50 CENT has beaten off competition from international superstars MADONNA and BEYONCE KNOWLES to top a chart of this year's biggest earning musical performers. The rapper and entrepreneur brought in an estimated $151 million from June 2007 to June 2008, according to U.S. magazine Forbes.

British rockers The Police came second on the money list; their reunion tour helped net the band $115.8 million. 50's rap rival Jay-Z came third, bagging $82.6 million , while his pop star wife Knowles was just behind with $80.5 million. And The Beatles proved they are still a big draw almost 40 years since splitting up - the Fab Four made $51.6 million, placing them fifth on the earnings list.

So why all that row with the baby mama all year long. Child support, eviction and charred house etc. Yawn Fiddy!

Rapper NELLY is adding property developer to his already packed resume, after launching a new project in his hometown of St Louis, Missouri. The superstar already owns Vokal clothing for men and Applebottoms for women, as well as a range of energy drinks - and now he is venturing into the hospitality industry.

He tells TheBoomBox.com, "This development company that I have back home, I’ve purchased a city block in downtown St. Louis. I have an new sports bar called Skybox." Rapper T.I clarifies his ongoing child support situation and I believe info was distorted to the public. He says........

"A lot of deceiving information has been reported regarding my recent child support proceeding. It is unfortunate that the media has been used to manipulate the circumstances and distort the facts.To clarify the recent reports, in addition to the $2000 per month I pay in cash to Lashon Dixon, the mother of my sons Domani and Messiah, I also pay for their private schooling, medical insurance, clothing, food, gifts, birthdays and extracurricular activities. Their extra-curricular activities have included football, basketball, baseball, acting lessons, summer camp, and any other activities that they express a desire to be involved in that will contribute to them leading balanced lives and developing into well rounded individuals.

I have also made an attempt to help Lashon with additional payments that have included a down payment to purchase her home, purchase of an automobile for her transportation and other financial obligations. These expenses are documented and are far in excess of the $2000 cash payment that is being paid direct to Lashon. She has chosen not to work and to live 100% from her child support receipts. This is the reason for her difficulties in making ends meet for herself."

THE TACTICAL UNIT???: Ottawa police say they were helping an Ontario Provincial Police guns task force when they raided an Ottawa rapper's home on Friday the 16th August 2008. Police stormed Belly's home in Greely, south of Ottawa, and found no illegal weapons. They did find three pellet guns. "It's crazy, you feel violated when this happens," Belly told CTV Ottawa. "If I was here, it would be different." A surveillance camera outside Belly's home captured the raid by tactical officers and the canine unit. The rap star says police caused about $40,000 damage during their search. Police have not said what information prompted their search. No charges will be laid.

This is the same thing that happened to Producer/Rapper Kamikaze in Toronto. Kama, it's time for the police brutality rally. Now we have Fresh I.E, Kamikaze and Belly all violated! No charges laid, nothing taken. Just like Kama told me, there are always kids around the studio but not on that day......but in Belly's video, a neighborhood kid was coming for an autograph! PIRATES LOOT CELEBRITY YACHT!!! DIDDY DOOMED FOR FLOATING VENUES!

JACK NICHOLSON, GIORGIO ARMANI and SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS will have to find a new party boat - after a band of pirates stormed a hot-spot celebrity yacht on Monday (25Aug08). According to reports published on Wednesday (27Aug08), a band of four masked men climbed aboard the luxury yacht - frequented by celebrities vacationing in the Mediterranean - while it was anchored off the French island of Corsica. The robbers led their attack via speedboat, jumping aboard the $36.7 million Tiara wielding handguns and rifles. They ordered guests to empty their pockets before making off with $183,180 in cash and a collection of jewellery and artwork.

The captain of a ship in the French Riviera tells British newspaper The Sun: "Passengers who charter yachts are very wealthy, so pirates could steal several hundred thousand pounds... in a few minutes." The yacht's owner, New York real-estate mogul Jonathan Leitersdorf, was not on board when the attack occurred.

BOUT TIME: SNOOP DOGG MOVES INTO FASHION.

Rap superstar SNOOP DOGG is following in the footsteps of SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS and JAY-Z, by launching his own clothing line. The first Rich & Infamous designs will be shown off at this week's Magic fashion trade show in Las Vegas. Snoop plans to promote the line by plugging it in his songs and on merchandise, and showing it off on his reality TV show Snoop Dogg's Father Hood. He even plans to stage fashion shows at gigs on his forthcoming world tour, reports Daily Variety.

RICH PRODUCER BEATZ NEARS $1 MILLION DEBT? US IRS TAX FOLKS WANTS THE HOUSE AND ALL!!

Music producer SWIZZ BEATZ has reportedly been ordered to pay back over $842,644 to the U.S. government after failing to follow-through on tax payments. According to celebrity website TMZ.com, the hip-hop heavyweight - real name Kasseem Dean - has had a tax lien placed against him and his estranged wife, Mashonda, by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Dean was named seventh in the annual list of the biggest earning hip-hop stars for 2008 in a poll released on Tuesday (19Aug08), which estimated his annual earnings at $17 million A spokesperson for the producer has not returned calls for comment.

HIP-HOP MOGUL JERMAINE DUPRI CLOSES RESTAURANT AND LEFT EMPLOYEES WITH BOUNCED CHECKS?

Jermaine Dupri’s Buckhead restaurant, Cafe Dupri, closed its doors for good last week. According to WSB-TV Atlanta, the restaurant’s employees were left without paychecks or jobs. Workers had complained for weeks about bounced checks and bank notices of insufficient funds.

Some employees came to work even after utilities were shut off recently. Jermaine Dupri’s mother, Tina Mauldin, told Channel 2 Actions News Atlanta the restaurant closing was a “business decision”. She also took a swipe at her former employees, saying maybe if the employees had worked harder, Cafe Dupri would still be open. Above is JD and his daughter Shaniah.

WILL SMITH IS THE TOP EARNER IN HOLLYWOOD!

WILL SMITH has been crowned the highest earning actor in Hollywood, with a fortune of $80 million (£40 million). The Hancock star came first in the Forbes ranking to find the best paid actor of last year (07). Cameron Diaz was Hollywood's highest earning actress with a fortune of $50 million (£25 million), with Keira Knightley and Jennifer Aniston in second and third place with $32 million (£16 million) and $27 million (£13.5 million) respectively.
Coming in behind Smith was Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp who got paid a whopping $72 million (£36 million).

The top five paid actors from June 07 to June 08 were rounded out by Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers who took home $55 million (£27.5 million) each and Leonardo DiCaprio who pulled in $45 million (£22.5 million).

LL COOL J SAYS HIS NEW ALBUM WILL BE HIS LAST ON THE DEF JAM LABEL.

Rapper LL COOL J has hinted his forthcoming album will not be his last release on Def Jam - despite previously voicing his unhappiness about the record label. Last year (07), the hip-hop star - real name James Todd Smith III - hit out at then-label president Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter, accusing the rap mogul of focusing more attention on the marketing and promotion of his own albums - also released on Def Jam - than other artists on the label's roster. LL Cool J then aligned himself with 50 Cent, appearing to be on the verge of signing with the In Da Club hitmaker's G-Unit Records.

But now the star, who is due to release his 13th and final Def Jam album, Exit 13, later this summer (08), admits he is reconsidering his future at the label. He says, "It's my last record on the contract, but that doesn't mean that our relationship is over." Jay-Z stepped down from his post as head of Def Jam at the start of the year (08) after deciding not to renew his contract. He was recently replaced by music executive Shakir Stewart. Earlier you recall LL was here to perform at the Ice cream festival in Toronto last weekend.

Rapper SHAWN 'JAY-Z' CARTER silenced critic NOEL GALLAGHER at the U.K.'s Glastonbury festival with his own version of the Oasis hit WONDERWALL. Rocker Gallagher criticised the hip-hop star when it was announced he would be headlining the annual music event, saying, "I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong." Freaking racist! But Carter hit back at criticism on Saturday (28Jun08) by taking to the stage with a guitar as the strains of the Oasis hit song played. He told the cheering crowds: "So they say you guys didn't want me here to be here tonight. "They said you guys weren't into hip-hop. Thanks for all the love here tonight. "This is a beautiful moment, I'm glad to share it with each and every one of you."

Jay-Z says being poor motivated him to succeed. The rapper - who is married to former Destiny's Child singer Beyonce Knowles - revealed his rise to stardom stems from a desire to escape from his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. He said: "Being broke is a great motivator. Home was like the cliche of rough. When I was nine I saw someone shot for the first time." Jay-Z, who is set to play at the Glastonbury music festival on Saturday (28.06.08), also revealed his taste in music, saying his favourite bands include British group Coldplay - whose new album 'Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends' recently topped the US album charts.

Jay-Z said: "My favourite music is heartfelt music, I don't believe in the separation of music. I listen to Coldplay, 50 Cent and Kanye West." Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has been a close friend of the rapper for many years and attended his recent New York wedding along with his wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

And Jay-Z, who harbours a secret love of gambling, enjoys being able to hit the poker and blackjack tables without being hassled by fans - so he refuses to reveal his favourite hangouts.

He tells London's Time Out magazine, "I'm a pretty big, almost professional, gambler. "I'm not gonna say any names because that'll mess it all up, but there're these little private clubs you can go to in the West End where you can hang out and gamble, and it's pretty cool."
