The yacht's owner, New York real-estate mogul Jonathan Leitersdorf, was not on board when the attack occurred.

MOBB DEEP rapper PRODIGY has credited his time in prison with making him wise. The hip-hop star was jailed for three years for unlawful gun possession last October (07). And the star - real name Albert Johnson - is glad he was imprisoned, because it has made him a better person. He tells AllHipHop.com,"When I get back out there in the real world it's gonna be on. (I'm) much better, much wiser (than before the incarceration).
It's going down, trust me." And Johnson has spoken of how he is occupying himself until his release. He adds, "I'm just taking it easy, day by day serving my time like a man. Doing what I gotta do. I read books everyday, kick it with some of the younger inmates in here, passing books on to them. (We) pick each other's brains."

Rapper C-MURDER has offered to help REMY MA cope with jail life after her partner PAPOOSE approached him for advice. The New Orleans, Louisiana star is currently under house arrest - awaiting a retrial - after a life sentence for second-degree murder was overturned in 2006. And he's using the time between jail and court to mentor other rap stars who have been incarcerated. He says, "Papoose had a lot of questions about Remy's situation, so any kind of way I can help, even if it's just words and advice, that's what it is." C-Murder, real name Corey Miller, admits he's a little concerned that so many of his peers have been locked up in the past two years.He tells XXL magazine, "It seem like we targets (sic). Everybody blames hip-hop for all the problems in the world, so whenever a situation happen with a hip-hop artist, they gon' make it seem so drastic. "They judge a book by its cover, off top. And definitely with the rap game, they feel like we out there thuggin', wildin' out, and that ain't really what we about. "We don't want to be put in these situations, but once we there, we just gotta deal with 'em." Remy Ma, real name Remi Smith, was sentenced to serve eight years behind bars earlier this year (May08) after she was found guilty on weapons and assault charges. The 26-year-old hip-hop star shot Makeda Barnes Joseph in the abdomen last year (07). She is awaiting an appeal.

It's been a tough road for Michael Jackson. The highs have indeed been high - his 1980s album Thriller is still the biggest selling LP ever released. And the lows have been horrendous - whether it be bankruptcy or defending himself against charges of child molestation. Born in 1958, Jackson was thrust into the limelight at just 11 when he became the star turn in the wildly popular group, The Jackson Five. He began his solo career while still with his band of brothers, recording mega-hits like Ben and Got To Be There. But it was in the 1980s that Jackson hit the heights of his career - and what heights they were. First came Off The Wall, an album that spawned huge hits like Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough and Rock With You. And then came Thriller. PAUL WALL has urged his married rap peers to be more honest about their status - and celebrate matrimony. The Texas-based rap star, real name Paul Slayton, wed longtime girlfriend Crystal in 2005 after realising she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with - and he can't understand why more rappers don't make a big deal about married life.
He says, "There are so many (married) people out there that are ashamed of it... specifically rappers. They don't want people to know they're married, because they think it will taint their record sales or girls won't like them.

R&B singer JOHN LEGEND is thrilled that his protegee ESTELLE has cracked the U.S. with her hit song AMERICAN BOY. The British singer was dumped by V2 Records after her first single 1980 failed to make the U.K. chart's top ten in 2004. But Estelle was soon noticed by Legend, who promptly signed her to his own Homeschool record label shortly after her departure from V2.
And Legend is delighted that the star has enjoyed so much success with her hit track, which reached number one in the U.K. and rocketed to number 11 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 after its release in March (08). Dental issues reportedly cause Lil Wayne to miss his scheduled court date on Tuesday in Yuma County, Arizona, where he faces felony drug and weapons charges stemming from his January 22 arrest. The rapper's attorney, James Tilson, said his client missed the status hearing because he is recovering from several root-canal operations and was ordered by his dentist not to fly "As a result, the court waived his appearance for that hearing," Tilson said. "He still must appear at future hearings." Lil Wayne was arrested in January after his tour bus was stopped at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint near Dateland, 78 miles east of Yuma. When the DEA searched the vehicle, they allegedly found nearly 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. They also found a .40-caliber pistol registered to Wayne, who has a concealed weapons permit in Florida.
Wayne (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include one count each of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons, possession of drug paraphernalia, transportation and or sale of a narcotic drug, and transportation or sale of a dangerous drug.
Tilson told the Sun he is planning to send the case back to the grand jury that indicted Wayne. "The grand jury came up with some charges the county attorney's office did not ask for," Tilson said. Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves, who is presiding over the rapper's case, has scheduled his next court date for October 9.

Rap star DMX pleaded guilty to trying to buy cocaine and marijuana in Miami and was awaiting extradition to Arizona on outstanding drug charges there, his lawyer said on Thursday. The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, entered the plea on Wednesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court and was sentenced to time served, said his lawyer Bradford Cohen. He was jailed two or three days after his July arrest on a charge of trying to buy illegal drugs from an undercover police officer during a street corner sting, Cohen said. Simmons was initially released on bond on the Florida charge, but was arrested two weeks ago on the outstanding warrant from Arizona during a traffic check outside a Wal-Mart store and then denied bond. Rather than stay jailed until after a trial set for October, he pleaded guilty in the Florida case and agreed to be extradited to Arizona, where he expects to be released on bond, Cohen said.
"He got shafted on this one," said Cohen, who said the evidence in the Florida drug sting was weak and flawed.
