MTV STANDS BY TEEN DRAMA "SKINS."

MTV bosses have dismissed speculation they are set to pull controversial teen drama SKINS off-air following protests from a campaign group and the loss of a number of advertisers.
The U.S. adaptation of the hit British series premiered in America last week (17Jan11), but the scandalous storylines involving sex and drugs have angered heads of the Parents Television Council, who condemned the show and called for an official investigation.

The controversy has also led to a number of high profile advertisers pulling their promos from the programme's ad breaks, leading to speculation MTV bosses plan to scrap the show after just two episodes on-air. But network bosses are adamant they will continue to broadcast the series, despite the fall out. An MTV spokeswoman tells Reuters, "The show is not cancelled. The next episode is going ahead on Monday." A statement from the network adds, "MTV stands by the US adaptation of Skins and the vision of its creator, Bryan Elsley."

KELLY ROWLAND TO PERFORM IN MY COUNTRY OF NIGERIA AT MTV'S AFRICAN MUSIC AWARD.

Superstar Kelly Rowland, who is the ambassador of MTV’s staying Alive Foundation, will be in Abuja Nov. 22 to perform at the first ever MTV Africa Music Awards.

South Africa's, Cassette, and Nigeria's, Asa will be joining Rowland on stage at The Velodrome, Abuja for MTV's celebration of African music and artists.

Rowland, Cassette and Asa will join previously announced performers The Game, D'Banj, Kwaw Kese and Professor J and other artists (still to be announced).

Since Kelly is not much of a U.S resident these days, let's see.....what will she sing? "Survivor?"

DUFFY LEADS NOMINATIONS FOR MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS.

Welsh soul star DUFFY is leading the nominations for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards - she's up for three prizes including Album of the Year for ROCKFERRY. The singer will also compete for the New Act accolade and Most Addictive Track for her hit single Mercy.
She will compete against Britney Spears, Leona Lewis, Coldplay and Alicia Keys for the best album award, and go head-to-head with pop newcomer Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus in the New Act category.

Spears has landed a second nod for Act of 2008, for which she is nominated alongside Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, Coldplay and Lewis. Other nominees include Kanye West and Beyonce Knowles for Best Urban, and Metallica and Linkin' Park for the Rock Out award. The winners will be unveiled on 6 November (08), when the prizes are handed out in Liverpool, England.

DEATH SHOCKER: MTV TO KILL OFF TRL IN NOVEMBER 2008!

Not like it matters to us in Canada since we don't get that show here, I JUST HEARD MTV is set to kill-off the music video for good in November when Total Request Livecomes to an end after a 10 year run! Dave Sirulnick, executive producer of “TRL,” tells us that TRL will conclude in a two-hour special on a Saturday afternoon in November 2008.

Dave stressed that the show wasn’t ending for good, but felt now was the right time to give it a break after an unprecedented run on the cable music channel. For Canadian artists planning to make it big on TRL, better stick to MOD now. Much On Demand is Canada's TRL/106 and Park. It's just on Queen and Dundas. I watch TRL at my neighbors house on satellite every now and then on MTV USA.

KIDZ IN THE HALL VIDEO FEATURING ESTELLE PREMIERE'S TODAY ON MTV'S TRL.

Today Wednesday, September 10th, Kidz In The Hall’s second video off their critically acclaimed album, The In Crowd, will world premier on the biggest video network in the world. MTV’s popular countdown show, TRL, will give a “first look” to “Love Hangover,” the second single off Kidz In The Hall’s sophomore album, released on Major League/Duck Down Records. The song and video features rising superstar and UK songstress Estelle, who linked up with Naledge and Double 0 last year while recording the group’s album.

Earlier this year, Kidz In The Hall released their first single and video, “Drivin’ Down the Block,” which crept all the way up to #6 on TRL’s countown, breaking ground and leading the way for a generation of new, young, independent hip hop artists. The video was also in heavy rotation on MTV Jams and MTV2 and the group was part of MTV’s exclusive “Discover & Download” program. Both “Drivin Down The Block” and “Love Hangover” were directed by Ethan Lader. Currently the group is preparing for a Fall US tour after just completing Hip Hop’s biggest summer festival tour, Rock The Bells.

You will remember when they got into that scuffle at the Arizona club with Double O getting badly hurt. HipHossip wished him well when I presented the Best Live Urban award at the Toronto Independent Music Awards.

The Jonas brothers can have sex with who they want but Bristol Palin's boyfriend will never have sex again. He will be masturbating with a condom for a long time. These are some awful brand of British comedy that landed on MTV USA on the VMA's by British Host Russell Brand. He says he's famous in England.

He's now famous in the world too. He even asked everyone "in their right minds" to vote for OBAMA and called President Bush a "retarded cowboy!" MTV never even gets into politics but since MTVU student voting events, that's all changed!! Listen to Brand's horrific monologue below!!

CONGRATS! BRITNEY SPEARS IS BACK: CLEANS UP THE MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS!

I never hated her. Many did and never supported her during the terrible 2007 meltdown but I believed in Britney. She slowly moved up there and regained herself. Did you see how she and K-Fed hugged and kissed when she got the Video Of The Year award?

Brit snagged the Best Female video, Best Pop female and Video of the Year! She thanked God, her "beautiful" family and of course we the fans. Brit is the one to cover all the magazines this week. Now I regret not going to the VMA's and wasting my media pass. I could have been in the press room now talking to Britney! Hear two of her three acceptance speeches below. Congrats to her!







Ironically the video she made about the papparazzi who partially ruined her life won her all the awards and regained her status!

WEEZY DID AN ALL ROUND GOOD JOB!

L'il Wayne did a bad ass show with T-Pain starting with Leona Lewis and another one with Kid Rock. Weezy's "Lollipop" won for best hip-hop video. Something that surprised me was that he didn't say any tributes to his friend and producer who co-made the video, the late Static Major.
