Let's face it, Canadian hip-hop/urban music fans are always the forgotten ones. We watch BET too and we love all the shows especially 106 and Park, BET's Top 10 Live. It's a way to relax, watch our fave urban music stars visit the show, tell us what's going on in their lives and music career. Two days ago on October 5th 2010 we helped BET celebrate 10 years of 106 and Park but why can't we help them celebrate on a higher level? BET Co-Founder Apologizes for Stuttering YouTube Attack.

The billionaire co-founder of Black Entertainment Television has apologized for mocking the speech impediment of the Democratic candidate for governor at a campaign event in Virginia last month.

Sheila Johnson, who has long been a major donor to President Barack Obama and Gov. Timothy Kaine, stunned the state's political observers in July by endorsing Republican Bob McDonnell in the race for governor. Democrat Creigh Deeds is running to replace Kaine, who is barred by state law from running for a second consecutive term.

In a 32-second YouTube video, posted by Democratic blogger Ben Tribbett from a Sept. 25 McDonnell event, Johnson is seen telling a group of wealthy donors that Virginians needs a governor "who can really communicate, and Bob McDonnell can communicate."

Johnson then says, "The other people I talk to, especially his op-op-op-op-opponent, di-di-did this all through my interview with him."

Groans and muted laughter can then be heard from the group of wealthy donors.

"He could not articulate what needed to be done," Johnson continued. "So communication is hugely important."

In a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press on Monday, Johnson said she sought to highlight Deeds' inability to "clearly communicate effective solutions" on important issues.

"I shouldn't have done it in the manner in which I did and for that I apologize for any offense he, or others, may have taken," Johnson said. More at Foxnews.com

MARY J. BLIGE and TYLER PERRY will be honoured at the second annual BET Honours. The R&B singer and the filmmaker are just two of the stars set to be recognised at the event - they will be joined by Magic Johnson, dance pioneer Judith Jamison, style guru B. Smith and South Carolina Congressman James E. Clyburn next month (Jan09).

The awards, which will air on 9 February (09), are part of the festivities for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama - BET is also putting on its first inaugural ball which will air on the same day (20Jan09).

Congrats to them both! I may plan to cover that show.

R. KELLY REVEALS ALL IN BET SPECIAL!

R. KELLY opened up about his acquittal on child pornography charges in a U.S. TV special on Tuesday (16Sep08). The R&B star was cleared in June (08) of 14 charges, including videotaping himself having sex with a girl as young as 13 years old. He faced 15 years in prison if convicted. Kelly sat down with broadcaster and journalist Toure in Philadephia, Pennsylvania to discuss the case and the effect it had on his life and career as part of an interview with U.S. TV network BET.



We all know he did it but what took prosecutors six years to do their job when the victim is now an adult. Good for Kelly! Bad for society.

The 2008 BET awards started with a hot same old same old Usher performance. You know he is flawless. Prior to that, Flo-Rida, Alicia Keys and Soulja Boy all won pre award show awards outside. The red carpet was red with Rihanna's Cinderella yellow dress and L'il Mama with her L'il mama girl. Neyo sang his "Closer " song and even serenaded Rihanna in her lovely yellow dress sitting in the first row with Chris Brown who won the Best Male
R&B Artist.

Keyshia Cole blew off the roof with her hits first by wearing a country girl gown which changed into a white shorts set after being pulled off by a dancer, then L'il Kim joined her on stage and finished that "I don't want your man" song.

Alicia Keys who snagged the Best R&B female award again blew up the roof too only to surprise us by bringing out her favourite girl groups SWV, En Vogue and TLC one by one to sing with her. One little boo-boo, while she was hailing the "chasing waterfalls" song that TLC did, she cheered "let's sing it for the people." I cheered "let's sing it for Lisa." The late Lisa "Left Eye"Lopes of TLC of course who passed away years ago.

Ne-Yo did his thing as always. Dancing and singing sophisticated. Kanye West won the Best Male hip-hop artist and L'il Weezy was on the stage to help him accept it massaging him on the back while Kanye congratulated Weezy's one million platinum sales. My O my, BET CEO Debra Lee did one hell of a job this year. When T-Pain came on stage, his was one hell of a theatric show with dancers on stilts and clown plus Ludacris came out as well as Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and Flo-Rida. What a crazy collab!

The height of the evening was when that UGK video finally won the Best Video of the Year. Players Anthem lost last year to Kanye West who gave them the award anyway. Pimp C's wife came on stage with Big Boi and Bun B to accept the award.

Kanye West also made the award for Best collaboration with T-Pain who was nominated 5 times with other artists. T-Pain walked onto the stage in slow motion. It was so funny!

One sour part of the evening was the Best New Artist Dream who was a no show. Everyone was expecting this to be between Estelle and Soulja Boy. LL Cool J and Ashanti had to accept that one for Dream.

Look closer and it's really Ciara! We found that out on 50 Cent's website!

Chris Brown did some crazy choreographed moves with a female dancer which Rihanna was seen visibly happy about and was clapping. The whole thing ended with L'il Wayne singing Lollipop SO BAD! But that voice sells!!! Al Green got the lifetime achievement awards while Quincy Jones took the Humanitarian award. Rihanna performed her "Take a bow " song which was dull as it had no rythm. She sounded much better when she performed it here in Toronto where she performed it live from the first time.

A final thanks to Rapper MC Lyte with that BOLD voice in the control room. Remember, if you missed it, it will be repeated like crazy on other nights and the weekends.

BET does a voting ad campaign!

All this blackness stuff. All of a sudden, there's a black Presidential candidate and BET chooses to do a vote ad campaign even featuring rapper T.I and others in it. Don't even try sending me hate mail today Friday the 13th as it would seriously backfire on you. Nothing black is good today! Oh, last time I checked in the mirror, I was STILL BLACK! LOL!

TONIGHT ON BET: "Clifford Speaks" (Rapper T.I) talks about his legal WOES!

T.I. will sit down for an interview about recent legal woes and the prospect of incarceration with Black Entertainment Television’s Toure in the half-hour special “T.I. Speaks,” premiering Wednesday night TONIGHT at 7:30 on BET. Leave T.I alone! Please, he's already doing enough. Fiance's due with a baby, speaking in schools, still getting over Philant's death etc! For all you Canadians E-MAILERS ALWAYS ASKING, quit asking me and MESS WITH your Rogers hi-tech remote (they don't even have those in the U.S) BET is on 49!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ain't mad at cha....

This is my personal assessment of last night's show and does not reflect the opinion of Teletoon. Teletoon had the disclaimer above aired ever 10 minutes during the show. Good move!

First of all, I had to chase my 7yr old son KJ to bed but he ended up watching it anyway since I had parental guidance. This episode raised my eyebrows but at the end of the day, it is all about free speech. The Americans scream that daily but never adhere to it. When Aaron McGruder did this episode, his regular network Cartoon Network of Time Warner rejected this one due to lawsuit pressure from BET, but Cartoon Network has always denied that. Teletoon Canada is our cartoon channel and just like CN has Adult Swim, we have this adult portion too. The episode puts BET and its executives CEO Debra Lee and President Reginald Hudlin on full blast.

In the episode, Huey's hunger strike against BET is supported by Reverend Rollo Goodlove, voiced by guest star Cee-Lo. The Gnarls Barkley crooner also narrates the episode, in which BET head Deborah Leevil, a Dr. Evil type ruler, runs the network with nothing but ill will in mind. She kills an employee at the board table for a bad opinion. She even bows and kneels to a Viacom-like character like Sumner Redstone, Viacom's big boss. Viacom owns BET.

"Weggie Rudlin, my Harvard-educated President of Entertainment, tell me about the eeevil shows you have in development," the woman barks to her executive as she pets a hairless animal and places her pinky finger at the corner of her mouth.

Weggie Rudlin, a man who strongly resembles BET's President of Entertainment, Reginald Hudlin, stands before her meekly and says: "My Harvard education tells us that our goal is to take all the s***ty reality shows that MTV did five years ago and make them black… Next month we're going to have our first award show honoring video hoes, or as I like to call it, a hoe-wards show."

Boondocks is a cartoon about an angry point of view of two black kid brothers on everything. They live with their grandpa who they constantly argue with. Above are relevant screenshots of the controversial episode which has CNN, the Drudge Report, with BET and even MTV on blast. It was real fun and I was ashamed that CN banned it. The only thing I could see about the ban was when Huey, one of the kids went on CNN to protest BET. CN and CNN are both owned by Time Warner. That may pose a conflict of interest. There was even a Walmart employee, homeless people and illegal immigrants who said they were supporting BET employees treated like crap with no money by giving them the little they earn. Some BET employees were shown as homeless people living under bridges!

Huey's demand was that BET stop demeaning women on their music videos and pay their employees well, so the kid went on a hunger strike. Since some employees were portrayed as homeless, Walmart may not like their involvement in that either! That cartoon was perfectly safe in Canada! In the end, they all become friends and their pictures were all featured on Matt Drudge's "Drudge Report." It is too early to tell if BET will try to kill free speech by attempting any legal action on Teletoon. LET'S HOPE NOT!
