All Amtrak service is suspended between New York City and Philadelphia at this time. Updates available at https://t.co/0oilXAZsFc.— Amtrak (@Amtrak) April 3, 2016
Amtrak has announced a suspension in service between Philadelphia and New York after the Palmetto 89 train derailed in South Philadelphia today. We hear there were about 340 plus people on board. No fatal casualties reported yet but I am learning that several were injured on that train. Amtrak is the main rail passenger carrier in the United States. The train reportedly hit a back hoe on the tracks. I will have the latest for you as it comes in.
