Best #Horror #Movie Marketing? CTV wants to hear from you!

Best horror movie marketing ever?

Coffee shop patrons got the scare of a lifetime when they were treated to a scary 'telekinetic' prank. And this was all to promote the new remake of 'Carrie.'

It's pretty cool, take a look: http://ow.ly/pBugR

And tell CTV, do you think the people's reactions were real? Or was the entire thing staged?

EMOTIONAL: VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO WHITNEY HOUSTON'S FINAL MOVIE "SPARKLE."

Whitney and Jordin Sparks. Photo: Sony Pictures

It's been more than 15 years since Whitney Houston starred in a big Hollywood movie – 1996'sThe Preacher's Wife – and while fans may be rejoicing about her return to the screen in the upcoming Sparkle, the happiest person of all seems to be the pop diva's costar, Jordin Sparks.

"She was so cool and very motherly toward me," says the former American Idol winner, 22, who marks her film debut in the remake of a 1976 movie that originally starred Lonette McKee and Irene Cara. "If I ever looked like I needed something, here she came saying 'Are you okay?' "

No less excited is Houston herself.

"Part of the fun of making this movie is definitely the costumes and the hairstyles," says the star, 48. "The movie is set in 1963, and we had a great wardrobe, hair and makeup person and I loved wearing the outfits."

The film, which chronicles the challenges faced by group of singing sisters once they hit it big, is due Aug. 10 and costars Derek Luke. Read the rest here

DO YOU THINK THE "TWILIGHT" STARS ARE LIKE THE BEATLES?

Taylor Lautner's co-star Robert Pattinson has compared himself and his Twilight co-stars to the Beatles - insisting the teenage hysteria around the movie series is similar to the frenzied music fans of the 1960s.
The British band attracted hordes of dedicated devotees, and the intense fervour around the group became known as Beatlemania.

Pattinson is adamant he has been subjected to the same kind of erratic behavior from the screaming fans who follow his every move. He tells JustJared.com, "I don’t know how the Beatles felt but I imagine it was close to this. Very few human beings will ever get to experience the love we feel at Twilight events.”

I asked Taylor Lautner that same question earlier this year and you know how humble he is and can guess what he told me.

Meanwhile, did you know that Lautner was bullied at school over his love for acting? The star has catapulted to fame playing Jacob in the vampire verses werewolves film franchise, but he admits life was difficult as a drama nerd. He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I was never extremely confident. Because I was an actor when I was in school there was a little bullying going on. Not physical bullying but people making fun of what I do. "I just had to tell myself, 'I can't let this get to me. This is what love to do and I'm going to continue to do it.'"

ETTA JAMES GAVE BEYONCE SOME KIND OF BOOST.

Playing R&B legend ETTA JAMES in new movie CADILLAC RECORDS gave BEYONCE the strength to be a "natural woman". The former Destiny's Child star admits her portrayal of the troubled singer in the film inspired her new look. She explains,

"She gave me a better understanding of who I am. Half of my new album is called I Am and on the cover I wore minimal make-up . It looks very natural, very vulnerable, very stripped down."
And Beyonce reveals James' spirit is now surging through everything she does:
"Playing Etta James gave me the confidence to be fearless and I felt like I could sing whatever I wanted and sing about things that I really cared about; not just something you could play on the radio or make a nice video, but something that had substance. "Etta James was one of the first African-American women to cross over on the radio and she made it possible for me to succeed."

I wish she won't say that! Etta James was a DRUG addict!

GEEZ! J-HUDSON BEAT UP THREE MEN?

Photo: Derek Blanks

Oscar winner JENNIFER HUDSON won a day off on the set of new movie THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES after beating up three men. The feisty Dreamgirls star spent eight hours filming a fight scene with three co-stars in the movie - and was left so battered and bruised she was ordered to take a rest day. Hudson explains, "I had to beat them up pretty bad. One guy kept trying to walk away and I'm like, 'They didn't call cut yet, where ya going?' "One of the guys was like, 'I didn't sign up for this. She's beating us down.

She is something else. We've taken down men quicker than we've taken down this one girl.' "That scene took eight hours to shoot over and over again. I could actually hit them for real but they couldn't hit me for real, although I got hit by accident and that made me mad, so I fought a little bit harder. "I even have scars on my head from the scene. I felt like I jumped out of the window and hit the ground the next morning. They gave me the day off and let me rest.
"My momma's not gonna be pleased seeing me get beat up by three men."

BEATLES LET IT BE DVD 'CANCELLED'

http://www.beatlesclubmanchester.com/NEWS%20PAUL%20BRITS.jpg

BEATLES legends SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and RINGO STARR have reportedly blocked the re-release of the notorious LET IT BE film. The documentary, originally intended to show the Fab Four at work in the studio, instead illustrated the extreme tensions between the musicians as the band was on the verge of breaking up. It famously included scenes of McCartney and George Harrison bickering over the latter's guitar-playing, and footage of an apparently disinterested John Lennon with his wife Yoko Ono. Although the film was shown in cinemas in the early 1970s, and released on VHS in the 1980s, it has been out of circulation for more than 20 years.

And now the two surviving Beatles have allegedly blocked plans for a DVD release. A source tells U.K. newspaper the Daily Express, "There has been talk of Let It Be finally being released but now there has been a change of heart. "The Beatles are still a massive global brand and it's felt it won't be helped if the public sees the darker side of the story. Neither Paul nor Ringo would feel comfortable publicising a film showing The Beatles getting on each other's nerves."

DIRECTOR GUY RITCHIE INSPIRED BY DRUGGIE ROCKER DOHERTY!

Filmmaker GUY RITCHIE has based a character in his new movie on troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY. Madonna's husband took inspiration from the Babyshambles frontman, whose shambolic lifestyle, drug addiction, court appearances, and love affair with supermodel Kate Moss have attracted acres of press coverage in the U.K. Ritchie's forthcoming film RocknRolla, due for release in September (08), has a character called Johnny Story, who hangs out in a crack den in London.

The director tells Britain's Empire magazine, "At the time I was writing it, Pete Doherty was everywhere. "I think what we all like is someone who fell and then stood up again. And that's probably the story with Pete Doherty. "There seems to be an implication that people want to see him jump (commit suicide). But at the same time there's a desire to see the likes of him being reborn."

Meanwhile Doherty is still heartbroken over his split from supermodel Kate Moss -- a year after they went their separate ways. The Babyshambles frontman dated Moss on and off for two years but their relationship ended for good last July. Also he is convinced he is a good role model for young people - despite his well-documented history with drugs. The Babyshambles frontman denies setting a bad example for his fans, claiming he spends time with aspiring musicians to help them develop their careers.

He tells Britain's Loaded magazine, "I can't see why people call me a bad influence. I meet a lot of kids who are into music. I spend as much time as I can with them. I listen to their demos and I'm encouraging. "No one's ever asked me for a drug dealer's number. It's music, music, music.
That's my influence."

MADONNA TO TRADE ACTING FOR DIRECTING.

MADONNA has vowed never to act again - (pls don't!) because she would prefer to establish herself in Hollywood as a filmmaker. The star has repeatedly tried her hand at acting since launching her singing career in the 1980s, playing lead roles in films such as Desperately Seeking Susan, Dick Tracy and Evita, for which she won a Best Actress Golden Globe in 1997. But since directing the upcoming comedy Filth and Drama, the 49-year-old insists she has found her calling. When asked if she still dreams of an acting career, she responds: "Absolutely not, because now I've tasted directing. It's like Eve and the apple, I have to have a second bite. If you're an actress, it's not your vision.

"The director tells the story, you are the chess piece that is moved around. That doesn't suit my personality." And the Holiday hitmaker is so fond of filmmaking, she insists she even prefers it to making music: "You have more time to tell a story. You have an hour and half or two to save the world."

MEL B REJECTED SEX AND THE CITY FOR HER MUSIC!

SPICE GIRLS star MELANIE BROWN turned down a role in SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE to concentrate on making her new record. The singer insists although she would have loved to have acted in the big screen version of the hit U.S. TV show - she didn't want to interrupt work on her forthcoming album. She tells British newspaper The People, "They asked me to do the film, but I decided not to. I wanted to bring my music out all at once." Boy, I thought she liked anything that had to do with sex!

Ashanti to ditch music for movies in Hollywood!

R&B star ASHANTI is considering ditching music for movies to be a full-time movie star. The multi-talented 27-year-old has already starred in Resident Evil, John Tucker Must Die and Coach Carter - and she reveals she is so hooked on Hollywood she wants to work behind the camera as well as in front of it. Ashanti says, "I'm always reading scripts. I'm even looking to get into some behind-the-scenes work. Maybe do some co-producing. It's all about taking chances. You can't be afraid to try something different."

Madonna's handbag auctioned for half a million dollars! Also set to headline Michael Moore film fest.

MADONNA's Chanel handbag sold for almost half a million dollars at a charity auction at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (22May08). The pop superstar handed over the black alligator-skin diamond bag she had taken to the amFar Cinema Against Aids benefit in the French resort, complete with most of its contents, including lip gloss "that actually touched my lips"; lip balm; a mirror and throat lozenges. This is ridiculous. Stars really have it good!

She removed her two cell phones, insisting, "I'm not going to give up my Blackberry and phone because that's too expensive for you." But it still sold to a mystery buyer for a staggering $471,000, proving more valuable than even a smooch with silver screen idol George Clooney - which sold for $300,000. Actress Sharon Stone was one of the night's biggest givers, handing over a $100,000 personal donation and then auctioning her own vintage Porsche 911 Targa for $810,00. The event raised more than $10 million for amfAR's life-saving Aids research programs.

Meanwhile, Documentary maker MICHAEL MOORE
has landed a big boost for his Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan - MADONNA's coming home for it.The pop superstar's I am Because We Are documentary, about Aids orphans in Malawi, will headline the alternative film festival in August (08). And the Material Girl will be there in person. Thrilled Moore says, "Madonna will present the film, watch it with the audience and conduct a question-and-answer session afterwards.

"It's a huge coup for the Film Festival, and for Traverse City." And the hard-hitting documentarian, who has taken the U.S. medical profession and President George W. Bush to task in his films, has nothing but praise for Madonna's new release, which recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France. He adds, "She spent the past couple of years filming what the people go through, and the efforts to help them. I saw the film about a month ago. It's a fantastic, powerful movie." Madonna produced and narrated the documentary after travelling to Malawi, where she met toddler David Banda. She and husband Guy Ritchie are adopting the child.
