Why Nnamdi Kanu's case was postponed to June 20th #Biafra

The lawyer of pro-Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu has told Newsweek that the Nigerian government has no witnesses to bring against his client as Kanu’s counsel seeks to overturn a ruling that witnesses in the trial could be anonymized.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is facing six counts of treasonable felony — that carries a maximum life sentence in Nigeria — but denies the charges. A British-Nigerian dual national, Kanu, who is also the director of underground station Radio Biafra, was arrested in Lagos in October 2015 and has been held in detention since then. 

The Federal High Court in the Nigerian capital Abuja ruled on March 7 that witnesses in the case, which has garnered significant attention in Nigeria, should be allowed to testify from behind a screen in order to protect their identities. The decision came despite a previous ruling by Judge John Tsoho on February 19 that witnesses could not wear masks while testifying.

Kate Middleton and Prince William reportedly hid the name of a painting from President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, during their visit to Kensington Palace on Friday, April 22. The Sun reports that the painting, which was selected by Middleton from the royal collection, has a plaque on it which bears the piece’s alternative name. 

According to the report, the Duchess, 34, and William, 33, had the nameplate removed from the piece, and placed a potted plant in front of the painting to hide where the plaque had been.According to reports, the painting in question is by Dutch artist Aelbert Cuyp and is titled “A Page With Two Horses.” The landscape piece from 1660 is also known as “The Negro Page,” and features a black servant boy with two steeds.

Late Singer Prince has NO WILL as sister files documents protecting estate.

TMZ reports that the late singer Prince did NOT have a will and that he did not trust so many people working around his estate. Now his sister Tyka Nelson has filed legal documents protecting his estate.

“Prince was a disaster when it came to finances and his business affairs, and many of the people who worked with him say ignoring their advice to make a will is just a small piece of a chaotic puzzle.

We’re told in the 5 years leading up to Prince’s death, it was virtually impossible to get his signature on any legal document. Sources who worked with Prince tell us, he felt “screwed over” by people who had him sign deals in his younger years, and that made him “paranoid” to sign anything.

Prince was so distrusting … he jumped from lawyer to lawyer almost every year, and sometimes more often. One professional who worked with the singer tells us, Prince called him out of the blue one day and said he wanted to hire him. The professional asked Prince for his business files, and the answer was, “I don’t know, they’re out there somewhere.” The professional never got the files.

We’re told although Prince hired and fired a slew of professionals, his most trusted advisers were “beautiful, 20-something women, all models with no experience in anything.” It caused chaos in his life … especially in the financial department.”

Late WWE Wrestling legend Chyna's brain will be donated to Science #HNNMemorial

Chyna the WWE female wrestling legend will have her brain donated to science and said to be studied by Dr Omalu a Nigerian doctor who studies chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in many athletes and then forcing the NFL to acknowledge it as a problem. He was the one Will Smith portrayed in the movie "Concussion". 

Chyna was found dead last week of a yet to be disclosed ailment. Close sources said it could be an overdose. Meanwhile the impact of wrestling force is one thing Omalu will be looking at. His office has not confirmed it yet.

Prominent Dutch Journalist Ebru Umar detained in Turkey after criticizing Erdogan

ISTANBUL/AMSTERDAM - A prominent Dutch journalist has been detained by Turkish police, a Dutch official said on Sunday, a week after she wrote a column published in the Netherlands in which she criticized President Tayyip Erdogan for his clampdown on dissent. Erdogan is known for his intolerance of criticism and his readiness to take legal action over perceived slurs. 

At his behest, prosecutors in Germany are pursuing a comedian for mocking him. Critics say Erdogan is using the law to stifle dissent.

Columnist Ebru Umar, who is of Turkish descent and an outspoken critic of Erdogan, was detained by police overnight in Turkey where she was on holiday.

Beyonce's new album-film Lemonade pays tribute to African American women, Black Lives Matter #HNNMusic

Pop superstar Beyonce has paid a bold tribute to the perseverance of African American women in her newly released, musically diverse album and film, Lemonade. Lemonade was advertised only as a special on cable network HBO but, in a move anticipated by her passionate fan base, she released an album by the same name in the middle of the broadcast.

The "visual-album" marks the second straight work in which the 34-year-old pop queen has experimented with merging formats — which could also include social media, where Lemonade quickly became a top trending topic.

The film, crafted through the album's songs and verse from the Somali-British poet Warsan Shire against a Southern Gothic backdrop, follows Beyonce's emotional journey as she tackles infidelity but also the larger experience of African American women.

Saturday Night Live devotes show to @Prince while he was also cremated privately #HNNmemorial

Last night SNL devoted the show to the late singer. 
SNL alum Jimmy Fallon of "The Tonight Show" hosted Saturday's episode, which featured clips of Prince performing on the comedy show over the past four decades and skits with former cast member Fred Armisen portraying the artist.

The show also included an eight-minute medley Prince performed during a 2014 show and a surprise performance during a party thrown after the show's 40th anniversary special last year.

The 57-year-old Prince died Thursday at his Paisley Park compound in suburban Minneapolis. An autopsy was done Friday but no cause has been announced. He was cremated in a private ceremony

L.A REID: prince was good at everything he did #HNNMemorial

Music Executive L.A. Reid was luckier than most: he got to work directly with Prince, who passed away Thursday at the age of 57. But as Reid told TODAY Friday, while working with the music legend, he sometimes had a hard time getting down to business — because he was also an awe-struck fan. "I've always said it, I believe it: [He was] the greatest at everything. Playing, writing, composing, fashion, everything," Reid said. "[He had] the masculinity of Teddy Pendergrass, but he could take your girl [while] wearing high heels."

That ability to mix musical styles with fashion statements made him unique, but there was more to Prince than purple outfits and hot licks. As Reid noted, on his early albums, Prince often played every instrument.

"That's the most difficult thing," he said. "That means you're playing them one at a time. So that means he'll put his drum track down first, and he's playing an entire song while he's hearing it in his head, then come back and lay the bass, then come back and lay the piano, and then lay the guitars... It's impossible. No one can do this."

The Gasthaus Goldener Löwe — or "Golden Lion" — triggered online anger after it posted a "birthday meal offer" valid only on Wednesday, the 127th anniversary of the Fuhrer's birth.

The traditional eatery, in the state of Thuringia, offered schnitzel and burgers for the price of 8.88 euros ($10) — an apparent reference to the number "88" which is code among neo-Nazis for the publicly-banned "Heil Hitler" salute.

Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, in the Austrian town of Braunau am Inn.

The discount, posted on the restaurant's Facebook page, came as Germany battles a rise in right-wing violence amid a historic influx of refugees across Europe.

Britain has issued new advice to gay tourists about travel to North Carolina and Mississippi, states that have recently passed laws deemed as discriminatory.

"The U.S, is an extremely diverse society and attitudes towards [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] people differ hugely across the country," according to the statement posted on the U.K.'s Foreign Office website earlier this week. "LGBT travelers may be affected by legislation passed recently in the states of North Carolina and Mississippi."

Watch these Canadian Mounties (Federal Police) parody Drake in a road safety video #HNNGov

That’s the message in a new video released by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia this week.

The safety video is called "Cop Light Bling" and parodies Canadian rapper Drake’s "Hotline Bling." A group of RCMP officers mimic Drake’s awkward dance moves as Constable Mark Skinner sings about the province’s Move Over law.

The six-year-old law makes it an offense to drive faster than 60 km/hour or the posted speed limit when passing a stopped emergency vehicle with its lights flashing. Motorists also must change to the lane farthest from the stopped emergency vehicle, if that lane is free and it is safe to do so. (That's the "move over" part.) But the rule apparently hasn't reached everyone.

“If you get a bunch of Mounties out acting like goof balls, singing and dancing and making a ridiculous video, it actually helps us get the message across,” explains Cpl. Jennifer Clarke. “The response has been overwhelming.”

The video has become a YouTube hit, with nearly half a million views so far.

The late singer's first film will play in 87 of AMC's locations beginning Saturday.

Prince's first film, 1984’s quasi-autobiographical Purple Rain, will screen at AMC Theatres throughout the country as a tribute to the iconic singer who died Thursday.

The rock musical, in which Prince starred, with play in 87 of AMC's locations on Saturday, April 23 through Thursday, April 28.

Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye says he'll die for Senate President Saraki #HNNGov

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye has vowed to die for Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Sahara Reporters reports that Senator Melaye took to social-media to pledge allegiance to Saraki who undergoing trial for false declaration of assets.

The self-styled anti-corruption activist took to Facebook on Friday, April 22 saying that despite the allegations of corruption hanging on Saraki, the Senate President must remain in office for four years.

Melaye posted the message alongside a photo of himself and Saraki, he said: “My brother and friend Sen. Bukola Saraki, if you have 1 trillion supporters, I’m one. If you have one billion, I’m one. WWE Legend Chyna found DEAD of a possible overdose.

TMZ reports that officers were on the scene late Wednesday investigating the death as a possible overdose -- due mainly to her history with drugs. Prescription bottles were found in the home, but there were no illegal drugs ... according to our sources.

Cops say there are no signs of foul play.

Chyna was 46 years old.

A statement was posted to Chyna's official Twitter account confirming the death ... saying, "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero."

"She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

Laurer's manager first confirmed the death to ProWrestlingSheet.com.

She posted a video to her YouTube page earlier this week -- she looked like she was struggling.

Fulani Herdsmen attack Ibadan farm surburb #Nigeria

As controversy to find grazing reserves for Fulani herdsmen across the country continues, some hoodlums, including herdsmen, on Tuesday night, invaded a farm belonging to a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Mr. Ayodele Adigun and forced settlers in the place to flee their residence. According to sources, the invaders stormed the farm settlement at Lagun, in Lagelu Local Government area of the state around 9pm with dangerous weapons.

According to eyewitnesses, the intruders were not only Fulani herdsmen as some of them reportedly spoke in pidgin English, Fulani and Yoruba.

Vanguard learned that the suspects numbering about 20 were armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.

Two of the residents, Haruna Usman and Olanipekun Ogunkolade said the hoodlums had two sophisticated guns each while robbing them of their valuables. They said items such as phones, money, shoes and foodstuffs were carted away by the intruders.

One of the victims, Mr Jimmy Adedokun who sustained gunshot injuries on his hands and legs was admitted at a hospital in Iwo, Osun State.

Narrating the attack, Ogunkolade said “when they arrived at 9pm yesterday night (Tuesday), they ransacked everywhere and shot Jimmy after dispossessing him of his weapons. They took garri from us, and drank it. One of us just prepared a fish soup and eba but the invaders ate everything.”

Another Igbo group writes Buhari on the Abia Shallow Grave. Did IPOB kill Fulani herdsmen?

The Igbo-Intelligentsia Forum, a professional and advocacy Igbo group, has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari expressing strong concerns over the recent statement of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) that it discovered a mass grave in Abia State and that it has identified five of the bodies as Fulani.

The DSS also went ahead to say that the Fulani bodies were corpses of those purportedly murdered by members of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), a claim which the Forum described as reckless and shameful propaganda.

The Forum in the letter signed by Hon Joe Ikunna (Coordinator) and Dr Katch Ononuju (Secretary of Publicity Sub-Committee) went ahead to debunk such claims saying “that the five bodies found in a shallow grave in a bush in Uturu town were actually kidnap victims and that the unfortunate incident has no ethnic coloration whatsoever”. It came to this conclusion after an on-the-spot assessment carried out by the Abia and Imo States governments.

The Forum also went ahead to declare that “We are alarmed by these allegations as we do not condone violence of any sort by or against any person or group of persons. Our history as Igbo shows that we have lived peacefully with people of different ethnicity for generations”. It further stated that “The DSS news statement is tendentious. It is un-nerving for those serving in our security services to turn around and stoke a conflagration with capacity to cause ethnic massacre of a segment of the country namely, the Igbo nation”.

It wondered why the DSS is so pre-occupied with the Igbo when no action has been taken on arms bearing Fulani herdsmen who are widely known to visit mayhem on their host communities without provocation.

Consequently, the Forum called on president Muhammadu Buhari to set up a Judicial Commission of Enquiry to investigate the unfortunate statement by the DSS, the spread of Fulani herdsmen clashes with agrarian communities and demanded that the National Security Adviser and the DG of DSS be sanctioned accordingly while a public apology be tendered to the Igbo for the heist statement targeted at them and work towards the immediate disarming of all militia groups in the country including the Fulani herdsmen.

It concluded its letter by advising the president not to allow the business interests of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), a trade association with membership in the civil service, politics and other Fulani investors clash against and undermine national security & corporate well-being of Nigeria.

Beyoncé's mysterious Lemonade special will now be available for free upon its television debut. HBO and Cinemax will be offering a free preview weekend from Friday, April 22nd through Monday, April 25th in anticipation of the exclusive world premiere. No further details have been provided, leaving room for rumors of an album given the hour-long Saturday night timeframe. She has been subtly hinting at Lemonade with her Instagram posts for months, as revealed by the Fader, and her tour is due to begin next Wednesday in Miami.
