LOOK at that heart shaped angel wings!! She's really now an ANGEL and even died on Valentine's Day!! That girl went to heaven with some big LOVE! What a day to die!

I never met her and I am still trying to know the who's who in the struggling yet talented Nigerian music industry. Goldie Harvey, a Nigerian pop star died last night. The musician was a contestant in the last Big Brother Africa reality show, died at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos. Her latest singles from her forthcoming African Invasion album are “Skibo” “Miliki” and ” Got To Have It,” have been enjoying heavy rotations on radio across Africa and Kay Jeezy was a big fan of her on Trace Urban Music Channel. Here in Ng, kids are sad all over as they are now coming home to hear. Gosh I hate listening to all these tracks after these young stars have gone. R.I.P

Her record label, Kennis Music has issued an official statement on her tragic passing:

“With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award. She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30 p.m. in the evening. We consider this period a gloomy moment forus and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance in which she passed away; the abundance of talent she exhibited in her short but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her.
“She is survived by her father, step- mother, brothers and sisters. We deeply sympathise with her family and fans all over the world and very grateful to all and sundry, especially, the vibrant Nigerian media for their concern and prompt reportage. We shall keep everybody informed as events unfold as we are devastated by the sudden loss.”

No funeral plans have been scheduled. She is from Ekiti state. No cause of death has been given. Goldie had just arrived back from the Grammy awards when she had a headache after the flight and by 7.30pm she was pronounced dead!  She is the second major young Nigerian entertainment figure to die this year. In January, Yoruba Nollywood start Bisi Kololafe, 26 also died from an undisclosed illness. I will contact the academy about Goldie'death just to make a statement. She was an aspiring singer and attended the show and could have been on that stage one day presenting, performing or winning. R.I.P Goldie--MsKemi @Hiphossip on Twitter
