YAWN: ALICIA KEYS DENIES PLANS TO RETIRE--WHO CARES?

ALICIA KEYS has denied she plans to retire at 30 - insisting she will continue to make music, despite reaching the milestone age next year (11). The No One hitmaker, who took a hiatus in 2006, previously admitted she'd like to hang up the mic by the time she turns 30, according to reports . But Keys, who celebrates her 29th birthday on Monday (25Jan10), is adamant she has a lot more to give before she considers quitting the music industry altogether.

She tells British TV host Jonathan Ross, "I was just saying that I would like the option to be able to retire by 30. I feel very blessed... but I definitely have so much more to do. I have so many things that I want to do, so many more things I want to get involved in, important things I want to do... I have to perform, I love it so much."

Rockers KINGS OF LEON have blasted rumours they've switched labels, insisting they have a "great relationship" with Columbia Records bosses. Reports on Friday (22Jan10) suggested the Use Somebody hitmakers had walked away from their deal with Columbia to sign a new deal with Warner Brothers, which would have handed them more control over their productions, and a bigger slice of profits.

But the band has released a statement that reads, "Kings of Leon have always had and continue to have a great relationship with their label (Columbia)."

FUGEES THINKING OF REUNITING FOR HAITI.

Rapper Pras is considering reuniting the Fugees for a special benefit concert to raise money for earthquake-devastated Haiti.

The star - who has Haitian roots - previously poured scorn on the chances of the Killing Me Softly hitmakers getting back together, insisting the group was "straight dead".

But he's hoping to convince ex-bandmates Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill to put aside their differences for the one-off show in aid of those affected by the massive tremor.

He says, "That's the only reason I would think about doing anything on that level."

Pras has also criticised the government officials in the poverty-stricken country for failing to take precautions before the disaster struck.

He tells Yo! Raps, "There's no communication down there. My mother told me this morning that she still has her mother's brothers and sister, who I've never met, who are still down in Haiti.

"This is definitely the worst and that's why the donations are cool, the relief aid is immediate short term, but the nation's government has to be held accountable for not using the hundreds of millions it has received in aid over the years to build up the poor infrastructure and crumbling hospitals to treat the many wounded and gravely injured."

BIZZARE MELTDOWN: SUSAN BOYLE SINGING TO A MOP AT AIRPORT AND STARTS CURSING AIRPORT STAFF!

Susan Boyle sparked complaints from travellers on Tuesday after she reportedly began singing into a mop in a bizarre scene at London's Heathrow Airport.

The Scottish singing sensation was said to have stunned travellers by dancing and belting out songs into a mop head in a first-class lounge, while awaiting a British Airways (BA) flight to Chicago, Illinois to film a segment on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Airline crew later asked the star to quiet down after she began shouting obscenities, according to Britain's The Sun. More here....

R.I.P: TEDDY PENDERGRASS DEAD AT 59.

Teddy Pendergrass, who became R&B's reigning sex symbol in the 1970s and '80s with his forceful, masculine voice and passionate love ballads and later became an inspirational figure after suffering a devastating car accident that left him paralyzed, died Wednesday at age 59.

The singer's son, Teddy Pendergrass II, said his father died at a hospital in suburban Philadelphia. The singer underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago and had "a difficult recovery," his son said.

"To all his fans who loved his music, thank you," his son said. "He will live on through his music."

Pendergrass suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed from the waist down in the 1982 car accident. He spent six months in a hospital but returned to recording the next year with the album "Love Language."

He returned to the stage at the Live Aid concert in 1985, performing from his wheelchair.

Pendergrass later founded the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, an organization whose mission is to encourage and help people with spinal cord injuries achieve their maximum potential in education, employment, housing, productivity and independence, according to its Web site.

Pendergrass, who was born in Philadelphia on March 26, 1950, gained popularity first as a member of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.

In 1971, the group signed a record deal with the legendary writer/producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The group released it first single, "I Miss You," in 1972 and then released "If You Don't Know Me by Now," which was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Pendergrass quit the group in 1975 and embarked on a solo career in 1976. It was his solo hits that brought him his greatest fame. With songs such as "Love T.K.O.," "Close the Door" and "I Don't Love You Anymore," he came to define a new era of black male singers with his powerful, aggressive vocals that spoke to virility, not vulnerability.

His lyrics were never coarse, as those of later male R&B stars would be, but they had a sensual nature that bordered on erotic without being explicit.

Crooner Michael Buble is set to race ex-girlfriend Emily Blunt up the aisle after asking his girlfriend Luisana Lopilato to marry him. The 34-year-old singer reportedly proposed to the Argentine actress/singer, 22, over the holidays and she jumped at the chance to become his wife, according to America's Star magazine.

This is Lopilato's third engagement - she was previously engaged to actor Mariano Martínez and tennis star Juan Monaco. Buble ended his three-year romance with actress Blunt in July 2008. She announced her engagement to actor John Krasinski in August (09).

WILL KELLY BE A JUDGE ON SIMON'S TALENT SHOW?

Former Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland is eyeing a role on Simon Cowell's talent show The X Factor when he takes the program to the States next year (11). Cowell announced on Monday (11Jan10) that he is leaving hit series American Idol when his contract expires at the end of the ninth season, which begins on Tuesday night (12Jan10). He also confirmed he now plans to concentrate on bringing his hit British talent show The X Factor to America in 2011 - and Rowland is keen to land a role on the judging panel alongside Cowell.

She says, "The X Factor is an amazing show and Simon knows that all he has to do is call me. I love Simon because he's so honest. When I watch it, everything he says I agree with. "If you're going to do something, you have to do it right. So when we see an upcoming artist, you either see potential or you don't see anything at all. It's important to be completely open and honest with them."

TONI BRAXTON ALMOST QUIT MUSIC. I THOUGHT SHE DID!!

R&B star Toni Braxton almost turned her back on the music industry and quit singing for good after enduring a difficult 2008 blighted by health problems. The Unbreak My Heart singer was hospitalized in April 2008 after experiencing complications relating to her ongoing heart issue microvascular angina - a small vessel disease. Her illness forced the cancellation of the final months of her Las Vegas residency at the Flamingo Hotel and Braxton admits she came close to hanging up her microphone forever.

But she struggled to stay away from music and signed a new record deal with Atlantic Records at the end of the year (08). Braxton is set to release her sixth studio album next month (Feb10) and she confesses she's nervous about the prospect of performing live once more. She says, "I'm a little nervous because it's been a while since I've been singing, but I enjoy performing so much that I had to do it. "I tried to pull a Jay-Z and said I'm gonna retire, he couldn't do it either, so it's in my DNA, I had to come out and perform." Hip-hop superstar Jay-Z announced his plans to quit rapping in 2002, but made a successful comeback in 2006 with the release of Kingdom Come.

J-LO SAYS SHE WILL BE PERFORMING AT 71 YEARS OLD!

Superstar Jennifer Lopez has no plans to step out of the limelight when she hits retirement age - insisting she'll still be singing and dancing in her seventies. But the star is ready to get back to work - and the 40 year old insists she'll be in showbusiness for the next 30 years.

SFTC: THE LATEST: EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT LLOYD BANK'S ARREST IN BRANTFORD, ON.

Rapper Lloyd Banks (real name: Christopher Lloyd) performed at Club NV in Brantford, Ontario, on Friday. A dispute later ensued at a local hotel over his fee. All four men were charged with forceful confinement, aggravated assault and robbery. They made a video court appearance on Sunday afternoon and were due to reappear in early this week.

BEYONCE TO TAKE "MUSICNITY" LEAVE OFF MUSIC.

As I told some of you my Facebook friends last week, Beyonce is taking a six-month break from music so she can "recharge her batteries" and "just live life." It's now official. The Crazy In Love hitmaker will complete her 11-month world tour in Trinidad and Tobago next month (Feb10) and she's revealed she won't go back to work again until mid-2010.

She tells USA Today, "It's definitely time to take a break, to recharge my batteries. I'd like to take about six months and not go into the studio. I need to just live life, to be inspired by things again. I'm going to do random things. I want to go to restaurants, maybe take a class and see some movies and Broadway shows."

But Beyonce admits she will struggle to stay away from the studio: "It will be the hardest thing in the world for me to make myself not do an album and shoot a video and turn it in and say, 'I'm ready!' I already have all these melodies and ideas in my head. I have to tell myself, 'Sit down! Sit down'."

A representative for Taylor Lautner has blasted internet speculation the Twilight hunk died after an alleged overdose. Reports suggesting the 17-year-old star had died began circulating widely on Monday (11Jan10) after it was reported on a number of internet blogs and by users on social-networking site Twitter.com.

The sick rumors alleged Lautner died at a Hollywood party after accidentally overdosing on cocaine. But a spokesperson for Twilight film studio Summit Entertainment has moved quickly to confirm Lautner is still alive, insisting, "This is a hoax."

CHRISTINA HAS A NEW YEAR RESOLUTION!!

Christina Aguilera's New Year's resolution isn't new at all.

"To continue having the best life ever" is her resolution for 2010, she said while hosting a New Year's party at Tao Las Vegas Thursday. "I paved the way for the work this year [2009]."

Her 2010 is shaping up to be extremely active, with a new album on the way and her movie ("Burlesque"), costarring Cher, set to be released. The two of them will also be presenters at the Golden Globes on January 17.

"The album is done, the movie I'm [still] filming," she said. "Doing film is a whole different animal. ... The schedule is grueling, but it's been really amazing and an incredible learning experience."

Of all the moments in 2009, the one that most sticks out, she noted, was seeing son Max, who turns 2 January 12, celebrate Christmas -- which she considers the highlight of the year.

"That was the best memory, his face and seeing his everything come to life with Santa," she says. "It was really amazing."

RAP PRODUCER SHAWTY REDD ARRESTED FOR MURDER!!

Music producer Demetrius Lee Stewart, known as Shawty Redd, is being held in a suburban Atlanta jail on a murder charge.

Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton says Stewart was arrested Friday morning.

Stewart is accused of shooting 35-year-old Damon A. Martin of Detroit in an argument at Stewart's home in Hampton, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.

The 28-year-old Stewart is charged with murder and was being held without bond in the Henry County jail Saturday. His first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 12. Police didn't know whether Stewart has a lawyer.

Stewart has worked with Young Jeezy, Snoop Dogg and other major artists.
