BET networks lost another good one today! Someone I consider my baby brother A.J Cooper died at 34. Some of you may remember him from the dreadlocks look in high school. When I first worked at BET, AJ was one of the regular kids in the panel of Teen Summit. I was a guest Nov 1996 with Da Brat and we were talking about Drugs in the hood since I am also a Pharmacist and addiction Counselor. I was 32 that year and he was just a 16yo boy who participated in all the discussions. AJ later on went to be the host of the show before it was cancelled years later.
He got into politics, he was determined to be what he wanted to and today all the way here in Africa, I learned that he died Wednesday Dec 3rd 2014 at his mom's house where he collapsed after complaining of dizziness and faints. He was running for a DC Council seat. Though i haven't seen him since 1996, his high school days, I knew that potential in him to be a LEADER! AJ, we love you!! Till we meet again.
