Turkey's coup plot looks like something out of a movie--Gulen #HNNPolitics

After arresting so many troops accused of being cup plotters, Turkey has finally released hundreds of soldiers. Hundreds of soldiers detained in the fallout of the July 15 coup attempt have been released, Turkish state media reported.

As many as 758 of the 10,012 soldiers held after that failed power grab were freed Saturday on the recommendation of a judge in Istanbul after the soldiers provided testimony on their involvement in the execution of the plot to oust President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The judge called the detention of the soldiers, including military students, unnecessary.
Suspects can be detained for up to 30 days without charge under a new presidential decree issued in the wake of the foiled revolution. The directive also allows the government to listen in on all conversations suspects have with their lawyers. A state of emergency has also been sanctioned.

All the fuss over DNC speaker Khzir Khan not letting his wife speak #HNNPolitics

The Muslim man that accused Donald Trump of lacking empathy said Trump had a "black soul." I wished he called that "dark soul." With all Khizr Khan's ranting on the DNC stage bringing out his copy of the constitution, Khan told CNN's Jim Acosta on "State of the Union" that he hopes Trump's family will "teach him some empathy."

"He is a black soul, and this is totally unfit for the leadership of this country," Khan said. "The love and affection that we have received affirms that our grief -- that our experience in this country has been correct and positive. The world is receiving us like we have never seen. They have seen the blackness of his character, of his soul."

Is GAY Nigerian personality DATING Cailtyn Jenner? #HNNGayvoices

Caitlyn and Bisi Alimi
Mediatakeout reported that Caitlyn Jenner was seen stepping out in LONDON for dinner with friends. Caitlyn was seen heading to Les Ambassadeurs Casino and Restaurant with a MALE COMPANION. She appeared to be on a date. Well I recognize that male. It's Nigerian gay rights activist Bisi Alimi. Alimi has been a fierce outspoken character against Nigeria's anti-gay law. They may simply be friends.

So it does appears the whole family are dating black people. When you go black, you never go back as they say. Kourtney is dating Quincy Combs, Kendall is dating A$AP Rocky, Kris is dating Corey Gamble, Khloe is dating Trey Songz, Kylie is dating Tyga and Kim is married to Kanye.

Drake's dad Dennis Graham stars in a video named after him #HNNMusic

Drakes dad

Drake’s Dad is having a moment – literally.
Dennis Graham – the father of Toronto rapper Drake – co-stars in the Arkells’ new video called – wait for it – Drake’s Dad.

The inspired single, off the rockers’ new album, Morning Report out Aug. 5, was written after Arkells frontman Max Kerman met Graham in a Memphis bar on Beale Street last summer. Kerman was part of a bachelor’s road trip of 16 friends through the American south.

“We listened to a lot of Drake on the way down,” said Kerman down the line from Lollapalooza in Chicago on Thursday before the band’s performing slot.

“And our one friend Adam, who really knows a lot about Drake culture, he spotted Dennis from across the bar. He was like, ‘Holy s---! There’s Drake’s dad right now!’ We moseyed on over. We took a photo. He’s just very nice. He’s like a very easy going, friendly dude.” Dennis is a great man I've met many times. His brothers are also musicians.

Beyonce set to create her own TV network #HNNmedia

Beyonce and Blue Ivy in Paris

Beyonce is reportedly set to follow in Oprah's footsteps with her own TV network.

The Lemonade star , who has ventured into music and fashion on top of her charitable efforts and incredible music career, is now setting up her own TV channel, reports The Sun.

Beyonce's empire is reportedly expanding with her management company Parkwood and it's likely to launch within the next ten years, it has been claimed. But don't expect Beyonce to be hosting her own talk show and giving out life-changing gifts to viewers like Oprah, instead it has been claimed that the Single Ladies star is planning something educational and will likely include documentaries about African and American history.

“She intends to create her own TV network just like Oprah,” an insider told the newspaper.

Don't you like this picture of Beyonce and Blue in similar outfits that makes them look like one great big Arizona Green tea can. lolz.

Why Police aren't often convicted for use of LETHAL FORCE #HNNCrime

Baltimore prosecutors dropped all charges against the officers implicated in the death of Freddie Gray — an outcome many legal experts argue is typical in a justice system designed to insulate police actions resulting in death.
Gray, a 25-year-old African American man, sustained fatal neck injuries in the back of a police van last year and his death while in cop custody sparked riots in Baltimore and a national re-examination of fatal interactions between law enforcement and the minority communities they serve. Although the officers charged in Gray's death did not use lethal force — most police-related deaths result from police shootings — the decisions behind these actions are seldom questioned and officers are rarely charged let alone convicted. "The legal system doesn't like second guessing police officers because they know the job is hard and violent and they have to keep bad guys off the streets," said Bowling Green State University criminologist Philip Stinson.
According to data by Stinson, who studies officer arrests, from 2005 to 2014, only 48 on-duty officers have been charged for murder or manslaughter for the use of lethal force.
A small number compared to the thousands of officers who have shot and killed someone, Stinson said.

Toronto is set to become home to approximately 100 dogs that were saved from certain, brutal deaths at this year’s infamous Yulin dog eating festival in China.

“We’re working with multiple companies right now to try and find a reasonable price to fly those dogs over,” Rebecca Aldworth, executive director at Humane Society International (HSI) Canada told the Toronto Sun. “This is a wonderful ending for these dogs if we can bring them to Canada.”

The plan is to have 100 dogs come to Toronto in September, Aldworth said, adding an adoption process will happen in the fall.

HSI and its partners have saved approximately 174 dogs and some cats from being butchered, who are all now safe in a facility in northeast China.

Interim DNC chair to impose tougher standards for staff after email leaks
Provided by the Hill

Interim chair of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile said she would impose tougher standards on staff going forward after email leaks showed some party leaders plotted to undermine the insurgent campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Specifically, she expressed disgust with an email from DNC CFO Brad Marshall in which outlined a plan to question Sanders's religion.

"When I read Brad's email, and I've known Brad now for 20 years, I called him, and I said 'Brad, that was wrong. That's inappropriate.' I apologized to the Sanders people immediately on Saturday morning," Brazile said in aninterview with Katie Couric Thursday.

O well, I guess that ends Donna's job at CNN as an analyst for now as that will be a conflict of interest.

Meet the BIG NAME Republicans voting for Hillary Clinton #HNNpolitics

This combination of file photos shows Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (L) on June 15, 2016, and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on June 13, 2016.
AFP/Getty
At Thursday's session of the Democratic National Convention, the party rolled out a number of Republicans who are supporting Hillary Clinton. Among them was Doug Elmets, a former Reagan administration official whom we included recently on a list of big-name GOP officials, donors and thought leaders who support Clinton. Below is the list.

Richard Armitage, Henry Paulson, Brent Scowcroft. Three big-name former George W. Bush administration officials in the past two weeks have announced that they are supporting Hillary Clinton in 2016 — all because Donald Trump is simply a bridge too far for them.

"When it comes to the presidency, I will not vote for Donald Trump," Paulsonwrote in The Washington Post last week. "I will not cast a write-in vote. I’ll be voting for Hillary Clinton, with the hope that she can bring Americans together to do the things necessary to strengthen our economy, our environment and our place in the world. To my Republican friends: I know I’m not alone."

He's not. And below are the big names that are with him — or, perhaps more accurately, with her.

(A note: While many, many Republicans have declined to embrace Trump's candidacy, a growing but significantly smaller group has gone so far as to express support for Clinton. This list focuses on the latter, and it will be updated in the weeks ahead.)

Bush administration officials

Henry Paulson, treasury secretary
Richard Armitage, deputy secretary of state and adviser to Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush — Trump "doesn't appear to be to be a Republican, he doesn't appear to want to learn about issues. So I’m going to vote for Mrs. Clinton."
Brent Scowcroft, chairman of the President's Intelligence Advisory Board and adviser to three previous GOP presidents — "The presidency requires the judgment and knowledge to make tough calls under pressure.... [Clinton] has the wisdom and experience to lead our country at this critical time."
Alan Steinberg, regional EPA administrator
Kori Schake, National Security Council and State Department aide

Advisers to previous GOP presidents
Doug Elmets, former Reagan spokesman — "I could live with four years of Hillary Clinton before I could ever live with one day of Donald Trump as president."
Jim Cicconi, former Reagan and George H.W. Bush aide — "Hillary Clinton is experienced, qualified and will make a fine president. The alternative, I fear, would set our nation on a very dark path.”The Washington Post Poll: Clinton's lead over Trump grows to double-digits A Washington Post-ABC News poll shows Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton taking a double-digit lead over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and a higher percentage of Americans saying she's qualified to serve as president.

Foreign policy leaders
Robert Kagan, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and a co-founder of the Project for the New American Century
Max Boot, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and adviser to GOP presidential candidates — "I'm literally losing sleep over Donald Trump. She would be vastly preferable to Trump."
Peter Mansoor, retired Army colonel and former aide to David Petraeus — "It will be the first Democratic presidential candidate I’ve voted for in my adult life."

Business leaders/donors
Marc Andreessen, venture capitalist — "[Silicon] Valley wouldn't be here, we wouldn't be doing any of this if we didn't have the amazing flow of immigrants that we've had in the last 80 years. And the idea of choking that off just makes me sick to my stomach."
Dan Akerson, former chairman and chief executive of General Motors — "Serving as the leader of the free world requires effective leadership, sound judgment, a steady hand and, most importantly, the temperament to deal with crises large and small. Donald Trump lacks each of these characteristics."
Chuck Robbins, chief executive of Cisco
Hamid Moghadam, chairman and chief executive of Prologis — "Our country is about tolerance and inclusion and that's why, as a lifelong Republican supporter, I endorse Hillary Clinton for president in this election."
William Oberndorf, $3 million to GOP candidates since 2012 — "If it is Trump vs. Clinton, and there is no viable third-party candidate, I will be voting for Hillary Clinton."
Mike Fernandez, $4 million to GOP candidates in recent years — "If I have a choice — and you can put it in bold — if I have a choice between Trump and Hillary Clinton, I’m choosing Hillary. She’s the lesser of two evils."

Former Republican elected officials
Larry Pressler, former three-term Republican senator from South Dakota who lost an independent campaign for his old seat in 2014 — "I can’t believe I’m endorsing Hillary Clinton for president, but I am. If someone had told me 10 years ago I would do this, I wouldn’t have believed them."
Arne Carlson, a former two-term Republican governor of Minnesota who supported President Obama
Robert Smith, former New York state Supreme Court justice — "This year, I’m going to vote for a Democrat for president  —  the first time I’ve done it in 36 years  —  and I think the decision is easy. Hillary Clinton is the only responsible choice, and I don’t understand why so few of my fellow conservatives see it that way."

Political operatives
Mark Salter, former top adviser to John McCain — "Whatever Hillary Clinton’s faults, she’s not ignorant or hateful or a nut. She acts like an adult and understands the responsibilities of an American president. That might not be a ringing endorsement. But in 2016, the year of Trump’s s campaign, it’s more than enough."
Mike Treiser, former Mitt Romney aide — "In the face of bigotry, hatred, violence, and small-mindedness, this time, I’m with her.”
Craig Snyder, former chief of staff to then-Republican former senator Arlen Specter (Pa.) and also an ex-colleague of former top Trump adviser Roger Stone and current top Trump adviser Paul Manafort.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Russian intelligence services hacked into Democratic National Committee computers and she accused Republican contender Donald Trump of showing support for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We know that Russian intelligence services hacked into the DNC and we know that they arranged for a lot of those emails to be released and we know that Donald Trump has shown a very troubling willingness to back up Putin, to support Putin," Clinton said in an interview with "Fox News Sunday."

Someone HAS WON $487M in the US lottery #HNNMoney

A Powerball ticket sold in New Hampshire matched the winning numbers for the game's jackpot of $487 million in a drawing on Saturday that marked the eighth-biggest lottery prize ever in the United States, a lottery official said.

The numbers drawn in the 11 p.m. EDT drawing on Saturday were 11, 17, 21, 23, 32 and the Powerball number of 5, according to the Powerball website.

A single winning ticket was sold in New Hampshire, said North Dakota Lottery director Randy Miller, chair of the Powerball group. In some past drawings, the jackpot has been split between multiple winning tickets.

The single ticket from the latest drawing is worth the winner's choice of $487 million spread over 30 years or $341.7 million in a lump-sum payment, before federal taxes.

This was the fifth largest Powerball jackpot in the game's history.

The Powerball game is based on lottery tickets sold for $2 apiece. It is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Brazilian drug lord turns jail cell into luxury suite #HNNCrime

Paraguayan authorities got a surprise when they raided a Brazilian drug lord's jail cell... and found a three-room luxury suite complete with library, kitchen, conference room and plasma TV.
Jarvis Chimenes Pavao, considered one of South America's most dangerous drug traffickers, had been serving an eight-year sentence for money laundering at the Tacumbu prison in the Paraguayan capital, Asuncion.

But little did anyone on the outside know what kind of lifestyle that really meant -- until a powerful bomb was discovered inside the prison.
Chimenes Pavao, who was due for release next year but facing extradition back to Brazil on drug charges, had allegedly planned to use the plastic explosives to blow a hole in the prison walls and escape.

But his plan backfired when police poured into the prison to investigate and discovered his pimped out cell.

All I can say is that the authorities were completely stupid not noticing this. Someone came in here to pimp out the cell and I bet it's an inside job.

Muslims refused to bury French Priest killer #HNNreligion

Muslims have refused to bury one of the terrorists who murdered a Catholic priest as he celebrated Mass.

Community leaders in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray said they did not want to "taint" Islam by having any association with Adel Kermiche, the 19-year-old jihadist who killed Fr Jacques Hamel in his hometown in northern France.

Mohammed Karabila, president of the local Muslim cultural association and imam of one of the town's mosques, told Le Parisien: "We're not going to taint Islam with this person.

"We won't participate in preparing the body or the burial."

In a separate conversation with Sky News, Mr Karabila reiterated there would be no involvement by the mosque's religious leadership in any funeral.

However, he added that if the mayor's office were to request the mosque receive the body, and Kermiche's family were to indicate they wanted a burial, they would be obligated to assign an individual from the community to oversee the process.

As yet Kermiche's family have not indicated whether they want a funeral for their son.

Tragic Hot air balloon crash leaves 16 people DEAD in #Texas

0730-texas-balloon-scene-lauren-lanmon-kxan-01
TMZ reports that a hot air balloon went down in flames Saturday and officials say it appears none of the 16 passengers survived the crash.

According to reports, the accident happened just north of Austin, Texas around 8 AM. Cops say the call first came in as a possible vehicle accident but when they arrived, it was determined the wreckage was from a balloon.

Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel Law told local reporters investigators are currently working to determine the number and identities of victims at this time.

The FAA and NTSB are also on scene ... it is believed the balloon may have struck power lines.

Did Rapper Soulja Boy get SHOT in the studio? #HNNCrime

TMZ reports what actually went down in this recording studio. Apparently Soulja boy was the target but one of hs entourage rappers got the bullet.

The armed robber who put a bullet in one of Soulja Boy's friends Friday was actually there for Soulja himself ... sources are telling TMZ.

We broke the story ... a bday guest of Soulja got shot in the arm outside of a recording studio in Hollywood. The victim is Killa J -- one of Soulja's artists. Sources connected to Soulja tell us he now suspects it was all an inside job.

We're told Soulja and his entourage noticed a black Ford SUV with four men in it waiting outside as they showed up to the studio to celebrate his 26th birthday ... and thought nothing of it at first.

As they wrapped up the party ... we're told Soulja's crew checked security cameras and saw the vehicle was still there. Killa J stepped out first to see what the deal was, and that's when four men rolled up and demanded Killa J give up Soulja Boy's Gucci bag, which is usually where he carries large amounts of cash.

We're told they asked for Soulja by name too. Probably not coincidentally ... he'd been flashing his bday stacks on social media during the party.

According to our sources, Killa J refused to cooperate ... and that's when bullets started flying and the Memphis rapper caught one in the arm. He's expected to recover.

Cops say they don't have any suspects yet.

Robin Williams daughter Zelda honors her dad with the best present #HNNMemorial

Today is bittersweet because it’s the day beloved actor Robin Williamswould’ve turned 65. Next month will mark the two-year anniversary of his death, but his daughter Zelda is honoring her dad’s memory in the best way — she took to Instagram to share a special throwback pic of Robin with her and her two brothers, Zachary and Cody

“Still not really sure what to do on days like today,” the Dead of Summeractress wrote. “I know I can’t give you a present anymore, but I guess that means I’ll just have to keep giving them in your name instead.”

She explains how her dad cared about three important causes: “rescue dogs, people suffering from disabilities, and our nation’s wounded veterans.” Zelda donated to a nonprofit organization that benefits all three: Freedom Service Dogs of America, which saves dogs and uses them to help people with special needs, including veterans and people currently in the military.

Verizon buys Yahoo for $4.8B. Seems very small to me #HNNMoney

Most Nigerians don't even know anything about Verizon. It was my ISP and phone provider at one point in America. After a months-long bidding process and many layoffs, Yahoo has finally found a buyer. Verizon (which owns AOL, which owns TechCrunch) is officially acquiring Yahoo’s core business for $4.83 billion in cash, which includes Yahoo’s advertising, content, search and mobile activities.

“Just over a year ago we acquired AOL to enhance our strategy of providing a cross-screen connection for consumers, creators and advertisers,” Verizon Chairman and CEO Lowell McAdam said in the release. “The acquisition of Yahoo will put Verizon in a highly competitive position as a top global mobile media company, and help accelerate our revenue stream in digital advertising.”

Yahoo’s stakes in Alibaba and Yahoo Japan aren’t part of the acquisition. These stakes are worth tens of billions of dollars alone. As of Friday July 22nd, Yahoo’s 15 percent stake of Alibaba represented $31.2 billion, and its 34 percent of Yahoo Japan was worth $8.3 billion. Yahoo’s patent portfolio, which is worth around $1 billion, isn’t part of the sale either. Yahoo’s Sunnyvale headquarters are part of the acquisition, a source told TechCrunch.

Yahoo will be integrated with AOL, and Verizon EVP and President of the Product Innovation and New Businesses organization Marni Walden is going to lead the process. AOL CEO Tim Armstrong also mentions Marissa Mayer in his memo though. “For me personally, I’m planning to stay. I love Yahoo, and I believe in all of you. It’s important to me to see Yahoo into its next chapter,” Mayer wrote in an internal Yahoo memo. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2017.

“Yahoo is a company that has changed the world, and will continue to do so through this combination with Verizon and AOL. The sale of our operating business, which effectively separates our Asian asset equity stakes, is an important step in our plan to unlock shareholder value for Yahoo,” Marissa Mayer said in the release. “This transaction also sets up a great opportunity for Yahoo to build further distribution and accelerate our work in mobile, video, native advertising and social. Yahoo and AOL popularized the Internet, email, search and real-time media. It’s poetic to be joining forces with AOL and Verizon as we enter our next chapter focused on achieving scale on mobile. We have a terrific, loyal, experienced and quality team, and I couldn’t be prouder of our achievements to date, including building our new lines of business to $1.6 billion in GAAP revenue in 2015. I’m excited to extend our momentum through this transaction.”

Last year, Verizon acquired AOL for $4.4 billion to boost its media and advertising businesses. Verizon remains a giant telecom company, but the acquisitions of AOL and now Yahoo show that the company wants to diversify its revenue and operations.

Once the deal closes, Verizon wants to merge Yahoo and AOL to form a bigger advertising and media subsidiary. This way, AOL gets more scale and reaches enough internet and mobile users to become an advertising giant reaching hundreds of millions or even billions of people.
