The firm, Kaye Scholer, is claiming that they had to his Suge with the hefty bill because they had to go use extraordinary means to track down his assets for the auction. “The representation of the Trustee in this case has been particularly complex due to the individuals involved in the company’s operations and intentionally illicit, ‘gangster-style’……business operations of the debtor,” stated a Kaye Scholer bankruptcy case fee application.Kaye Scholer is citing a expenses related to uncovering some assets Suge tried to hide including, “a Malibu home, that Knight transferred to friends in an effort to shield those assets from creditors, a secret storage locker in Michigan that contained a ‘treasure trove’ of unreleased songs by famous Death Row artists [and] other secret tracks–and records of hidden bank accounts–stashed in a southern California warehouse,” says the Wall Street Journal.

The firm also had to reportedly negotiate with three women who all claimed the former head honcho owned them $500,000 in child support. The law firm that handled last week’s auction of Death Row Records is using Suge Knight’s “gangster-style” reputation as a the reasoning behind a $6.8 million case handling fee.

A man who narrowly avoided being struck by a bullet that fatally wounded his friend earlier this week is co-operating with authorities, but hasn't illuminated a motive for the killing or led police to a suspect.

The witness contacted investigators after 23-year-old Basil Bryan of Toronto was shot to death Tuesday. The two were walking south along Keele St., outside an auto body shop near Eglinton Ave. W., when shots rang out around 10:30 p.m.

"It's still early in the investigation," Det. Sgt. Savas Kyriacou said yesterday. "We can't speculate on a motive. (Bryan) could have been targeted. ... It could have been anything." 'This Isn't Milli Vanilli': Obama Inauguration Music Was Pre-Recorded.

Whether you loved or hated the classical music played at President Barack Obama's inauguration, what you heard was a recording made two days earlier unless you were sitting within earshot of the celebrated performers.

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriella Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill made the decision a day before Tuesday's inauguration after a sound check to use a previously recorded audio tape for the broadcast of the ceremonies.

Carole Florman, a spokeswoman for the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, said the weather was too cold for the instruments to stay in tune.

"They were very insistent on playing live until it became clear that it would be too cold," said Florman in a telephone interview Thursday night.

People sitting nearby could hear the musicians play "Air and Simple Gifts", written for the inauguration by John Williams, but their instruments were not amplified.

"It would have been a disaster if we had done it any other way," Perlman told the New York Times, which first reported that the music was taped on its Web site Thursday. "This occasion's got to be perfect. You can't have any slip-ups."

The Marine Band, the youth choruses and the Navy Band Sea Chanters performed live, Florman said, although Aretha Franklin was accompanied by taped music and voices.

Florman said all the acts "laid down tape" before Tuesday's inauguration. When they did their sound checks on Monday, all but the quartet made the decision to have their live performances broadcast.

The temperature hovered around 30 for the ceremony on the Capitol steps, too cold for McGill's clarinet, Ma's cello or Perlman's violin to offer true pitch. But the cold played havoc with the piano, which can't hold tune below 55 degrees for more than two hours, Florman said. The group played at 11:43 a.m., and guests seated near them could hear them as well as the tape made two days earlier. Guests seated farther away, the crowds that thronged the National Mall, and the millions who watched around the world heard the taped version of Williams' piece.

"This isn't Milli Vanilli," Florman insisted, referring to the late 1980s group stripped of a Grammy for lip-syncing. "They had to perform in such cold weather, the instruments couldn't possibly be in tune. They were able to play in sync with the tape. It's not unusual."

That shocked me when I heard about the Milli Vanilli inaugural! LOL!

Katy Perry Picks Death Over Celibacy!

She had a hit – and a Grammy nomination – with a song called "I Kissed a Girl." So, who would expect Katy Perry to abstain from all things amorous?

"I am not going to be celibate," Perry, 24, said with a laugh during a conference call with reporters on Thursday. "That was a joke, and any fine journalist would have got that."

Perry was referring to an interview she gave in which she said she had taken a vow of celibacy in 2009 after splitting with rocker boyfriend Travis McCoy.

"Please," she now says, "celibacy for the whole year? I'd rather die."

Still, the singer, who describes herself as a "prankster and a jokester," says she may be less active.

Aretha Franklin: Well, I bought it at a little millinery that I frequent out in Detroit.

King: What was that like for you (Tuesday)?

Franklin: Oh. What a tremendous, mammoth morning, evening, the ball, everything, from one event to the other, was just too much.

King: How did you find out you were singing?

Franklin: My agent called me and he told me that he had received an invitation and a telephone call, asking for my presence and performance at the swearing-in and the inauguration.

PETA CLOSES CASE ON BEYONCE'S DOG..

PETA bosses have closed their investigation surrounding BEYONCE's pet shih tzu after learning reports the singer has abandoned her dog are nonsense. Internet reports suggested the pop star had dumped Munchie with staff at her record label in New York a year ago after growing tired of his misbehaving ways, but officials at the animal rights group have discovered there's no truth to the rumours.

The PETA people wanted to make sure Beyonce hadn't abandoned her pet - and that the pedigree mutt wasn't just a music mascot at Columbia, so they made calls and investigated.
And now they're happy in the knowledge Beyonce hasn't dumped her dog.
A spokeswoman for PETA says, "We've had an up and down relationship with Beyonce over her past fur-wearing, but lately it's been on the ups, as she hasn't been seen in fur the past two winters.

"We were happy to learn from Beyonce's rep that, as we suspected, the Munchie tale is far from the truth, and that the dog hasn't even been to the record company's offices in months." The singer's publicist has told the PETA researchers that Munchie is "a pampered pooch whom everyone adores," adding Beyonce and her cousin, the dog's main caretaker, are "still crazy in love with him".

The spokeswoman says, "Because they travel quite a bit, Munchie is usually left with family or friends. Never at the record company. "We are glad to hear that Beyonce isn't leaving her baby boy behind, and we're certainly happy to hear that Munchie is irreplaceable to his guardians."

WITH THE FRIGID COLD, WEEZY HEATED UP CANADA YESTERDAY!

It was a crazy week you know? I stopped by at the hotel to meet with Gorilla Zoe, an Atlanta Rapper on the tour with Weezy, T-Pain, Keyshia Cole and Keri Hilson. Weezy and Keri headed to Much Music and though I did not go to the concert, I stopped by to see the chaos then later went to the afterparty. Jane Stevenson of the Toronto Sun reports but however gave the show 3 stars!!!

Lil' Wayne, the hottest rapper of the last year, arrived at the Air Canada Centre on Thursday night with his so-called I Am Music tour.

Anticipation was high for the first headlining trek by the 26-year-old prolific, tattooed, scratchy-voiced and dreadlocked New Orleans native, whose sixth album, Tha Carter III, was not only the biggest selling disc of 2008 in the U.S. – it sold a staggering million plus copies in its first week alone – but also leads this year's Grammy contest with eight nominations including album of the year.

All that, and recent eight-time gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps admitted to listening to Lil' Wayne's I'm Me on his iPod while getting psyched up before each race in Beijing.

Before the rapper, who stands five-foot-six, even took the stage last night, the crowd of 14,500 was chanting "Weezy! Weezy!" in a shout-out to his nickname Weezy F. Baby.

METALLICA CONSIDERING TOURING WITH GUNS AND ROSES.

METALLICA would consider a rock supertour with GUNS N' ROSES - after hailing the group's comeback album CHINESE DEMOCRACY. The Enter Sandman hitmakers are big fans of their rock counterparts, who they rose to fame alongside in the 1980s. And drummer Lars Ulrich admits he would jump at the chance to tour alongside Axl Rose's legendary group.

He says, "We're road dogs. We love to tour. So we'd never say no. We've learned never to say no to anything, and all four of us love Chinese Democracy." But guitarist Kirk Hammett admits he doesn't see the rockers making an offer in the near future, adding: "The real question is whether they would tour with us."

OZZY OSBOURNE'S WIFE SHARON WINS LIBEL DAMAGES!

OZZY OSBOURNE's wife SHARON has accepted libel damages from a British newspaper over a story about the couple's working relationship. Osbourne launched legal action against U.K. tabloid The Sun following a 2007 story which made a series of negative comments about her role in her husband's career. The 56-year-old won her case at London's High Court on Thursday (15Jan09) and accepted an undisclosed sum of money and an apology from the publication. News Group Newspapers, the company which owns The Sun, will also pay the star's legal fees.

Osbourne's solicitor, John Kelly, told the court the article in question was "entirely without foundation" and "extremely distressing, hurtful and damaging". A spokesperson for Osbourne says, "Sharon is delighted to have won her case. She would prefer not to have to take legal action against the media, but had no alternative in this case. Sharon and Ozzy are pleased that they can put this matter behind them."

WILL SMITH is overjoyed BARACK OBAMA is to take the reins at the White House next week (20Jan09) - because America's first black president will "change the world forever". The I Am Legend star has been a passionate supporter of the Democrat and appeared in a star-studded public service announcement advert to encourage people to go the polls. He was delighted to see Obama elected in November (08) and views the historic appointment as life changing.

He tells British morning show GMTV, "It's not just revolutionary, it's evolutionary. Never before in the history of the planet has someone, a group of people, moved from the slave class of empire to be elected to the top spot." And Smith will always look back on the day Obama was elected with fond memories - it brought his whole family together to witness the momentous occasion.
He tells the BBC, "It's just such a huge moment for America and for the world, it's something I believed was real and possible for so long. I carried myself around the world in that way as if it could be true, possible, so there's a deep truth in me that was validated on (Election Day) November 4th.

"We watched it together as a family. With my kids it was no big deal, whereas for myself and for (wife) Jada, and even more so for our parents, who lived through the struggle for equality, it was so huge, but for our kids the world is different. "(The world) has changed forever. The ideas and the fibres that are created for America have never been more true than today."
