his knuckle from filming fight scenes in forthcoming film X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE - because he accidentally punched a camera lens. The Heartbreaker hitmaker - real name William Adams - makes his feature film debut in the upcoming movie in the latest outing of the hit comic book franchise, which is due out next year (09). He tells MTV News,

"You see that little scar I've got on my knuckles? "I'm a newbie when it comes to big action films and stuff... It was my fight scene. I was real into it, and then I missed my mark, and I punched the camera and broke the lens!" And the star admits that it took him 50 takes before the director was happy with his scene. He adds, "But that goes to show you. I ain't to be messed with, because I break lenses!"

KELLY ROWLAND TAKES HIV TEST FOR CHARITY.

R&B singer KELLY ROWLAND will undergo a HIV and Aids test in Africa to raise awareness of the deadly diseases - in a bid to try and dissolve the stigma surrounding the illnesses. The former Destiny's Child star decided to visit Nairobi to encourage the country's young people to get tested for the illness, which is rife in the Kenyan capital. Rowland is an ambassador for MTV's Staying Alive Foundation, which aims to reduce discrimination against HIV and Aids victims, and has visited projects in Tanzania and Kenya to promote the charity.

She says, "Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to HIV infection, and it is important for everyone to know their HIV status. "The quicker you know your status, the sooner you can receive treatment if you're HIV+, and reduce the risk of inadvertently infecting future partners."

EXHAUSTED BLIGE SCRAPS AUSTRALIAN TOUR!

MARY J BLIGE has cancelled what was to be her first Australasian tour, citing exhaustion. The weary R&B star, who is currently performing dates in Britain, will not be making the trip to Australia this weekend as planned, for shows that were billed to start in Perth on 10 June (08). Instead, the dates in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand will now take place in November (08). In a statement released on Friday (06Jun08), tour promoter Michael Chugg said he accepted Blige was too tired to make the trip Down Under at this time.

He reveals Blige's "overwhelming tour schedule" has left her desperate for a rest and he agreed it would not be feasible to proceed with the tour as planned. He explains, "We won't risk health complications or undue stress for the artist." Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Blige says, "I am so disappointed that I won't be able to make it to Australia and New Zealand for the June tour as planned. "I want to thank all of my wonderful fans who supported the announcement of my first tour in these countries and I can't tell you how excited I was to come down in June and put on a show for you all. Postponing these shows has been an extremely difficult decision for me and I am sincerely sorry that I will not be able to fulfil my tour commitments."

HEALTH WARNING FORCED MISSY TO DIET.

Rapper MISSY ELLIOTT trimmed down her bulky figure when a doctor told her she was hurtling towards an early grave. The Get Ur Freak On hitmaker was stunned when a medic urged her to lose weight or risk tipping her high blood pressure problems over the edge - because fans and record company bosses never had a problem with her size. She reveals, "The reason I lost weight is because I have high blood pressure. I take two blood pressure pills a day. "My doctor told me, 'If you wanna be around , you're gonna have to lose weight.' So that was my focus." There she is back home in Nigeria onstage at the ThisDay Music festival in 2006.

SOLANGE KNOWLES BREAKS HER FOOT.

BEYONCE KNOWLES' singer sister SOLANGE was hospitalised at the weekend after breaking her foot at the beginning of her U.S. tour. The star was in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday (01Jun08) to perform tracks from her new album Sol-Angel when the accident occurred.

A representative for Knowles, 21, said in a statement: "As Solange entered the stage in Kansas City, a large piece of metal fell from the doorway and onto her foot, breaking it. "Ms Knowles continued to head out to the stage and performed her full set while in extreme pain. Immediately following her performance, she was rushed to the hospital where she learned her foot was indeed broken." Knowles will complete the remainder of her tour with her foot in a cast. She will perform some of her set seated, due to the injury.

Eve suffered anxiety attack on plane to the land down under!

Rapper EVE suffered a minor panic attack on a flight to Australia - but denies it was because she was sharing cabin space with superstar 50 CENT. She's got two strikes against her there. 50 being your neighbor and then Australia is a 28 hour flight right?

The Who's That Girl? star will perform at the MTV Australia Awards 2008 at Sydney's Australian Technology Park on 26 April (08). But the star blamed her anxiety on performing in the country for the first time - and denies she was starstruck after sharing a flight with 50 Cent.

She says, "Yeah, I was having a little panic attack. Getting up on stage in a different country always makes you as nervous as you are excited." Looks like she was OK after clearing her baggage above....LOL!

Let me CLEAR MY THROAT: Frenchie and Leona Lewis both face throat surgery!

Leona Lewis is a damn good singer and she is not taking chances on that voice yet! In 2003, Frenchie Davis was dropped from "Idol" because of a previous appearance on an adult Web site. In contrast, the Fox talent show took no action this season when contestant David Hernandez's stint as a nightclub stripper was revealed or when racy photos of Antonella Barba surfaced last season on the Internet. We know Fox is a fraud but this story is about Frenchie facing throat surgery to remove a vocal cord polyp. Same goes for Leona Lewis, the currently hot British R&B singer. She is prone to severe bouts of tonsillitis which are threatening to hamper her singing career!
