Hip-hop producer JAZZE PHA is turning his weight battle into a new reality TV show. The heavyweight star decided to turn his life around and adopted a heal thy diet in April (10), hiring celebrity trainer Kenya Crooks to help him get into shape. He has dropped more than 73 pounds (33 kilograms) in three months and he's now pitching his TV documentary to network bosses. Jazze Pha, real name Phalon Alexander, aims to lose a total of 100 pounds (45.4 kilograms) by the end of July (10) to help raise awareness about the dangers of obesity.
And the producer has thanked fans for their continued support as he strives to achieve his goal. He tells AllHipHop.com, "I have the best fans in the world. The love an d support that has been shown is overwhelming. It makes me feel good when people come up to me telling me they've been praying for me and how much my weight loss journey has inspired them."
Im proud of you Jazze! Stop that stupid cooking show and get healthy. Above is Pha with our US correspondents, the Lawrence twins at the 2009 BET hip-hop awards.
Music producer Demetrius Lee Stewart, known as Shawty Redd, is being held in a suburban Atlanta jail on a murder charge.
Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton says Stewart was arrested Friday morning.
Stewart is accused of shooting 35-year-old Damon A. Martin of Detroit in an argument at Stewart's home in Hampton, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.
The 28-year-old Stewart is charged with murder and was being held without bond in the Henry County jail Saturday. His first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 12. Police didn't know whether Stewart has a lawyer.
Stewart has worked with Young Jeezy, Snoop Dogg and other major artists.
Shocking to say the least. Wonder what he did with the body? How sad! However, this is North America where you are innocent until proven guilty. Below is his first court appearance. Very bad audio.
Jerry Wexler not only coined the phrase rhythm and blues, the legendary music producer was one of the key architects of the genre. He revolutionized popular music with seminal, superstar-making recordings of acts such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and others.
But the genius of Wexler, who died Friday at his Sarasota, Florida, home at 91, was not limited to just one style of music. Over his decades-long career, he would create varied soundscapes that touched just about every kind of listener, from his work with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson to his masterful recording of Dusty Springfield to his work with pop and rock acts like George Michael and Dire Straits.
He also helped build one of the most influential labels in pop, Atlantic Records, which was the home of Franklin, Charles, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. He was named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
This is DJ Toomp's song, in fact his first R&B credit. Remember we talked about that in this video interview right around 1:30 mins into the video This song needs to be cut as a SINGLE! The MTV VMA's were held earlier today in Tokyo.
Clifford Watson of H.I.T.M Entertainment and Manager of award nominated rap group POINT BLANK and Tamara Shelly, Publicist and founder of Caiz Communications in Toronto.

DJ Toomp born Aldrin Davis is an American record producer and DJ who works in Atlanta, Georgia. He is known for producing T.I.'s chart-topping hit, "What You Know." More recently, he contributed to production on Kanye West's Graduation, including producing the singles "Can't Tell Me Nothing" and "Good Life" with West, and the song "Say Hello" on Jay-Z's latest album American Gangster. He and hip hop veteran Bernard Parks, Jr. have launched their own record label called NZone Entertainment.
Bernard Parks Jr. the other half of the NZone Entertainment has music industry roots that reach back to the birth of the new Motown, Atlanta, GA. Parks was one of the masterminds behind Goodie Mob, Organized Noize and the Dungeon Family. He was an instrumental part of the creative explosion back in the early 90’s that gave birth to the music hotbed Atlanta is today. Parks says of his partner. “Me, I’m the aggressive one, I handle the business side and we balance each other out!"
DJ Toomp is known for his unique snares that can be heard on almost every single T.I. song he produced since early 2000s. He recently just earned his first R&B credit for producing "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time", a track on Mariah Carey's new album, and calls it a "dynamite of a song".
I met with DJ Toomp with a one hour notice at his downtown Toronto hotel. He was with his Manager and business partner hip-hop veteran Bernard Parks Jr. I sat down and we started our interview by asking him exactly how he started to love the art of producing. I joked about my own producing for fun and then I asked him six strategic questions......
On how he began producing, he told me his dad was in a music group and he always looked at the back of LP's and albums to see who produced and who did what. His dad taught him quite a lot in the music business. I asked him some of my favourite parts in Kanye's songs and the special effects.
On being known, I asked him if he had the need to be known? He said he's not the one to be known per say and that he has produced so many award winning artists like T.I, Pastor Troy, Kanye West, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Young Buck, Young Jeezy, 8Ball and MJG, Bone , Thugs n' Harmony, Missy Elliott, Mike Jone, L'il Jon and more! He's not one to dance in music videos. I believe some producers that did that were Diddy and Jermaine Dupri. He does not identify his tracks cos they have their own identity. Every Producer has their style. He talked about how he discovered Clifford Harris (T.I)
MC Shy D was a rapper that gave him his big break by allowing him to tour alongside him. On his success today, I asked him what would Shy D say? He said Shy D is definitely proud of him and he thanked him for that early opportunity.
What brings you to our Hollywood here called Toronto? He said he was working on a new album for Ludacris. Chris himself is here in Toronto filming a new movie.
On becoming a Producer-Rapper, the phenomenom that became controversial by record labels when Kanye West decided to be a rapper after years of being known as a Producer. He said NO! He's already rapped and producing is what he loved doing.
My final and big question was about Canadian Rappers. Granted that I lived in the USA for 24 years and moved here 11 months ago, I changed my 4 year old blog from a celebrity news blog to a hip-hop music blog as I noticed that Canada was lacking good hiphop coverage from the States and also for it's own rappers. I specifically asked Toomp if he was scouting Canadian talent and he replied that he was scouting talent around the world PERIOD!
So for you who has always wanted to get your demo to J.D, Killer Mike, Jazze Pha, Pharrell, Timbaland, Manuel Seal and more, DJ Toomp is accessible! I'm not saying the others are not but he has set up a portal on his MySpace site where you can send your demos! SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE. This man is extremely busy, he is a 4-time GRAMMY award winning Producer who's work is justFLAWLESS!
Think DJ Toomp should hear your music? Maybe he can clean it up a little bit or even work with you on his record label? NZone Entertainment is here and he's looking for fresh new music. Canadian and other Hip-Hop Artists, you can submit your demos to the address below......Tell him you read his story here at Kemi's blog in Toronto!

Rapper LUDACRIS has launched a website to seek out talented songwriters. WeMix.com invites members of the public to submit their homemade music online and to collaborate with other artists on the community site. Ludacris promises one lucky entrant the chance to record a track of theirs with him and some other "all-stars" in a studio. The hip-hop star hopes to expand WeMix to cable TV sometime in the near future.
Meanwhile that Fairfield University one hour concert performance got mixed reactions. Some said it was too short! Then while helping with cleaning up the stage after the gig, the College President fell and was rushed to the hospital. Below is the video of his performance of "Glamorous" at the concert.
USHER's producer has apologised to the R+B superstar for leaking music from his upcoming album online. Polow Da Don admits he recently placed unfinished tracks, including Love In This Club and Timbaland/Ludacris collaborations Moving Mountains and Dat Gurl Right There, on the internet. The studio wizard claims he leaked the tracks to build momentum for the Usher album, which doesn't yet have a release date.
Da Don explains to MTV, "I actually leaked it, I'm the culprit. It's no secret. "I told him (Usher) when I saw him that I had to put my relationship on the line: `If it fails, I know you probably gonna be mad at me. I know you probably won't f**k with me anymore.' "When I spoke to Usher, he was like, `Maaaan, why'd you do it?'. He knew I leaked the record, he didn't have to ask. I was like, `What?' He said, 'You know you leaked the record.' "But he was getting good calls on it too. He wasn't mad, but he was like, `Why'd you do that?' This jerk just lost his future production deals.I don't know why Usher is not working with my multi-Grammy award winning friend and Superproducer Manuel Seal who did his previous albums.
