GUNS AND ROSES SUED!

Rocker AXL ROSE is at the centre of a new plagiarism row - executives at two indie record labels have accused him of copying portions of songs by German electronic music artist ULRICH SCHNAUSS. Record companies Independiente and Domino have filed a lawsuit against Guns N' Roses and Universal Music Group, claiming Riad N' The Bedouins, a track on the group's 2008 album Chinese Democracy, features Schnauss' tracks Wherever You Are and A Strangely Isolated Place without permission.

The labels are seeking $1 million in damages. The two Schnauss songs came out in 2001 and 2003, respectively, according to RollingStone.com.

ROSE DENIES ALBUM SALES SLUMPING FROM 'FEAR OF PEOPLE.'

GUNS N' ROSES frontman AXL ROSE has laughed off reports he has cancelled interviews to promote the band's new album CHINESE DEMOCRACY because he is suffering a fear of people. The LP - which took 15 years to complete and release - entered at number three in the Billboard chart at the beginning of this month (Dec08) with disappointing sales of 261,000.

A source tells the New York Post that Rose has refused to promote the floundering disc due to the crippling effects of "anthropophobia". A music industry insider tells the newspaper, "He has fired his management company, Front Line, three times in four weeks. "He hasn't left his Los Angeles home in two months. He won't give interviews, won't do talk shows, or perform - which makes touring or promoting very difficult, obviously."

But the rocker's spokesperson, Larry Solters, denies Rose has returned to his reclusive ways, adding, "He has not been diagnosed with anthropophobia. He hasn't fired Front Line, and no interviews have been cancelled."

YAWN: OASIS GALLAGHER HITS OUT AT COLDPLAY!

OASIS star LIAM GALLAGHER has slammed fellow British rockers COLDPLAY insisting he doesn't "give a s**t" about them. The Yellow hitmakers have become one of the most popular bands in the world in recent years, and have gained a strong following in the U.S., where Oasis have struggled for similar acclaim. But Gallagher is still adamant his group is far superior, and is confused as to why Oasis are not bigger in America - although he believes it may have something to do with the band's gloomy demeanour.

He tells Loaded magazine, "I don't give a s**t about Coldplay. We are the coolest band and we are the best f**king band. We are the most important band. We may not be the biggest band in America but who would want that? "We aren't as big as we could be in America because of our attitudes.

We're miserable. The main reason is they obviously don't like us. But a lot of people over there do like us. We sold out Madison Square Garden in a minute and we tour there for a long time. "But they don't buy our records. But America is not the be all and end all for Oasis. America is a country in a f**king very big world, so if they don't like us, somewhere else will."

That's what happens when your brother slams Jay-Z and even prevents him from headlining a British festival and then some Jay-Z fan cracks his ribs on stage in Toronto. Better be careful with Americans.

LISTENING PARTY WOES: GUNS N' ROSES KICK OUT TALENT SCOUT WHO DISCOVERED THEM AND MADE HIM LISTEN FROM THE SIDEWALK!

The talent scout who discovered GUNS N' ROSES was kicked out of a recent Hollywood listening event for the band's new album CHINESE DEMOCRACY. Tom Zutaut was the man responsible for signing Guns N' Roses to Geffen Records back in the 1980s, marking the start of a hugely successful career for the rock band.

But relations between Zutaut and Roses frontman Axl Rose have become frayed in recent times - culminating in the former music executive being shown the door by security guards at a listening party held at the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood earlier this month (18Nov08). Zutaut revealed all about the incident to website Blabbermouth.net - but insists he is not bitter towards Rose and is a fan of the new record, which took 15 years and cost $15 million to produce.

He says, "Yeah, sadly it is true that I was escorted out of the Roxy by a beefy security guy just prior to the last three songs of the playback. I did stand on the sidewalk and hear the last three anyway. "I believe that love and hate are a complicated thing but ultimately the same thing. I love Axl and think Chinese Democracy is a genius body of music. "It is sad and disappointing to me that those around Axl would lie to him to fuel his hatred towards me with imaginary events used to drive a wedge between us."

Axl? I don't believe ya! You'll get a spanking when you hit Toronto next year.

First of all, they did it for fun. I actually think Jimmy (Page, Led Zeppelin guitarist) wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because, I think, he was trying to light a fire under Robert (Plant)." And Whitford thinks Page wanted to send Plant a message to persuade him to tour with the band: "Come on! Come on, Robert, let's go!"

DOHERTY EXPLAINS BORRELL FEUD!

BABYSHAMBLES star PETE DOHERTY has finally explained why he scrapped with RAZORLIGHT frontman JOHNNY BORRELL in 2005 - insisting he was jealous of the singer's rising fame. The pair famously fell out over an incident at Leeds musical festival in England in 2005, with Doherty rumoured to have punched Borrell square on the nose during the brawl. And Doherty has now admitted to starting the fight, revealing he was infuriated by Borrell's band becoming more successful than his own.

He says in new biography, Beg, Steal or Borrow; The Official Babyshambles Story, "I was unnerved and angry about the way he'd become successful. He was saying s**t about me in the press. In the end we just got round there and it was handbags at dawn.

"Johnny's going, 'You c**t, I've been boxing on Holloway Road,' I just went: 'Have some of this, ' and put one on him (punched him). "I caught him with a f**king stonker. His nose went like a ripe tomato. He wore sunglasses for a month."

SLASH ENDORSES CHINESE DEMOCRACY ALBUM!

Former GUNS N' ROSES rocker SLASH has given the band's long-awaited comeback album the thumbs up. The guitarist quit Guns N' Roses in 1996 after falling out with frontman Axl Rose while the pair worked on the LP - which has taken 14 years to hit stores.

As Rose prepares for its 24 November (08) release, Slash - now a member of supergroup Velvet Revolver - responded positively when played a track from the disc on a Boston, Massachusetts radio station last week He told WBCN 104.1 listeners, "That sounds cool. It’s good to hear (Axl Rose’s) voice again, y’know?”

PETE DOHERTY'S MOSS PORTRAIT TO BE AUCTIONED.

KATE MOSS' self-portrait inscribed in ex-boyfriend PETE DOHERTY's blood is expected to raise at least $54,000 (£30,000) at auction this weekend. The painting, which was created between 2005 and 2006, will be sold at Edinburgh auction house Lyon & Turnball in Scotland on Saturday (27Sep08).

The rocker - who split from supermodel Moss last year (07) - is selling the portrait with a certificate of authenticity scrawled on a napkin. Moss is understood to have 'painted' the piece in lipstick while Doherty used his blood to write: "Who needs blood when you've got lipstick?"

ROCKERS "THE CURE" CALL ON FANS TO BOYCOTT ITUNES EP DOWNLOAD!

Rockers THE CURE are urging fans to boycott music download service iTunes because the website's bosses are charging an "absurd" price for their EP HYPNAGOGIC STATES. The release contains five remixes of the band's first four singles from their forthcoming album 4:13 Dream - with stars including Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy contributing to the EP. But frontman Robert Smith has called on fans not to buy the tracks from iTunes, claiming the pricing - at $14.79 (£7.99) is "totally f**king wrong".

In a post on The Cure's official blog, Smith writes:

"Please don't buy Hypnagogic States EP from iTunes for £7.99. It is absurd! TMU (The Men Upstairs) has (sic) managed to f**k this up to another level!" He goes on to post a copy of the email he sent to his record label bosses, in which he states, "I f**king despair again... 5 tracks for £7.99? For f**ks sake! "...Who the f**k is going to pay this and not feel totally ripped off? It's not a f**king album! ...This is so totally wrong. I really do f**king despair. Why is it so incredibly difficult to get anything done right? Please fix this now!"

ALICE IN CHAINS HEADING BACK TO THE STUDIO.

Grunge pioneers ALICE IN CHAINS are heading back to the studio to record their first new material for 13 years - and their first without late frontman LAYNE STAYLEY. The rockers reformed for live shows in 2006 with new singer William DuVall, but warned fans the prospect of recording without Stayley - who died of a drug overdose in 2002 - was too painful to contemplate. But a message on the band's website reveals they are now hard at work preparing for a new LP. They will hit the studio to record the disc in October (08).

LILY ALLEN has sparked fears for her well-being after declaring she "feels like killing herself" on her personal Facebook page. The singer worried friends after posting "Lily has had enough, feels like killing herself" on her private page on the social networking site at 4.30pm on Thursday (04Sep08), according to British newspaper the Daily Mail. The statement was subsequently removed and replaced with an entry that reportedly read, "Lily is dying inside" at 5.52pm that day. And Allen appeared to reference her recent clash with rocker Sir Elton John when she posted: "Was he upset? I'm worried now, was I mean?" at 1.31am on Friday (05Sep08).

The outspoken pair hit the headlines after sparking a war of words onstage as they co-hosted this year's (08) GQ Men Of The Year Awards in London on Tuesday (02Sep08). Fiery John complained about the amount of champagne Allen drank, and after she told him to "f**k off", he retorted: "I could still snort you under the table."

ELTON JOHN'S AWARDS ROW WITH LILY ALLEN WAS 'A JOKE'

LATEST: LILY ALLEN has laughed off her onstage row with SIR ELTON JOHN at a London awards show on Tuesday (02Sep08), insisting they were joking and are still friends. The pair made headlines by bickering throughout their gig as co-hosts of the GQ Men of the Year Awards. She told the music legend to "f**k off" on several occasions after John had made sneering remarks about her alcohol consumption on the night.

But the Smile singer insists the acid-tongued barbs between the pair were in good humour. She writes on her MySpace blog, "Elton John and I are still friends... Trying to make me out as being some rude little girl with a drink problem is just unfair. Elton and I exchanged jokes and there were no hard feelings at all, in fact neither of us gave it a second thought."

PETE DOHERTY DENIES OVERDOSE CLAIMS!

LATEST: PETE DOHERTY is adamant reports he recently suffered an overdose in Austria are untrue - because he struggled to find any drugs while in the country. The troubled Babyshambles frontman was said to have been revived by medics after collapsing from a drug overdose shortly before a gig in Graz, Austria last week. But the rocker insists the media stories are completely fabricated - because he couldn't locate any illegal substances. He tells MTV News,

"I know that was absolute rubbish. I was in Austria (but), I mean, between me and you... it would've been lovely to have enough stuff but there was nothing about. "To be honest it was a really clean week - and it was complete rubbish."

Meanwhile his forthcoming solo album is in jeopardy - because the troubled rocker can't secure the funding to record it. The Babyshambles frontman had originally planned to put out his debut solo LP this summer (08), but the 29-year-old has had to delay its release after running into financial difficulties. Obviously all the money has been spent on powder and rocks! And Doherty has had to sign up to play a string of live gigs in order to keep some money rolling in. Speaking backstage at a London gig on Friday (05Sep08), he tells MTV News,

"Unfortunately, the bailiffs (debt collectors) have been knocking quite a lot so I've got to do (shows) like, I've got to go back on in a minute and do the encore for things like this. "But that's what I'm doing really: writing and recording on my own. But I'm doing some stuff with Babyshambles as well."

JOHN 5 INJURED IN BIKE FALL!

MARILYN MANSON rocker JOHN 5 has been forced to scrap a string of guitar clinic shows after smashing his shoulder in a biking accident. The star was thrown from his mountain bike and has been left nursing a badly injured shoulder. In a statement to fans, he says, "I am sorry to all that were coming for the performance, but I will make it up and announce new dates soon.” A spokeswoman adds, "He is expected to heal and have a fast recovery with physical therapy to insure he does not lose his magic touch."

MICK JAGGER TO PLAY A LITTLE DEVIL?

MICK JAGGER is in talks to play an animated devil in a new film inspired by the ROLLING STONES' RUBY TUESDAY hit. Victoria Pearman, the rocker's partner at Jagged Films, is trying to persuade Jagger to add his voice to their next movie project. She says, "There's a character, sort of a devil, and there's some discussion about whether or not he will play that."

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE ATTRACT HUGE NUMBERS AT ANTI-WAR GIG.

Rockers RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE attracted a huge crowd as they headlined an anti-war concert in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday (27Aug08). In June (08), the politically motivated rockers announced they would stage gigs outside upcoming presidential conventions in August (08) and September (08) in order to disrupt the run-up to the election in November (08). And the band kept to their promise, playing a packed gig to almost 9,000 fans who were there to support the Iraq Veterans Against the War at Denver's Coliseum.

The group performed just a day before Barack Obama accepted the Democratic party's nomination as leader and official presidential candidate. Rage Against The Machine have vowed to perform at a similar event during the Republican Convention next month.

GILMOUR: 'FLOYD WERE RUBBISH'....

PINK FLOYD legend DAVE GILMOUR insists the band developed their own unique style - because they were not talented enough to play the blues. The guitarist revealed the rockers only made "spacey, atmospheric" music in the early 1960s because they were not musically accomplished enough to tackle trickier tunes. And it was down to a fluke that their style became popular and propelled them to superstardom. Gilmour says, "We were never the most proficient musicians. When the band started, Pink Floyd were unique in that they weren't great blues players. In fact, we never did become that musically accomplished. "And that's what pushes you to try other things."
