Rockers FALL OUT BOY are often treated like terrorists at airports when security staff who fail to recognise them find pyrotechnic residue on their luggage. Guitar cases onstage are showered with fireworks at concerts and the residue leaves airport security chiefs baffled. The group most recently hit problems during a stopover in Canada on Wednesday (29Oct08).
Bass player Pete Wentz explains,
"When they X-Ray our bags sometimes, they have residue from the pyro and it shows up as an explosive. Then you have a passport with all the places you've been to; you're going to Canada for a day. They're like, 'Sure, OK!'"Meanwhile they had a pre-Halloween scare when 31 cases of luggage and equipment were lost on that evil flight to Canada from Europe last week. The band and its crew had to scramble around for the basics so they could continue a promotional tour for their new album, Folie a Deux. Frontman Patrick Stump says,
"They lost 31 bags of ours... We landed yesterday (29Oct08)." He adds, "It's (back to) really bad gear and then we went shopping at the mall by the hotel... After a 16-hour flight, it's time to change your clothes." Bandmate Pete Wentz explains, "We lost all our socks and our underwear and stuff, so we go to the mall."Wait till Pete's baby with Ashley Simpson arrive any day now! They'll be dragging 100 pieces of luggage, cribs and strollers. Better get Nicole Richie and the Madden guy's phone #.....
