MUSIC MOGUL KEVIN LILES HONORED IN FRANCE.

Music mogul KEVIN LILES has been made an honorary citizen of Paris after collecting France's highest civilian honour for his contributions to Parisian culture. The former president of Def Jam Records was the guest of honour at a ceremony in Paris earlier this month (Jul10), where Christophe Girard, the city's vice mayor, presented Liles with the Medaille de la Ville de Paris for helping to spread hip-hop culture to the French capital, reports All HipHop.com.

Liles says, "I am profoundly honoured to receive the Medaille de la Ville de Paris, especially for my role in helping to make hip-hop a mainstream art form globally. "Spreading the message of hip-hop and what it can mean to anyone has long been a personal passion of mine. To be given such a special honour in one of the world's best cities for just that purpose is genuinely overwhelming."

Praising Liles' achievements, Girard adds, "Kevin Liles represents hope and talent, energy and commitment. He never gave up his battle for hip-h op and today hip-hop is a fully recognised art. He is an example for the new generations and now he is my friend and a friend of Paris."
