Classic Music: Dare Art Alade: Escalade (A Nigerian Hit)
Nigeria's hip-hop and R&B giants: Tuface, D'Banj and Dare Art Alade.( Google them) This is like having Diddy, Jay-Z and Ludacris in my arms
My starstruck girlfriends with Dare after he jumped off the stage at the end of his performance! (The power of my press pass!)
Someone asked me about Nigerian music in an e-mail last night. They wanted to know what kind of music we sing. It's the same deal....R&B, hip-hop, rap etc. I promised to upload my fave artist Dare Art Alade whose father was the legendary Nigerian singer Art Alade who passed away years ago. His name is Oluwadare just like mine is Oluwakemi. The song starts "My name is Dare" pronounced Da-ray. It's a 2006 song off his old album and it's a hit that won't go away.
Escalade is about how Nigerian girls will only date you if you have a luxury car. (TRUE!) In this case, Dare has access to the cars etc but CAN'T DRIVE in the song! It is so funny. Listen to it, download it and he is also checking the story out. He opened in that 2006 concert for Busta and Snoop Dogg and opened for Diddy in the 2007 one. Listen to his English, we are a British colony and all the misconceptions about Africa is WRONG! Listen below........
