#Somali minister among 15 killed in attack on hotel in capital #HNNTerror

The AP reports that A Somali Cabinet minister is among the 15 killed in an Islamic extremist attack on a hotel in the capital, police say.

Four attackers also died in the assault which was claimed by al-Shabab, Somalia’s militant rebels who are allied to al-Qaida.

State Minister for the Environment, Buri Hamza, was among those killed, said Capt. Mohamed Hussein, a senior Somali police officer. Hamza died when his hotel room collapsed Saturday because of the powerful car bomb which extremists used to blast their way into the Nasa-Hablod Hotel.

At least 34 people were injured, according to police and hospital sources.

It’s the second attack on a hotel since the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in early June. Both attacks have been claimed by al-Shabab.

The attacks have raised concerns about the security of hotels in the seaside capital which has seen numerous attacks by al-Shabab in recent years.

“The trend and lethality of such attacks suggest how vulnerable the security of hotels and the city in general are now,” said Mohamed Sheikh Abdi, a Somali political analyst.

“Many residents now shun going to hotels that provide some of the few sources of entertainment available in Mogadishu,” he said. At hotels, patrons smoke shisha (tobacco) in water pipes, enjoy dance music and play games such as dominoes and dice.

Mogadishu resident Ahmed Ali said that he has stopped going to hotels as they are seen as “death traps because they are favourite targets for al-Shabab ... Having fun at hotels is good but my safety comes first.”

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud condemned the attacks in a statement Sunday.

Somalia: Woman Killed As KDF Bomb On Civilian Area in Gedo #HNNTerror

Kenyan defense forces (KDF) have fired at least nine mortar rounds on a residential area in Gedo region near Somali border with Kenya on Sunday, a resident confirmed the shelling.

The resident who asked not to be named, told Radio Shabelle byy phone that KDF's bombardment on Dhamase village caused destruction of houses and forced families to flee.

"A woman was killed and a young girl wounded after Kenyan military forces have indiscriminately bombarded Dhamase, 20Km square area in Gedo region," said the anonymous resident.

Dhamase village is located near El Wak town in Gedo region on Somali border with Kenya.

Nigerian Army wants to DESTROY #BokoHaram's radio station at all costs #HNNTerror

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has embarked on surveillance to locate and destroy a radio station allegedly operated by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The station has become more vocal in north east even as the military started clearing the remnant of insurgents hiding in the region’s Sambisa forest.

The insurgents use the radio to broadcast their messages to indoctrinate young people.

The radio has been used to recruit people into Boko Haram and spur them to embark on suicide mission.

As part of its effort to deal with the Boko Haram mouthpiece, the Nigeria Army floated its radio to counter that of the insurgents after attempts to jam insurgent’s radio frequency failed.

Meanwhile, the Army has said it will not be distracted in its resolve to end Boko Haram terrorism in the country’s North East.

FACEBOOK no longer SYNCHING photos from your devices after July 7th #HNNTech

I got the e-mail and almost ignored it. There are several photos in my sync folder especially these days that I only use my fanpage and totally forgotten about my friends page. Facebook is no longer synching photos. You know that mechanism that allows all your pictures to go to a secret folder in your page when you take pictures. In case your device is lost you have the photos backed up. Google and Dropbox have that too. Read the e-mail below and start downloading your photos.

Femi Fani-Kayode said to be assaulted and injured in EFCC custody #HNNMoney

Today I learned that Former aviation minister and PDP Publicity man for the 2015 campaign Femi Fani Kayode was assaulted in EFCC custody by one Officer Kabiru. @realffk is said to be injured. More details to come. I was also notified that he's being housed in Ikoyi prison awaiting trial for alleged charges to do with the arms deal money that was used for former President Jonathan's campaign. 

He made bail and new charges were added to it making them able to detain him further. Most Nigerians say that it's a political witch hunt and you cannot silence strong voices like Femi's. I hope he wasn't badly hurt. These EFCC officers carry assault rifles along with their police escorts. The EFCC is the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Nigeria.

Kanye West's Famous Video: Stars start to address why they were included in the bed #HNNMusic

It's an interesting video of sorts with many celebrities in bed with Kimye. We haven't heard from Bill Cosby yet but Chris Brown and Taylor Swift have spoken. The scene, originally imagined by American painter Vincent Desiderio, "directly inspired" West. 

The cast of nudes is deliberately controversial, from Taylor Swift, who is referenced by misogynist lyrics in the song, to Bill Cosby, who West appeared to defend on Twitter earlier this year, to Rihanna, who is depicted laying next to her abuser Chris Brown. 

West said that he took great care to avoid a sexual vibe, though whether he's successful there will depend on how much viewers will be able to suspend their knowledge of the overt sexual drama between the video's characters. Chris Brown has gone on Instagram to comment on the way he was positioned on the bed, with the duvet covering about half of his rear. "Why I gotta have the plumbers butt/crack showing WAX figured?" he asked, seemingly amused.

"This n*gga KANYE CRAZY, talented, but crazy," Brown then exclaimed, echoing what seems to be the general reaction to Ye's latest video.

Both George Bush and Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue, were quick to point out that they had no prior awareness of the video and that neither of them actually got into bed naked with Kanye. Kanye appeared to taunt Taylor Swift and Donald Trump on Twitter. Interesting.

Tonight's BET Awards, airing live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, are shaping up to be an exciting television event.

"Black-ish" co-stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross will be back for a second time around as the program's hosts.

Drake leads the show's nominees with nine nods. Beyonce and Rihanna follow suit, having both scored five nominations each, while Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller and Future earned four nods apiece.

Stevie Wonder Added to Prince Tribute Lineup at BET Awards

Performers scheduled to appear include Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Alicia Keys, Maxwell, D'Angelo and many others.

Also, look out for Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Sheila E, and Janelle Monae joining forces for a highly anticipated "Celebration of Prince" tribute to commemorate the death of the legendary music icon. There's also a tribute planned for Muhammad Ali, who died earlier this month.

Other show highlights include actor Samuel L. Jackson receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to Hollywood, and "Grey's Anatomy" star Jesse Williams receiving the Humanitarian Award.

Scheduled presenters include Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Morris Chestnut, the cast of the forthcoming New Edition biopic movie, Taraji P. Henson, and others.

This massive #California wildfire has killed 2 and destroyed 150 homes with people FLEEING

A massive wildfire burning out of control in the foothills of central California has left at least 150 homes in ruins and damaged another 75.

The so-called Erskine fire , which broke out on Thursday some 40 miles northeast of Bakersfield in Kern County, has already claimed at least two lives, left three firefighters in hospital and forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes.

More than 1,100 firefighters have been deployed to battle the blaze, which has blackened some 35,700 acres and was 0% contained as of Saturday afternoon. California Governor Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency for Kern County.

She's going to be deported from Ireland for the filing of three asylum claims in 3 different names. Tokunbo has this fake letter posted by someone she calls my "stepmother". I don't have a stepmother, Ronke is her friend and my father's concubine and never married my father at any time. I guess that will sort itself out when my father dies one day and we'll be asking for marriage certificates. Read the letter below. Our family press release shocked her so much as the media finished her. She even trended. I will highlight exactly how Tokunbo writes in yellow. Ronke who she says wrote the letter is in London getting treated for cervical cancer I heard. Where does she have time to be writing Tokunbo? My father is supposed to be bedridden with dementia and prostate cancer and has not spoken to me since November 2015. I visit my father weekly in his office at his desk and even post photos on Facebook for my fans. It's her Ronke sent the statement not all media. Tokunbo is a pathetic liar with a bad affective personality disorder. A bunch of jokes.

My husband Former Governor Omololu Olunloyo did not speak to any press. (His family jointly released a statement. Ronke is not even in Nigeria)

Dr Omololu is living with me at Felele since Kemi and her mother beats and pushed him out (The police would have arrested us a long time ago if we beat and pushed him out and he does not live in Felele. He lives in Molete) after my husband accused them of stolen the money 40,00$ given to him by Dr Ajimobi  (LMAO Fourty dollars given to him by Dr Ajimobi or the N10M given to him by Governor Ajimobi that Ronke and my dad's PA stole part of to pay her children's school fees in London? to travel for an operation in UK.

The BET awards start on the red carpet at 5pm Pacific time which is about 1am in Nigeria. The show and performances start at 8pm Pacific time which is 4am Nigerian time. I will be covering the entire highlights with reporters and interns on every side of the building.

@Drake sweeps the #MMVAS with several awards #HNNMusic

Toronto's own Drake swept the Much Music Video Awards on Sunday night, taking home five trophies during a politically charged Canadian awards show that had Nick Jonas giving a shout-out to the Orlando shooting victims and their family and Pretty Little Liarsstar Lucy Hale commenting on the recent debate around transgender bathroom rights.

What a difference the smash hit that is the music video for "Hotline Bling" makes: Drake nabbed the best video of the year, best director, best hip-hop video and most buzzworthy Canadian awards. And with Majid Jordan, Drizzy won the best MuchFACT video award for their hit single "My Love," which features the Canadian rap sensation.

As his album Views continues atop the Billboard charts, Drake came into the MMVAs Sunday leading the field along with singer-songwriter Alessia Cara with seven nominations each. Cara took home just one trophy, for best new Canadian artist.

1. Super Host: All eyes will be on Gigi Hadid who is expected to host tonight's awards show. While fans may know her as a supermodel and social media queen, we can't help but point out all of her cameos in a few familiar music videos. Perhaps Taylor Swift 's "Bad Blood," Zayn Malik's "Pillowtalk" and Calvin Harris' "How Deep Is Your Love" ring a bell?

2. Red Carpet Ready: It's not an awards show without some unpredictable fashion. In addition to some of music's biggest names, stars like Amber Rose, Hailey Baldwin, Shay Mitchell andLucy Hale will be walking the red carpet in world-famous designer looks. And if you're looking for some eye candy, Shemar Moore and Tyler Posey may just do the trick.

3. Grab the Mic: An impressive ten acts will be performing on the MMVAs stage for the very first time this year. As for who fans are most excited to see, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are slated to take the stage as well as a collaboration between Hailee Steinfeld and Shawn Hook. Speaking of Shawn, ladies will be excited to know Shawn Mendes is also performing live. Music to our ears!

4. Dynamic Duo: Just a couple of days after fans went crazy over a photo of Nick Jonas andCamila Cabello, the pair will reunite at tonight's awards show. Tonight in Toronto, Gigi Hadid has owned the fashion runways and tonight the American supermodel will be taking the reins at the IHeartRadio Canada Much Music Video Awards.

Hadid is set to host Canada's most rambunctious awards show from the streets of downtown Toronto where a giant stage will feature some of the year's hottest pop artists.

The event will be broadcast on CTV, Much Music, Much.com and various other channels. Leading the pack of nominees are Drake and pop singer Alessia Cara. Both are tied with seven nominations each, including nods for video of the year for Drake's "Hotline Bling" and Cara's "Here."

Cara is also nominated in the newly created best new Canadian artist category, alongside Coleman Hell, Dan Talevski, Jazz Cartier and Ria Mae.

Musicians set to perform at the MMVAs include Nick Jonas and hip hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Toronto singer-songwriter Scott Helman and "Criminal Minds" actor Shemar Moore are among the presenters.

"So excited to be headed to Toronto this weekend to host," Hadid wrote on Twitter ahead of the show.

She also posted an early Father's Day shout out on Instagram on Saturday, saying her hosting duties would keep her from sending her "daddio" a message on the official day.

Hadid will be joined by Much personalities Liz Trinnear and Tyrone Edwards as co-hosts.
