I did not even notice this till everyone started talking about it. Show was good though. Ahead of her Super Bowl halftime show, singer Madonna promised there would be no "wardrobe malfunction." What she didn't guarantee was no obscene gestures.Rapper M.I.A. provided a middle finger salute to network cameras Sunday night during the 12-minute extravaganza, when she joined Madonna during a performance of the latter's new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin."

The apologies from the NFL and the broadcaster, NBC, came quickly -- they blamed each other." There was a failure in NBC's delay system," said Brian McCarty, the league's vice president of communications. "The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.""The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show," NBC said. "Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers."The episode was reminiscent of the 2004 Super Bowl when singer Janet Jackson's nipple was briefly exposed during a performance with singer Justin Timberlake.

Madonna had admittedly been nervous about her performance, hoping to position herself as the queen of a new generation of pop stars with an opulent show and a sharp performance that mixed her new release with more familiar songs. She seemed like Roman royalty when muscle-bound men carried her extravagant throne across the football field to the stage for her opening song, "Vogue."Guests Cee Lo, Nicki Minaj and dance rockers LMFAO also appeared with Madonna.

The singing and dancing on "Vogue" was smartly choreographed, as Madonna moved more deliberately -- she is 53 -- but still adroitly. She briefly appeared to stumble at one point while trying to make a step on the stage set, but recovered in time.She let a tightrope walker make the more acrobatic moves during a performance of "Music."Madonna carried gold pompons for a performance of her new single. Twitter was alight with questions about the vocals being lip synched or augmented by tapes, particularly during this song.The best guest was clearly Cee Lo, who joined Madonna for the final song, "Like a Prayer." They were joined by a robed chorus in the show's most soaring performance.

With a puff of white smoke, Madonna disappeared down a trap door in the stage, and lights on the field spelled out "World Peace."The performance was also carried live on SiriusXM Radio, giving Madonna the biggest single audience of her career. For all the elaborate choreography and flashy effects, the finger incident is the more likely headline from the event.Earlier, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert offered some pregame patriotism. Shelton and Lambert did a twangy duet on "America the Beautiful" and Clarkson, in a simple black dress, sang "The Star Spangled Banner" without a hitch after last year's performer, Christina Aguilera, flubbed a line.

Lara Stone has replaced Madonna as the face of Louis Vuitton.

The Dutch model - who is known for her gap-toothed smile and curvy frame - has been snapped up by the French design house who were keen to move away from the ultra-skinny look they usually go for.

Speaking of the 25-year-old beauty, Louis Vuitton's communications director Antoine Arnault told WWD: "After two seasons with such a huge star as Madonna, Marc Jacobs, the artistic director, decided to take a breather and work with a model - and not just any model. It's the choice of a new supermodel."

Marc claimed Madonna had been replaced for the new Spring 2010 collection because he was after a completely different "New Age Traveller" look which is much softer to the image the 'Celebration' singer had created.

The designer also welcomed a seductive 70s feel to the new line and said he thought it was more aesthetically pleasing, as well as comforting.

He said: "The collection loosely took its cues from the idea of the New Age traveller; we decided to create a green, outdoorsy set that would evoke a spirit of peace and love.

"To model the clothes, we wanted a modern, iconic, sexy beauty... it had to be Lara Stone."

Madonna, 51, will now star in Dolce and Gabbana's Spring 2010 campaign.

MADONNA WINS $7.3 MILLION LAWSUIT.

Madonna has won undisclosed damages from a British tabloid after editors broke privacy and copyright laws by publishing photographs of her wedding to Guy Ritchie. The pop superstar launched legal action against the U.K.'s Mail on Sunday after it printed "purloined" pictures of her now defunct union to the Brit director in 2000.

The newspaper published 11 snaps of their Scottish nuptials around the time of their divorce last November (08). Madonna never released or sold any pictures of the ceremony at Skibo Castle, Scotland and so she accused the publication of breach of privacy and copyright infringement, seeking more than $7.3 million in damages.

The photographs are believed to have been copied by an interior designer working at the star's Beverly Hills, California home. And on Tuesday (06Oct09), a judge at London's High Court ordered Associated Newspapers to hand the singer a substantial payout. The Material Girl was not present at the settlement, and is expected to donate the awarded damages to her Raising Malawi charity.

MADONNA and LADY GAGA stunned America on Saturday night (03Oct09) by staging a catfight on live TV. The two pop divas performed a synchronised dance-off, dressed in matching black lingerie and knee-high boots, as part of a comedy skit on Saturday Night Live, which was called to a halt when Madonna started pulling Gaga's wig and throttling her, yelling, "What the hell is a disco stick?" - referring to the younger star's hit.

The feuding pair was separated by the host of fictitious MTV show Deep House Dish, but a comedy war of words ensued as Gaga, the show's musical guest, cooed, "Guess what Madonna, I'm totally hotter than you," to which the Material Girl replied, "Hey guess what, I'm taller than you. What sort of a name is Lady Gaga; it sounds like baby food!" The pop pair ended the skit by moving in to kiss each other and then attacking SNL regular Kenan Thompson instead.

BREAKING NEWS: MADONNA HOSPITALIZED AFTER HORSE ACCIDENT--HORSE STARTLED BY THE PAPPARAZZI!

Madonna suffered "minor injuries and bruises" Saturday while horseback riding in New York's Hamptons, her publicist has announced.

On Saturday evening, Liz Rosenberg said that the entertainer, 50, had already been released from Southampton Hospital after she had been thrown off a horse that had been startled paparazzi.

Rosenberg said the photographers had jumped out of the bushes to snap Madonna, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island for the weekend. Further medical tests are to be conducted, and doctors will continue to observe Madonna, the rep added.

In 2005, Madonna broke several bones in a horse-riding accident – cracking three ribs and breaking her collarbone and her hand while at Ashcombe, her country estate outside London. The following year, she suffered a hernia and quickly recovered

Madonna settles divorce for up to $92 million!!

Madonna has paid her ex-husband British director Guy Ritchie up to 60 million pounds ($92 million) to settle their divorce after eight years of marriage, her spokeswoman said on Monday.

Liz Rosenberg said the singer, 50, had given Ritchie, 40, between 50 and 60 million pounds ($76 million and $92 million) as part of their divorce, which was granted by a British court on November 21.

She said that sum includes the couple's English country estate, Ashcombe, which is valued at about 20 million pounds ($30 million).

The couple's combined wealth has been estimated at about $525 million, but Madonna accounts for most of it.

Rosenberg said custody arrangements for the couple's children have not been finalized.

MADONNA and baseball hunk ALEX RODRIGUEZ have fuelled speculation they're a couple after spending the weekend (28-30Nov08) together in Mexico City. The pop star was in the Mexican capital for two shows, while New York Yankees star Rodriguez was the guest of honour at a new sports complex on Sunday (30Nov08). The rumoured couple reportedly spent much of Thanksgiving Day (27Nov08) together and Rodriguez was spotted at the singer's recent Miami, Florida concert.

But the sportsman wasn't commenting on romance rumours as he spent time with young Mexican baseball fans. He simply told the local press, "It's a pleasure to talk about baseball." Madonna announced her split from husband Guy Ritchie in October (08) amid reports she and Rodriguez were an item. Both Madonna and the baseball player have dismissed the reports. The couple's quickie divorce will be finalised in the New Year (09). Rodriguez split from his wife Cynthia earlier in 2008. They divorced in September (08).

MADONNA SAYS SHE IS "SAD" ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFE!

Madonna says she is "sad" about her personal life. The 50-year-old singer has spoken for the first time about her divorce from Guy Ritchie - with who she raises three children - and admits the relationship breakdown is taking its toll on her. However, the pop superstar says she is pleased to have a busy career to focus on.

The pop superstar has filmed a brief video message about the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls and posted it on her website. Introducing the new message, Madonna writes, "After witnessing the potential of Malawi's girls firsthand, I made it my mission to give them an opportunity to become their personal best." In the video, shot in a hotel room, the singer says,

"There are very few girls in Africa in general who are encouraged or allowed to go to secondary schools so, after spending a lot of time there, I realised that one of the ways I could help was to build a girls school. "I would really be grateful if you would get involved and help me in any way you can with donations, spreading the word, visiting my website, reading about the progress we've made so far. Madonna has been a regular visitor to Malawi in recent years, and adopted son David from an orphanage in the country.

It was the power pop summit nobody thought would ever happen again. Madonna was set to reunite exes Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake onstage Thursday night during a stop on her Sticky & Sweet Tour at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Only Madonna, who had worked with both singers in the past, could bring the former Mouseketeers and teenage sweethearts back into the same frame.

Well, there are some things even Madonna can't, or won't, do. Though Spears and Timberlake both hit the stage with Madonna at the show — which was delayed three hours due to problems with the set — they did it at separate times, according to E! Online. Britney, wearing black pants, a white tuxedo-style shirt and black heels, came out to join Madonna for the show's third song, "Human Nature."

Oh no! They did not kiss this time. I would have loved to see that. Must be that Prop 8 bill that was defeated in California!

Jane said........And not just because of the ballad, You Must Love Me, which the 50-year-old Queen of Pop turned into a much more likeable gypsy folk song with the help of some incredible Romanian musicians last night at the Air Canada Centre during the first of two sold-out shows.

You have to give The Material Girl props for looking as good as she does at a half-century in the middle of an increasingly nasty divorce from British filmmaker Guy Ritchie and continuing to put on a first-class pop show in spite of all the endless chinwagging. As she herself delicately put it later in the show: "I'm working my ass off."

GYRATED

Madonna danced, skipped, crawled, gyrated and thrust her way around the stage for two hours on her Sticky and Sweet Tour while reinventing old songs and highlighting slick new ones from her latest album, the urban-flavoured Hard Candy.

The energy kept up for another new tune, Beat Goes On, which featured Madonna and her dance crew riding the stage in a vintage white convertible along the catwalk to a smaller stage closer to the audience of 17,000.

She can be forgiven then for strapping on an electric guitar for the formerly edgy bondage tune, Human Nature, while video of Britney Spears stuck in an elevator played above her on a circular video screen. Thankfully, the reinvention of Vogue, complete with the horns from her latest hit, 4 Minutes, worked better than later rock versions of Borderline and -- again with that electric guitar!

For the most part, it was Madonna's new material that shone brightest like Heart Beat while video of collaborators Kanye West and Pharrell Williams played with her expertly working the conveyer belt on her catwalk, and She's Not Me, which featured four incarnations of Madonna -- the Marilyn Monroe/Material Girl, the stripper from Open Your Heart, the wedding gowned bride from Like A Virgin and the cone-bra wearing button-pusher.

But it was the thunder and lightning enhanced, visually stunning new song, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, featuring Montreal keyboardist Ric'key Pageot and Madge in a black cloak atop his piano, that was the evening's showstopper as they rotated on the smaller stage while water imagery danced across the circular video screen enveloping them.

Also good was the upbeat new tune, Spanish Lesson. "Habla espanol?" said Madge, and the equally folky and Romanian versions of La Isla Bonita and the aforementioned You Must Love Me.

And the trio of 4 Minutes -- with video of her duet partner Justin Timberlake -- an electrifying electro version of Like A Prayer and the show-ending new song, Give It 2 Me, are as about as good as it gets at a Madonna concert.

Still, the moment everyone was waiting for, was the new song Miles Away, which everyone believes to be about the woes of having a long-distance relationship with Ritchie.

"This is sort of a love song -- can you dig it? -- for the emotionally retarded," she said while strumming an acoustic guitar during the song's intro.

News flash: Madge has been introducing this song this way since the launch of the North American leg back on Oct. 4 in New Jersey, which The Sun attended, and not just since the divorce was confirmed this past Wednesday.

Much more telling was the chess-imagery that played behind her on a video screen during Hung Up and her declaration: "In exactly 29 moves the queen will topple the king!" There was also her much-talked-about video segment comparing John McCain to Hitler and Barack Obama to Nelson Mandela, and a request segment where she sang a few bars of Express Yourself and Holiday.

WONDERFUL! That is why I did not go to Atlanta this past weekend. It was a tough clashing decision and my staff did a wonderful job over there! I hear she has reportedly settled her divorce for $60 million to Guy Ritchie. What a deal considering she's worth $400 million.

MADONNA ASKS---WHO'S THAT GIRL?

MADONNA FINED FOR BREAKING STADIUM CURFEW.

Pop superstar MADONNA has been fined $249,750 (£135,000) by London. U.K's Wembley Stadium officials for breaking the venue's curfew during the London stop of her Sticky & Sweet world tour earlier this month (Sep08).

The Material Girl's show overran the 10.30pm curfew by 40 minutes when she played there on 11 September - her only date in the U.K.
And she has now been charged $92,500 (£50,000) for every 15 minutes she overstayed her welcome.

A Wembley Stadium source says, "The concert was meant to start at 8.30pm but Madonna didn't come on stage until 9.10pm. The gig ended at 11.10pm so she was quite a bit over. "Her people knew about the possible implications for going over the curfew but this is a pretty hefty fine, even for Madonna."

NE-YO GIVES MICHAEL BOLTON AN URBAN TWIST!

R&B hitmaker NE-YO has teamed up with MICHAEL BOLTON to record a new song for the crooner's forthcoming album. The So Sick singer, real name Shaffer Smith, spent some time with Bolton in a Los Angeles studio this summer, and expected the session to be all business. But he was stunned to discover the 55-year-old's laid back attitude towards their work. Ne-Yo tells People.com,

"I really gotta stop judging books by their cover. I was expecting him to be really up tight. But he wasn't! He was so relaxed, cool and down to earth."

The result of their studio session was a track entitled Call My Name, which Ne-Yo says is

"about a mistake that a woman has made in choosing between two guys, and he's letting her know, 'I'm here regardless; call my name and I'm there'." And Ne-Yo reveals Bolton based the lyrics on his own lovelife, after splitting from actress fiancee Nicollette Sheridan last month (Aug08).
Asked whether the song had any personal meaning for Bolton, Ne-Yo replies: "Kinda sort of. But we both agreed that we had been in that boat before." He adds, "We sat and talked about all kinds of stuff - how he's newly single, marriage, the road - he was honestly one of the cooler sessions I've been in this year."

Meanwhile, he has brushed off rumours he holds a grudge against fellow R&B singer R. KELLY after winning a lawsuit against the star's tour promoter earlier this month (Sep08). The So Sick hitmaker won $700,320 in damages in a lawsuit filed against bosses at Rowe Entertainment Inc. after he was dropped as the support act from Kelly's 2007 tour.

The move came amid allegations that Kelly feared the younger singer was upstaging him - claims Kelly, who was not named in the suit, has always refuted. And Ne-Yo insists he bears no ill will towards the star. He tells the New York Daily News,

"I don't hate R. Kelly. It wasn't even really a feud. It's all in the past."

But Ne-Yo admits he has big plans for the compensation cash, adding,

"I think I'm going to use the money and open up a club or a cigar bar in Atlanta."
