Nadja Benaissa had faced up to 10 years in prisonAn HIV-positive German popstar accused of infecting a former partner with the virus has been given a two-year suspended prison sentence.Nadja Benaissa, 28, was found guilty on one count of causing grievous bodily harm and two of attempted bodily harm.

The No Angels singer had admitted having unprotected sex and keeping her HIV status secret, but denied deliberately infecting anyone.At the trial, she said she was "sorry from the bottom of my heart"."I wish I could turn back the clock and make it all not happen," she told the court in the western town of Darmstadt.

Page is a rapper that has resurrected the spirit of Notorious B.I.G. There is just something about both of them that I cant quite pick out. It's like the SAME person. As a result, Page has developed his own style of things. I won't say he "copies" Biggie in any form. The JUNO nominated rapper has this teaser where somewhere in the United States, him and some masked goon are making crack in a crack house and who knows what's next?

This clip brings back the spirit of the drug filled neighborhoods in the 80's and I sure hope this is a documentary music video of some kind because as you know, Big Page is not American. He is Canadian of African descent and may be trying to illustrate something else here. Canadian artists are doing it artistically BIG! And oh yeah he was the one who wrote and rapped the song you like "I'm still fly" featuring Rapper Drake. That is a 2010 JUNO nominated rap song. The version below is the one you should be watching with lots of bass and 1.5 million hits on YouTube.

CANADIAN EXPLOSION: ROCK BOTTOM IS A CANADIAN YOUNG BAND TO WATCH OUT FOR.

Their song Midnight Black is a classic rock song. We wish Slash could now listen to this and tell us if Rock in Roll is really dead. It's alive here in Canada. Think about this, they are teenagers but when I got this song link and listened to it, I heard parts of Anvil laced with April Wine especially when those guys were all younger.

Myles Goodwin said at the 2010 Junos that he still believes in the instrument and that although YouTube is here and everyone can put music up, he's not crazy about it and prefers music playing younger artists with their instrument in full view. "If you are going to put that into the tubes, then I'm fine."

Midnight Black is ready for the rock and roll game, start making videos, maybe one or two and networking heavily with media. I see a JUNO in less than 2 years if they keep up with this. LAUREN HILL BACK ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS?

It’s been a minute (to say the least), but Lauryn Hill has found her way back to the charts.

According to Billboard, Hill has made her first debut as a lead artist on the charts in more than a decade. The recently-leaked single "Repercussions" debuted on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 94.

It was 1999 when Hill last appeared on the charts with "Turn Your Lights Down Low," featuring Bob Marley. That song peaked at No. 49.

“Repercussions” and Hill’s upcoming scheduled appearances on the Rock the Bells tour have stirred speculation that she’s embarked on a comeback.

CTV CRIME REPORTER JIM JUNKIN RETIRES AFTER 41 YEARS.

After 41 years with CTV Toronto, and 25 years as Toronto’s most famous police reporter, Jim Junkin announced tonight on CTV Toronto’s NEWS AT SIX that he will file his last story this Friday, August 13. Viewers can visit toronto.ctv.ca/jim to view highlights from his career and send him best wishes for his retirement.

“Spending the last four decades with CTV Toronto, doing what I love to do while making a difference in the community, has been a childhood dream come true,” said Jim Junkin. “CTV Toronto is family to me and when the toughest stories hit, I knew they were behind me every step of the way. I’ve done all I want to do in broadcasting and I am ready for retirement.”

“In his distinguished career, Jim Junkin has earned both the respect of the Toronto Police Service and the trust of GTA viewers,” said Paul Rogers, Senior Vice-President of CTV Toronto. “He represents the very best in journalism and we wish him well in his retirement.”

Best known as a police reporter, Junkin spent more than 25 years covering Toronto ’s crime beat. He said the most difficult cases involved crimes against children. “Those were always the toughest,” he said. “And I felt it was my duty to see these cases through the courts, to make sure the victims were not forgotten, and that the public knew justice was served.”

BOW WOW PISSES OFF CO-STAR ON SET!

Funnyman BRANDON T. JACKSON struggled to film his most dramatic scenes with BOW WOW for upcoming comedy LOTTERY TICKET - because the rapper was constantly tweeting fans in between takes.The Tropic Thunder comedian was eager to impress fans with his dramatic acting skills in the new role. But the Girlfriend hitmaker-turned-actor made it hard for Jackson to re main in character - because the set was flooded with Bow Wow's fans as so on as the rapper posted updates about his whereabouts on social networking website Twitter.com.

Jackson says, "He likes to tweet on set. I'm trying to be in the scene, I'm trying to be a good actor. And Bow Wow's a good actor, I love Bow Wow, but we've got this dramatic scene... and he's tweeting. I'm trying to get my Denzel (Washington) on. YAWN: FLOCKA FLAME DENIES FEUD WITH GUCCI MANE.

Not like I care but Rapper WAKA FLOCKA FLAME has dismissed rumours of a feud with GUCCI MANE, insisting "everything's great" between the pair despite his former hip-h op mentor firing the newcomer's mother as his manager. The O Let's Do It hitmaker, who rose to fame as a member of Mane's So Icey team, hit headlines when he recently told Vibe magazine the MCs "don' t talk anymore". The comment sparked rumours of a falling out after Mane ended his working relationship with Debra Antney, Flocka Flame's mother and manager, earlier this year (10).

But Flocka Flame insists he harbours no hard feelings towards Mane, blaming his "super busy" schedule for their lack of contact. He tells Atlanta, Georgia radio station Hot 107.9: "I don't think it's no split (sic). We couldn't meet each other on a business level... or a personal level. Whatever the level is, I don't know. MR ALICIA KEYS WANTS FANS TO NAME HIS ALBUM

Rapper/producer SWIZZ BEATZ is appealing to his Twitter.com followers to help name his upcoming album - because he's struggling to come up with a suitable title. Alicia Keys' new husband is set to release his third solo project later this year (10), but he is not completely happy with its working title, King Issues, and has reached out to his fans online to find a better name.

In a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, he writes, "I still need a name for my album :( so far its (sic) called KING ISSUES... I will let you guys name it I am done with trying to name it :) "I don't want to use the word king in my album name lets (sic) think of something new with a new feel. T.I. IN TROUBLE OVER ATLANTA NIGHTCLUB.

Rap mogul T.I. is facing losing the liquor licence for his Atlanta, Georgia nightclub after city officials raised concerns about incidents of violence and disorderly conduct at the venue.

The Live Your Life hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., owns Club Crucial in his native Bankhead and it is regularly named as one of Atlanta's most popular hotspots. But the hip-hop star, whose family friend Patricia Reid runs the establishment, has found himself in trouble with local authorities following six altercations involving drunk patrons.

Atlanta officials wanted to have the venue's licence permanently remove d for what they called a "systematic failure to supervise", and they recently took their request to the city's alcohol licencing board. Reid's attorney, Dewayne Martin, appealed the challenge and claimed the club had "a viable security plan that addresses security on site". Boardmembers refused to back the permanent ban and instead suggested fining club owners $50,000 and issuing a 30-day restriction on selling alcohol at the venue.The club's fate now rests with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, who is expected to make a final decision in the coming weeks.

50 CENT SIGNS UP AS BONE MARROW DONOR TO HELP SICK BROADWAY STAR.

Rap superstar 50 CENT is encouraging fans to follow in his footsteps and register as bone marrow donors after he was moved by the plight of young Broadway star and leukaemia sufferer SHANNON TAVAREZ. The 11-year-old actress, who played the young Nala in hit musical The L ion King, was diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia in April (10) and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant to survive.

Alicia Keys and Rihanna have already issued a plea to their devotees to help find a suitable donor for Tavarez and now 50 Cent and his G-Unit bandmate Tony Yayo have thrown their support behind the cause. The rappers recently registered with DKMS, the world's largest marrow donor centre, after hearing about little Tavarez. And the In Da Club hitmaker admits he was inspired to make a change aft er realising how close in age Tavarez is to his own son, Marquise.

50 Cent says, "My son is just a couple years older than Shannon and I can't imagine if his life was needlessly cut short when there is someone out there that could save him. "Shannon's chances of finding a matching donor are slim because she's African American and Dominican and minorities are underrepresented in the national registry. "Everyone, regardless of their race or ethnicity deserves a fair chance at life. Registering to become a bone marrow donor starts with a cheek swab but it's more than that. It's a commitment to save a life."

Justin Bieber is adding movie star to his resume.

Paramount Pictures, MTV Films and Bieber's record label, Island Def Jam, say the 16-year-old pop star has signed on to appear in a feature film about his life and career.

The yet-to-be-titled movie is set for release on "Valentine's weekend" of 2011, the companies said Tuesday.

Bieber will also be producing the film, along with mentor Usher, manager Scooter Braun and Island Def Jam Music Group chairman LA Reid.

The movie will offer a "VIP backstage pass" into Bieber's life and will feature 3-D footage from his "My World 2.0" concert tour.

The ubiquitous teen sensation is also bringing his life to readers: HarperCollins announced Monday that it will publish his memoir in October.

I GOT A FEELING: WILL.I.AM DOES NOT WANT A NEW JACKSON ALBUM.

A new Michael Jackson album is expected by the end of the year, culled from unreleased material in his vaults. But Jackson collaborator and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am is vehemently opposed to the idea.

"I don't think that should ever come out. That's bad," he said. "He was a perfectionist and he wouldn't have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain't here to bless it?"

Will.i.am collaborated with Jackson on the rerelease of "Thriller" in 2008 with remixed versions of some of the album's classic songs. He said Jackson was very particular about all aspects of his musical productions, from his vocals to arrangements to instrumentation.

"Now that he is not part of the process, what are they doing? Why would you put a record out like that? Because he was a friend of mine, I just think that's disrespectful," he said. "What's wrong with what he already contributed to the world?"

The Jackson estate did not respond to a request for comment.

When asked about the high demand for any new Jackson music, will.i.am replied: "So what? You don't disrespect someone when they're gone. ... How much can you suck from his energy? ... Freaking parasites!"

Not much is known about what will be on the album, but Michael's brother Jackie has said he and brother Marlon were working on the record with John McClain, Jackson's former manager and executor of his estate.

THE 2010 TORONTO INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS IS NOW IN THE HISTORY BOOKS.

The Toronto Independent Music awards was held on Friday July 23rd 2010 once again at the Phoenix Concert theatre in Toronto. Awards were given out in various music genres. It was a fun night as many in the music industry came out to see their fave indie artists get recognized in what they do best. Daniela Oliva, the founder put up a great show with lots of sponsors including $60,ooo in prizes.

It was a full house of performances, green room appearances and photos. I presented the Best Alternative Rock award which went out to Waxmen. These guys JUMPED onto the stage with happiness. This is what the TIMAS are about. Pictured on the red carpet with the CEO and Founder Daniela Oliva is Atlanta based R&B artist Tim Campbell who was nominated for Best International/USA artist. The White Ravens won but we hear Campbell raised off the roof at Yonge-Dundas Square 2 days later at Youth Day 2010 with his R&B performance.

Several group, past and present nominees were in attendance like JD Era, Rich Kidd who won the Best Live Urban and many more.

So what's this I hear from internal snitches @ Canadian immigration that the entire Young Money clan cannot perform in Canada? Drake was spotted above at Vancouver airport for a sold out show. The guys above with the LV backpacks are his band members I met at the JUNOS. He was here in Toronto on Sunday for the OVO fest (October's Very Own) which signifies what month he was born in. True, immigration bans people with criminal records from coming into Canada especially serious ones like GUNS and DRUGS.

I am being told that Drake is lucky to be a native Canadian and that Nicki Minaj, L'il Wayne and some others in the group are actually banned FOR LIFE here as of now. Mmmm... No comment. I know Weezy has a lot of gun charges after leaving here Jan 2009 at that concert at the ACC and who knows when T.I will get back in.

Alicia Keys also joined the wedding crowd this past weekend heavily pregnant and got married somewhere in the Mediterranean to Swiss Beatz the Producer. The kid gave them away and Mashonda is finally free of the drama.

CONGRATS TO TINY AND TIP ON THEIR WEEKEND WEDDING.

So my girl Tiny is finally married to T.I. The wedding was a lavish affair this past weekend in Miami. I hear the whole of Atlanta left town. We will hopefully get better pictures soon as TIP is not happy with the quality of pictures that went out on twitter. However they are still fine to me. Now everyone is even a happier bigger family. T.I is one of the BEST dads I know in the entire WORLD, not just showbiz. Watch out for his movie "Takers" which will be out August 27th. We love TIP here at HipHossip and have been there since day one for him.
