San Sebastian (formerly known as Pumps)

Specials MuchMusic’s Gemini-nominated MuchOriginal breakout series DISBAND once again delivers rock ‘n roll glory.

San Sebastian is now signed to Universal Music Canada and The Agency Group for live bookings.

SFTC: CONGRATS TO LIZ TRINNEAR WHO WON MUCHMUSIC VJ 2.0!!!

Photo: via MuchMusic.com

It's another woman VJ! The ladies won. Liz Trinnear, a 21 year old from London, Ontario went thru a lot in her life. She won! Congrats young lady! Watch her videos below but first, she quotes...
"I'd like to compare myself to the “The Little Engine That Could.” I have surpassed many obstacles in my life by telling myself “I think I can.” This optimistic approach has got me to where I am today and for me the next stop is: MuchMusic VJ. One of my biggest aspirations is to become the bridge between the audience and their dreams. Whether it's their favourite musician, celebrity, actor or icon, I want to be apart of the MuchMusic Canadian pop culture experience."

Many of you are complaining in e-mails to me that Alli should have won but Liz was very good too. You voted and you picked your choice. Liz will do well, so quit hatin! Read all the coverage on Much's blog here.

ALLI WALKER LOSES MUCHMUSIC VJ SPOT!

A 19-year-old Summerside teen has lost her bid to be MuchMusic's next VJ.

Alli Walker made it to the top three, but lost on Friday to Liz Trinnear of London, Ont.

More than 4,000 people had auditioned online for the coveted position.

Walker told CBC she had talked "like a chipmunk" and played the bagpipes in her video, trying to garner as much support as possible.

"I want it so bad," she said during a Nov. 3 interview. "I've honestly never wanted anything more.

"I work 24 hours a day on this thing. I stay up until 3 o'clock most nights writing people back, and just trying to get as many fans as possible."

Walker had said one of the reasons she wanted to win was to have an opportunity to interview her favourite musician.

"I think anybody who knows me knows I absolutely love Taylor Swift So I think I'm done with being a fan and I want to be an interviewer," she said.

While Walker didn't get to interview Swift, she did, get a chance to meet her in Chicago.

MuchMusic based its VJ decision on several factors, including the applicants' photos, video auditions, social links and written submissions, as well as the views, feedback and ratings by fans.

From Paul Falkowski to Alli Walker, we followed them, loved them but only one wins. Congrats to Liz Trinnear!

HALLOWEEN TREAT: NO TRICKS AS JAY-Z BRINGS PHARRELL AND WALE ALONG ON SATURDAY OCT 31ST TO TORONTO.

Pharrell and I in 2004
N.E.R.D and Wale Join Jay-Z on MUCHONDEMAND, Oct. 31. Jay-Z brings along some friends for a special Halloween edition of MUCHONDEMAND. Pharrell Williams and Shea from N.E.R.D, and Jay-Z’s newest protég join the hip-hop mogul for a special MOD on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET. VJ Sarah Taylor sits down with three generations of hip-hop royalty, talking about everything from music to fashion and how it feels to be the hottest rappers around.

N.E.R.D

World-famous producers and songwriters Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, over the course of their decade-long career, have changed the course of music. It started with the redefining of hip-hop, the two of them wielding a minimalist, synthesized palette and a limitless imagination to create a sound that was as sophisticated and elegant as it was raw and rhythmic. Since then, Pharrell has gone on to a successful solo career, collaborating with some of the biggest artists including Jay-Z, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Brittney Spears, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani and Busta Rhymes. N.E.R.D's latest studio album Seeing Sounds produced such hit singles as "Everyone Nose (All The Girls Standing In The Line For The Bathroom)" and "Spaz."

WALE
American hip-hop artist Wale first made his mark in 2006, with his song "Dig Dug (Shake It)." Featured as the house band for the 2009 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, Wale releases his first full length album, Attention: Deficit, November 10. The album features collaborations with Lady Gaga, Jazmine Sullivan, Gucci Mane, Bun B, Marsha Ambrosious and Pharrell.
Thanks a million to Ashley Applebaum, one of our dynamic media contacts at MuchMTV Group Now if you haven't seen who pronounces "HipHossip" the BEST, It is WALE!! Watch the whole video.

Jay-Z Co-Hosts MUCHONDEMAND, Saturday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET.

He is married to singer Beyonce and he is back in Toronto for Halloween.

A special Saturday edition of MUCHONDEMAND welcomes the biggest rapper alive.
This Halloween, the most powerful man in hip-hop makes his second appearance on MUCHONDEMAND. In July 2005, Jay-Z introduced us to relative unknowns Rihanna and Kanye West live on air – an event that caused a second street to be shut down when fans flocked to MuchMusic HQ in downtown Toronto. Since that epic visit, Rihanna and Kanye have become two of the biggest music stars of the decade. Jay-Z makes his triumphant return to MOD on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET. The lyrical genius sits down with VJ Sarah Taylor to talk about the success of his latest album Blueprint 3, his rise to fame as a business mogul and what fans can expect next.

As always, viewers are at the centre of the action at MuchMusic, whether in the live audience or from home by asking questions via text, phone, e-mail, and webcam.

The self-proclaimed “best rapper alive,” Jay-Z is one of the most respected and financially successful hip hop artists and entrepreneurs of all time, having sold over 30 million copies of his 15+ albums in the US alone, and winning several Grammy Awards® over the past decade. This hip hop mogul brings the swagger and rhymes that made him famous to MOD, promising to get fans in an “Empire State of Mind”.

Thanks to Ashley Applebaum at Much for notifying HipHossip.

KEEP VOTING FOR PAUL ON MUCHMUSIC!!!!!!

"Thank you all so very much! I really appreciate everything you've done for me, and continue on doing." Paul Falkowski.

Our VJ is a little busy so I thought I'd pass on his message, and a few other important notes:

- Paul has fully submitted his application :D & submissions are closed :O

- UNEXPECTED! Voting continues until October 12th! (Finalists picked Oct 13th.)

- Tip: Make Paul's VJ entry page your homepage. I've done this and it has helped me tremendously in not forgetting to vote!
http://vj.muchmusic.com/gallery/681#gallery

- Paul went down half a star and we cannot let this continue, we know he's better then that! 1500+ people would not be supporting an applicant if we thought he'd fail as a VJ, so vote vote vote!

- And as you vote, keep inviting old friends and new friends to join this group, we need as many supporters as we can get, ESPECIALLY when we help him get into the top 16 ;)

- If you have Twitter or a Youtube account, please follow and subscribe to Paul, this will also help him tremendously because he needs a very strong online presence!
http://twitter.com/PFalkowski
http://www.youtube.com/user/paulfalkowski

And last but not least, depending on everyone's midterms and exams, etc. Paul is thinking of hosting some sort of celebration for you guys, regardless if he makes it or not. Paul truly wants the supporters to know how much he appreciates everything you guys have been doing for him.♥

Keep the love coming,

Rock royalty Nickelback, lit up the MMVAs stage and took home top honours scoring three awards (Best Video, Best Post-Production, MuchLOUD Best Rock Video).

The Midway State took home two awards (the coveted UR FAVE : Favourite New Artist and VideoFACT Best Independent Video) and international chart-topper Lady Gaga, who left fans awestruck with her umm…spark-spitting brassiere, seized the highly-coveted International Video of the Year award. Mega heartthorb co-hosts Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas caused heart palipitations at the legendary corner of Queen and John with not one, but two performances.

"It’s was an absolutely incredible night, with the best in the business doing their thing for the MuchMusic fans all night long,” said Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, The Much MTV Group, CTV Inc."Whether it was hugging a Jo Bros in person, being glued to the TV for three rock solid hours, or directing their own version of the MMVAs at muchmusic.com, the best part for us was being able to bring our fans closer to their favorite stars than they’ve ever been.”

Encore presentations of the 2009 MMVAs can be viewed online at muchmusic.com right now. Viewers can pick their favourite performances or see the whole broadcast in its entirety again. THE MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS IN MY OPINION IS WHAT MAKES TORONTO ICONIC......

Just watch my video and you be the Judge. Asked on CityTV's City Online with Kris Reyes, she wanted to know what makes T-Dot iconic and I called in the show back during the March 2009 birthdate. Does this sound like Deja-Vu with the Jonas brothers and all? I will get you some HOT coverage Sunday and Monday. Stay tuned as I am going to be camped in the pressroom. Make sure you check out rehearsals tommorrow.....Sat beginning in the afternoon.

REMEMBER, WRISTBAND HOLDERS, NO CAMPING OVERNITE!!!

MuchMusic announced today that I should tell you wristband-holders for this weekend’s MMVAs are encouraged to line up no earlier than 6 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 21. Wristband-holders are not permitted to camp overnight at MuchMusic HQ.

“Because we’re putting on the biggest and best MMVAs ever and because our fans are crazy-loyal, the level of excitement for the MMVAs is totally unprecedented this year,” said Brad Schwartz , Senior Vice-President, General Manager, Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. “The safety of our fans is our number one priority, so we’re asking wristband-holders not to come down to Queen Street until Sunday morning.”

Canada is preparing for the biggest party of the year, with the MMVAs stage now under construction and the corner of Queen and John fast becoming the epicentre of celebrity culture this weekend. MMVAs wristband-holders can look forward to locking their place in line starting Sunday morning at 6 a.m. ET.

Asher Roth Brings the Bread to MUCHONDEMAND.

http://joreysmindofficial.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/asher.jpg
Live Interview and performance on MUCHONDEMAND, Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. ET
Fans can join the party live in studio and via webcam, text, phone, and e-mail.

It’s not every day a suburban white kid falls in love with hip hop and ditches college to pursue a career as a rap star. Asher Roth has risen through the Internet ranks and convinced rap top dogs that his rhythmic word rhymes are white hot. Fans can check him out live Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. ET as the hip-hop Goodwill Ambassador rocks the beats on MUCHONDEMAND with a live performance and interview. Fans are at the centre of the action in the live audience and from home by asking questions via text, phone, e-mail, and webcam.

This is an MOD not to miss; after all, it’s going to be one awfully crazy party.

Asher Roth is a rapper from Morrisville, Pennsylvania who grew up, admittedly, sheltered in the suburbs. After discovering hip hop and beginning to write his own rhymes he released his debut album in 2006. But it’s his latest project, Asleep in the Bread Aisle making fans sit up and take notice with the catchy, true-to-life single, “I Love College” currently one of the most requested videos on MuchMusic. Roth was recently featured in Rolling Stone Magazine as an artist to watch.

Thanks to Amy Doary at CTV/Much MTV Media Relations for always putting HipHossip in the know.
